I would recommending setting your light entity to a yellow color (simulation of sunrise?). If you are going for a cloudy morning I would still recommend playing with the light entity a little more. Right now the lighting is just too bland.

As far as night shots I recommend making in almost black and using lots of street lights. You can get lots of really great effects out of the half life engine when it comes to lighting. Just learn more about it.

Also, the building in the pic looks a little bit too flat. I would recommend adding a roof of some sort. Also, just more details, broken drain, a barrel next to the building...??

I'm assuming you've checked out the one horror mod (can't for the life of me think of the name). It's a three part single player "horror movie" mod. Anyway, I imagine you could get really great textures from it.

I prefer plot "a" because it does not sound like Blair Witch. I think you could do something much more original with plot "a", especially when it comes to character development.

redruM: Would you be interested in combining juncSource and your resource site? Yours is down a lot, which is a bummer because I think that you have great content.

I'm going to say it before someone else does: "That movie sucked."

Now that it is coming out I'm sure people will go see it expecting it to be some kind of life altering, anger inducing, great epiphany. It will just be a movie with a guy bitching. Intertwined with the bitching he will present some facts about Bush that some people won't like and some will like.

Basically my point is, first person that says "I don't see what the big deal was" or something to that affect is an idiot. Although, even before seeing it, I don't see what the big deal is.

Oh, a just a note, I'm not sure if this has been mentioned yet. I found some interviews from Michael Moore that are about two years old. He mentions the Bin Laden/Bush connection in the interview and cites his source, an author from the "New Yorker". I just thought it was interesting that this is actually old news that he has covered before (Some of The New Yorker articles were published in September of 2001.) Only with the release of his movie does it get international attention. A lot of which is mockery of Michael Moore rather than paying attention to the actual subject matter.

June 22nd...I'm pretty excited about this...

LOL

SSH are you a little stressed about something?

Don't worry, give it a year and all of these resources sites will be gone anyway.

Most of the resource websites that will pop up will be on free webhosts and won't last. Look at redrum's site, it was really great, lots of unique content, and it was always down. Pretty useless resource.

If Darth Mandarb is hosting this new resource site then I'm pretty confident that it will last. I believe he either pays for or owns his server. That's why juncSource has lasted, because I pay for my server. Also, juncSource gets over 500 hits a month right now. That was when I wasn't active in the community, now that I'm posting again it's been rising. I found links to juncSource from Italian and German forums and talk about it everywhere. In my opinion juncSource is kind of lacking in the content department. I think the Adventure Game community is a little starved for resources.

Just a little note regarding the whole uploading thing. I've asked for people to donate resources to juncSource on two different occasions. In both instances I recieved no more than three contributions. If you don't put it up yourself, not much will go up.

Maestro: Sorry that everyone ran off topic on you. I would follow Zootyfruits advice until you are able purchase web space. Just post a link in this topic when your site is done. Good luck and thanks for contributing to the community.

General Discussion / Re: win2k woes

Teaching someone how to reformat via the internet can be a bitch, but I'll give it a try.

First of all, you obviously have access to another computer, so that is good.

Do you have any other Operating System, or are you sticking with Win2K?

Using your other machine you need to create a boot disk.

1. Insert the Windows 2000 CD-ROM in the CD-ROM drive.
2. Click Start, and then click Run.
3. In the Open box, type drive:\bootdisk\makeboot a:, where drive is the letter of your CD-ROM drive, and then press ENTER.

I looked around and it looks like the Win2K boot disks take up about 4 floppies. From there the disks themselves should give you instructions. Try whatever fresh install options it gives you.

If you get stuck with this and it doesn't help then install an older OS. Try Win98 if you have it. Just FDISK and any virus that is still resident on the system should be taken care of. After you FDISK, Format. If you have questions about this just ask again and I will walk you through FDISK and Format for Win98.

I wish I could offer more help on Win2K but I don't have a lot of experience with it. It also sounds like you have a virus dug in pretty deep, so you may be forced to go with a Win98 install until you get things cleaned up, unless if those bootdisks help. Be sure you have NO cables attached to the computer except Mouse, Keyboard, and Monitor. This is REALLY important. If you have a virus don't give it a chance to infect a network, or reinfect the computer. Good luck!

The only problem I see with this is that it appears your "games" are included too. Are they open source? Because that's not a resource, that's pimping your games.

Everything in my thread has the source available, and it was the first time I ever released all of the source. So it was something new. I even considered starting the thread in the completed games forum. This appears to be a collection of your work which has already been released elsewhere. I'm not saying it's bad, I just think you should perhaps remove anything that actually isn't a resource (the games without source code).

Other than that I would have to agree with SSH. This is a good trend, lots of people releasing resources. On the other hand, the points I made above also make DG's agruement valid.

Say Vel, were you ever going to send me those back issues? I will take them in DOC format if that is all you have.

Does anyone else have all of the back issues?

QuoteZoneAlarm isn't free, Ben.

Yes it is.

From the Zonelabs site:
QuoteZoneAlarm is free for individual and not-for-profit charitable entity use (excluding governmental entities and educational institutions).

It may be some time. I'm busy with a lot of things right now. I have another website to update, my site to update, album to compose and record, 2 games to make, then I need to do silly job and school thing, and somewhere in there spend time with my girlfriend. ::)

Lots o' crap.

I want juncSource to be a little bit more involved than it currently is, so it will be a pretty huge rewrite.

I would love to see someone do something with Spy vs. Spy. I wish I had put more time into it. It is semi-playable as it is, but not much fun.

thanks,

Quotebut there really is too much activity going on in our state, or the country, to do it.

That's why Chris's suggestion is so beautiful. Government could run just as it does, but each citizen could have the right to interact and vote on whatever laws they choose.

I think the complexity thing is just to keep your average Joe out of politics. It's really not that complicated, or at least it doesn't need to be. The complication is the reason there are so many problems with the government in the first place. Of course by opening it up to the public in such a way politicians could attempt to make it even more complex, so there would have to be legislation to force any bills passed to remain fairly simple.

Complexity in bills and spenditure is how you end up with $50 toilet seats in the pentagon, golf courses, and whatever built into bills. We have been brainwashed into thinking that it is such a hard job and that there is so much going on.

Not at all!

I really don't think it has enough exposure. Very few downloads so far. While you are at it you may want to add http://www.juncmodule.com/juncSource.html

It's the most visited page on my site (607 views this month).

EDIT: I almost forgot, would you consider adding an open source section the AGS games page? Perhaps as a cross category?

QuoteI should have the right on every bill that goes through parliament, to decide to withdraw my vote from my MP, and cast it myself.

I REALLY like that idea!

Yeah, a lot of my ideas rely heavily on technology. I think that technology really paves the way for a lot of Socialist programs that have failed in the past.

I would also like to note to everyone: This thread has really influenced my opinions on Socialism. I just want to thank everyone for responding and helping. I still don't know where my political loyalty stands, but I do know that I'm not 100% Socialist. Which perhaps leaves me more confused than when I started the thread :-\

QuoteAnd about Keptosh 2, couldnt you rework it in keptosh 1 stylee, but just more colours. So it doesnt look so agi, i love the agi look but your Keptosh 2 characters would look nice in a simple high colour look.

um i know what I'm talking about...

I'm glad you do, because I don't..?? ;D

Perhaps you are missing that Keptosh 2 is just a remake and expansion. The first "chapter" of the game will in fact be the same exact plot as "Keptosh 1". My intention originally was to break Keptosh into about 4 or more games. With Keptosh v2.0 (meaning a upgrade, not sequel) I decided to just cram them all into one game and change the style. Which, it turned out, was a big mistake.

There is about a 90% chance that Keptosh will be redone in the following style:

This is easier to draw, and much quicker.

I hope more people find the resource useful. I have yet to put up the "Tom Hanks Away" source but, I will be soon. I just have to go through a few things...
