I don't think all of that was directed at you. However, outside of the line you quoted the rest of your original post was fairly negative and at least gave me the impression that you just kind of shrugged it off....

I also didn't say that the person responsible for the movie had no affect on its outcome. It should just have no affect on your decision to see it or like it. I agree that the movies you listed are crap. I also think this is one of the best movies I've seen come out of hollywood in a very long time.

It's just that since I started this thread a few people have been talking about Bruckheimer and Disney and not really the movie.

Actually, I noticed that and forgot about it...on purpose.

I'm amazed at how close-minded people are.

"Disney sucks."

"Jerry Bruckheimer sucks."

Who cares. It's still a good movie, a great movie. Wake up and stop letting mass culture brain wash you. I admit I do the same thing a lot, but if people say something is good, I at least give it a chance.

If someone could point out something wrong with the "movie" and not who made it or something else completely unrelated to the quality of the movie then maybe I could deal with it.

I honestly don't understand how someone could see this movie and just shrug it off.

Hollywood does produce such crap anymore. It was nice to be blown away for a change.

I always said I would go back and fix that...never did. I can't remember if it was some kind of problem with that version of AGS or just a problem with my scripting. The error happens on a command to restart the game if I recall correctly, that or close the game. Maybe I will check it out when I get the chance.

I'm assuming it's not much of a problem since it is at the end of the game.

Thanks for playing my game! ;D

You will need to download WinRAR or something that opens RAR files. This is the WinRAR site:

http://www.rarlab.com/

The GUI's have been saved as templates. Just place this in the directory that the "agsedit.exe" is in. Then start a new game. You will be prompted to select a template and name your game. The game will load with a preset GUI and some demonstration backgrounds and characters.

A word of warning about the LucasArts GUI's. Depending on how quickly you can learn about AGS you may want to put off using those GUI's for a little while. They are script intensive and may seem a little overwhelming at first.

I recommend using the default interface and putting together a test game just to get a feel for AGS. Learn a bit about scripting, then move onto those GUI's.

I am about 90% positive yes.

However, I imagine there is a slim chance that for some reason certain animations are not there. As far as I know everything is though.

I have been trying to put something like this together. So far it is slow going.

You can get some Sierra and LucasArts characters here:

http://www.juncmodule.com/juncSource.html

Currently the #1 and best resource is InstaGame:

http://www.sylpher.com/ig

For a few special GUI's check out Proskrito's LEC GUI's:

Fate of Atlantis GUI:
http://galeon.com/golfa/otros/SCUMM-FOA.rar

DOTT and Monkey Island:
http://usuarios.lycos.es/golfapagina/bazura/

I would recommend starting with InstaGame. It is a pretty complete set of backgrounds and characters and they are free to use. Great stuff.

good luck,

Costume Ripper is for ripping animations.

Scumm Revisited is for backgrounds.

To use Scumm Revisited you will just have to open up the .001 or .002 file and search through the tree for the Room "branch". There you will find backgrounds.

WOW. That is an impressive review! I have to admit the first few lines were a bit...insulting...but I guess they made up for it. Police Quest/Gabriel Knight AGI days? I will have to pick up that AGI version of Gabriel Knight sometime :P.

81%, that sounds pretty awesome ;D. Congrats Chrille!

PeaceMan: That's okay, it is the general forum...sometimes it becomes a bit of a free for all ;D ...I just don't tend to read all of those threads and keep up on all of the jokes :-*.

Obi-Leo: We have been getting the sprites with the Costume Ripper. You can download it here: http://www.juncmodule.com/lucastools.html

My computer is messing them up when I export so Yufster is going to rip some more for me. I'm working on the Monkey Island 1 sprites now, then I will move on to MI2, FOA, and DOTT. It's just a slow process because I have to put together nice and neat sprite sheets for my site and Costume Ripper exports them as a ton of single frame files. So if you can't wait you may have to rip them yourself :-\.

good luck,

Post a question about it in that thread, I honestly don't know why it's not working...double check your version(...help/about...).

EDIT: I just tested it and it does work...I'm sure the problem is that it has been opened/saved/or edited in a beta version...if you try it that way don't forget to MAKE A BACKUP!!

Perhaps they were made with Beta versions or something. I didn't think so though.

QuoteSome people never learn do they?

That's not very helpful...

Yufster: A template is a sort of new feature to AGS that allows you to save a game at a certain state to be used by others as a starting point. The LucasArts templates that Proskrito made are perfect examples of how this works, download them and check them out. When you start a new game you are prompted to select a template, usually you start with the default template with Roger, the blue cup, pink poster, key, and all that.

Also, Yufster, my PC seems to corrupt PCX images while exporting them out of costrip. Would you be interested in ripping a few costumes for me?

Could you make sure the option to NOT name the sprites is still there, so they could remain numbered by default? I can only assume you intend on doing that anyway, but just want to make sure ;D

How about naming view numbers as well?

View 1 - "Name"

keeping the number there of course but having a description, simliar to the room descriptions, where it doesn't actually affect the room.

What's up with the Pumaman thing? Is there a joke behind that? I imagine there is...did I miss a thread somewhere?

AHhhhhh!!!! Who cares if Disney is evil and all that? Come on, that arguement is about as exciting as Microsoft $ucks arguements.

Anyway, Darth Mandarb: No. Nothing. No LOGO. I found that very odd. No logo for ANY company. No real opening credits to speak of. I think names on the screen as the scene opened up, off in the corner, but to tell you the truth I can't even remember seeing them. I think they are downplaying the Disney thing a "little" bit. I didn't know it was by Disney until I went to the website after seeing the movie.

Honestly, if anyone is not seeing this movie because it was made by Disney...you...are...a...stupid-head.

I want to go see it again.

The corset thing. It would have been bad, except that they built up to it. It was a joke that actually worked, it played an important part in the movie. I was shocked to see that. So many movies today have such crap jokes.

Oh, the PG-13 thing, that's not a factoid someone pulled out of their butt...I'm pretty sure it's on the website or something.

arrrr,

Has anyone seen it yet!!!??? It is GREAT! I was in fear of cheesy dialog ("try wearing a corset"), bad FX, and all that...but nope! It was one of the funnest movies I have seen in a VERY long time.

I'm suprised there hasn't been talk about it here yet. Don't you Monkey Island people like pirates!?

I think you are a little confused there Mr. Panda ;D. Playstation games are on standard discs. Most of the programming and burning is probably done in Windows for PS2.

Cartridges work sort of like a Flashable BIOS in your computer (that is probably the WORST example ever...hopefully you know what I'm talking about...)

There are linker/flasher kits that allow you to write to a cartridge via USB usually. They exist for other older systems but I think they are very expensive and hard to come by. The GBA one is only $100 but I think Nintendo is trying to stop them from being produced. People pirate games with them.

I know that Brian Provinciano has been working on a AGI Interpreter for GBA. He told me that my donation to SCI Studio went toward his Flasher. At the time that meant nothing to me but now that I have my GBA SP I am really excited about him finishing that.

As far as AGS running on the PS2...it already can. With Linux anyway. I don't know much about Linux PS2 but as far as I know it is a standard Linux port that should be able to run any Linux software. Problem is...where do you find it, how much does it cost, and how do you install it. It would probably be expensive to set up the PS2 for it.

I was going to remain silent on this one...but.. ::)

I agree that Yufster needs to calm down a bit.

I think m0ds should get the most predictable post award of the year. :P

I don't think this topic was entirely unnecessary. The point is that Yufster DOES make good posts. But, she is a little...overwhelming. If Helm didn't care he wouldn't have started the post. I see it as his attempt to assist her in becoming part of the community. I like her (not the way m0ds likes her...) I think she should stay and make games and all that. I do think she should lighten up on the contents of her replies...not really her new topics...because I think some of those have been really awesome.

...and I was going to say something here about Yufster not taking offense and that we all enjoy her presence and all that...yeah...but, I'm sure she knows that.

I don't think people should jump so quickly to her defense. I think she is smarter than that. She knows her posts are a little over the top sometimes and I'm sure she will read this, change that, and all will be happy and pink. At least Helm provided her with a topic to defend herself in if she thinks he is wrong.

...That's my two cents...

'Put board' there is a bug at that point.

If anyone else needs help with this game feel free to jump over to: http://www.mega-tokyo.com/forum/index.php?board=4;action=display;threadid=4023

Nick did beta testing on it so he knows how to solve most problems you might be having.

Oh, and if you don't know about it don't forget to check out his program NAGI, it runs AGI games in WinXP perfectly!!

HAM is a programming language for the PC. Flashing a game you make to a ROM and testing it in a emulator is perfectly legal. Some would claim that is what emulators are REALLY for ::)

HAM is also free. Just search for GBA development on google. There are lots of sites about it.
