Are GUI supposed to display flipped images/animations?

Mine doesn't seem to be.

I have one view normal, and another flipped. The animation is called from the game_start function. They both appear as the normal view, although I have double and triple checked and the flipped view does animate, it just doesn't display flipped.

I have even assigned the same animation to other buttons in other GUI's and the same thing happens.

Bug or "feature"? I tend to report a lot of "features"  ;)

Thanks!

As far as right clicking, no, most likely not. I like the default right click option too much.

Sorry.

That also answers your question though. I suppose it could be coded as what happens when you click over a hotspot-less area. I think that could get really confusing though.

If I'm not mistaken the US postal service is no longer technically a government institution. It is protected by certain federal laws just the same, but, isn't it a commercial institution now?

QuoteHow ironic is this??!! They don't even believe in Christ and they're getting their own Christmas stamp, but don't dream of posting the ten commandments on federal property?

I assume that is in reference to putting that ten commandments statue or something on a state capitol or court or something...

ehh...

Many people fail to see anit-Arab sentiments as racism I think. The US government has pushed this modern "crusade" for spreading democracy and doesn't give a crap about the results. Muslims have very little to do with anything in that list of "remember" crap. Fucking wingnut crazy poofter fucks were responsible for those things. That they did it in the name of Islam doesn't mean dick.

So yeah, I agree with you Yak. Our country has become a very sad thing I believe. More so since 9/11.

Look around at the American flags. Decaying, ripping, and falling off of cars, windows...fading away like the fad that was post 9/11 patriotism.

Okay, I updated the screenshot, it now shows a mouse over.

Here is a slightly darkened circuit thing version:

I created this template for the fans of AGI graphics and haters of parsers. It is loosely based on the FoY GUI and uses Proskrito's SCUMM template.

I compiled this with the latest beta version of AGS so you won't be able to run it in anything else   :-[ sorry.

Download it HERE

If this is in the wrong forum please move it for me. I'm not really sure where things like this should go...

Critics' Lounge / C&C on new Keptosh GUI

I remodeled the Keptosh GUI a bit. Decided to cut down on the verbs even more. Also did away with a lot of the similarities between it and the FoY GUI. On the sides I added small animations of "circuits". Unfortunately they don't animate here. Let me know if you have any ideas.

OH MY GOD! Are you people completely nutz!? Pay for email!!!??? I already pay for my ISP, my email usage is INCLUDED in that! What are you people, a bunch damned capitalists or something!?

Seriously, this is a really dumb idea. Not because the intentions of your recommending it are dumb, but because you are not thinking clearly.

If email-postage ever becomes a reality it will be a penny at first, the inflation kicks it, before you know it you have to pay 37 cents and the mail system is bogged down in infrastructure and companies compete to provide you with service and it's all equally shitty.

You put too much faith in capitalists.

I believe that spam is a huge problem that must be dealt with. I just don't believe that is the way to do it.

The problem is, no solutions are actually being implemented. Our governments will wait until the problem is absolutely unbearable and then tell us that we have to pay some kind of massive fee to fix it. Then they will pass bills authorizing millions of dollars to go into some anti SPAM department that will just sit around and buy 50,000 dollar toilet seats.

It will happen and my cries will be lost. In America we throw away freedom in the name of fighting terrorism every day. Most Americans barely blink an eye. It is a sad world we live in today. If we Americans are so free then why do I feel like a prisoner to my freedom?

Support socialism.

Viva La Revolution!!

Okay, I solved the upside down palette problem, I just have to create a palette file using this cute free program called "Palette Suite 2" (you can flip the palette upside down in it ;D).

Problems one and two still exist however. Using Index 0 isn't really an option because that will make black be transparent...and it's not! I would rather be able to select top left pixel as the transparent color.

If problem two is solved then I will be a VERY happy monkey.

EDIT: Woah, that bug tracker entry is wrong, way wrong. AGS doesn't map it to 6,6,6 it maps it to something like 20,20,20. The brightness and Gamma settings on my monitor are really obnoxious(bright), I can't tell the difference between 6,6,6 and 0,0,0. The color it remaps it to is MUCH brighter.

I double checked, AGS remaps it to about 8,8,8(using the AGS values, slot 18 on the default palette). If it was just lower there wouldn't be a problem (say...1,1,1 or 2,2,2 even)

EDIT 2: Finer, you are correct about index 0. So long as I set it to a different color while working in photoshop then I can pull it off. It's just a lot of tricks to do something so simple...

Hmmm...

1. Okay, if I solve 3 then I guess that "feature" can be dealt with.

3. Here:

This is the Palette as it is in AGS:

This is the color table of the exact same exported palette in photoshop:

Basically, flipping the palette in photoshop or AGS would solve the problem. It would just be nice if AGS could do this. I often import and export in and out of AGS so just being able to do it in photoshop wouldn't REALLY solve the problem.

Oh, and I mean while importing a sprite.

if I'm not mistaken 1024x768 and 800x600 are more or less 50/50 world wide. In the US 800x600 is still slightly in the majority and in some countries largely in the majority. I imagine a majority of game players (members of this forum) have higher resolutions than your casual web surfer.

Either way, I agree with your suggestion of "tables so they resize to the width of the screen" As well as compensation for that geocities banner(an empty table about the width of the banner should do).

A few problems I've been having with Palettes and importing sprites.

1. When importing sprites with the remap colors to game palette option. AGS sees Black as Grey. Is this an AGS problem, or is there a way around this?

2. When I uncheck the remap colors box, and import, the transparent color thing does not seem to work at all. Is this known, a bug, a workaround?

3. This is sort of AGS unrelated...or not. Photoshop seems to flip Palettes upside down from the way AGS handles them. Could there be an option to flip the palette in AGS? At least during sprite import?

It's too wide.

At 800x600 and with the geocities pop-up banner I have to scroll across to read some stuff.

If you are going to keep it on geocities you should add blank space where the pop up ad fills the screen so your text doesn't get buried.

Also, optimizing for more than 800x600 is a pretty big web design boo-boo. It is the default resolution for WinXP and also the resolution that is used by the *"popular majority" of PC users.

Outside of that, it looks great.

*popular majority = if YOU use 98088790x564604809 screen resolution at 654650bit color depth, then you ARE NOT a member of this category. :P

Darth, it was called just Pong. It was the first home video game system ever. I believe Sears distributed it.

My father was a tech junkie too. The first computer I recall was the TRS-80 (not sure which version, had the disk drives, screen, and keyboard all in one unit...I think). I used to play berzerk on it (I think that is what it is called, one man in a room with other pixel men running at him while you shoot him with your pixel). Also this game called Asylum. It was a text adventure/first person maze type thing.

We had an Atari of course. That horrible Atari pacman, pitfall, and the infamous E.T.

Later we moved on to the Atari ST which was my introduction to Sierra and adventure games. We played King's Quest a lot but, I was only half interested. It was Space Quest that won me over. I remember the first time I saw it was at this meeting me and my dad used to go to at a local elementary school. It was basically a meeting for software pirates. It was great. One of the guys there had a copy of Space Quest before it was released to the public. It was great.

My forray into PC's were a little late, as well as LucasArts games. I purchased and played FoA, MI1, MI2, MI3, Full Throttle, DOTT, and Sam and Max just this year. It's been a good year for adventure games for me. I didn't own my first Windows PC until well after Win98 was released(2000 maybe?). Up until then I still had a 8088 and then about a year before the Win98 machine a 486DX with Win 3.11

Wee!

Cool idea...but...

I don't like the most helpful to "YOU" part.

For example: I nominate m0ds for "Most helpful musician". He's never done anything for me, but he has made the biggest contribution to the community musically I believe. (as a musician myself, I have little use for other musicians ;))

Perhaps most helpful to "you" or "the AGS community" could be added. I'm sure many people will do this anyway...just thought I would mention it.

Not a problem.

I've never actually used ListBoxes. It was very educational for me too!
