EDIT: Okay, a submission page is just a bad idea on second thought. If you would like to email me the CHA files, a single GIF image of the character, and a brief description(TXT File) I will set up a page on my website. Same goes for backgrounds. Please send them all in a .ZIP file.

Isn't E3 in LA? Or does it change? I'm confused. I think that is a good idea but, if it would prevent some overseas AGSers from coming...not good idea.

As far as Americans going back and forth about East/West coast...Come on guys!! AGSers are coming from across the ocean and you can't cross a few states!? Show some dedication here.

I hope we do not decide on NYC. That sounds like a bad idea. Rooftops and alleys and all.

Florida sounds okay but, what about someplace a little more west? How far can/will people travel?

Personally, I am going to try my best to go no matter where it is. Places like Florida and NY are a little "touristy". In the summer going to those places is going to be pretty expensive. I'm really lacking in suggestions....perhaps we could do Gettysburg or some hokey "American" place.

What about those overseas? At least those that are going to try to come...what piece of America do you want to see? I would hate for someone to come all the way to America and not see anything but us ugly American AGSers.

I may be way off but is the problem with the "Text Script Equivalent Code"? I think that is where Volcan's confusion is from.

My suggestion: When a person sets the value to true just change the equivalent code to read "MoveCharacterBlocking (CHARID, int x, int y, 0);"

The little Text Script Equivalent Code thing is how I learned to script in AGS. I believe I encountered the same problem. Having that as acurate as possible is a big help for people new to scripting.

I don't believe I ever have.

Honestly though, I don't think that's it. Each of the emails was customized in some way. I do believe that the "email person"/"rodekill.com hacker" may be the same person. They called me "junk" and asked Rode to design web pages and called him "Scumm"...even with a capital "S". Then again it could be very likely that it is just a regular member playing a joke (the emails part, not Rode's site).

Either way I would really like to know who reported my post to a moderator. I'm guessing that is the piece of trash that sent the emails. (<-- Evenwolf, notice how I pay attention to him! :P)

I'm a little confused by the whole "why is everyone getting upset" thing. The point is, I DON'T get spam at that email address. This is the first time EVER. It's because I don't ever use that email for anything but forums and my website. I have a yahoo account for other things. I get about 50 crap emails a day in that account. The problem is that it's possibly a member abusing the board. I'm not upset about it because the email itself was just stupid. I'm only upset about misuse of this forum. I'm here to make games, not have games played on me :P. Besides this isn't SPAM, each one of these emails has been written directly at us. They are not bulk emails. There is a big difference.

The reason we "kicking up a fuss" is because it is very likely that it is a member of this board. If that is so I would very much like to see that member get banned. If it is just some lamer sending out random emails then I agree, there is no reason to pay attention to it. These emails are targeted at AGSers though. I pay for my bandwidth, if I can keep someone from abusing it...then I will.

Some bastard is obviously getting email addy's from this board. I NEVER use my juncmodule.com email addy for "other" things. They got it from my site, this site, or mega-tokyo. I don't even get "penis-spam" at that address.

Your IP remains basically the same regardless as to how you connect, I believe. It just rotates through a series of IP's. When an IP is banned from somewhere you pretty much have to ban the entire series.

I think that's how it works.

I think it is much more likely that this information made its way to you via cookies. So, kill your cookies and kill them often. Honestly there just isn't much to keep people from getting your email address. Blocking all cookies just makes websurfing rediculous. Also, it doesn't really matter because as soon as you hit a site they are probably digging through your personal info. As far as how they see you going to "porn" sites. Think pop ups. Pop ups can request cookies too. I'm sure while going to some "free" webhost that someone on here uses you had some porn popups.

oh yes, and I'm full of poo and don't know what I'm talking about... ;D

It is actually extremely simple. That is what makes it so confusing :P.

Truthfully though, it is.

It is a very complex way to be able to do something very simple. Since AGS doesn't allow controlling of characters across rooms there needs to be a way to do this.

Currently if you have a character you can control him in one room, but, if you want to use him in another room you have to import him there and THEN move him around. Some commands are blocking and some execute all at once. This all makes it very difficult to control non-player characters (NPC's).

RickJ's Animation Engine (AE) solves these problems by allowing global animation and movement commands. So, in your global script under repeatedly execute you can put a set of commands to control EVERY character in the game, in every room.

Currently Scorpiorus' CCS plug-in does just that. But, it can be a little confusing, doesn't recognize walkable areas, and a few other things. The work between Scorpious and RickJ was to combine their efforts and make it so you didn't need a plug-in. (Thus allowing portability to Linux).

My project which mirrored another portion of RickJ's AE system was meant to create Artificial Intelligence(AI) within AGS. While of course not TRUE AI, it was something that could at least emulate it.

It would allow two characters, NPC's, to walk up to each other, have a conversation, and then walk away in a different "mood". Then, the next time they had a conversation their initial mood would affect that conversation.

Of course this is how I saw all of these things coming together. I think Scorpiorus and RickJ may have been taking a slightly different approach. Hopefully that kind of explains it a little better. My apologies if anything sounds a little "too" dumbed down in here. My intention is not to insult, just to be as clear as possible without adding more confusion. ::)

I posted a little in your "My Absence" thread about this...

I have abandoned my previous project that would have used this system. I had decided to go back and start it again but, after taking a good look at it I realized that it was WAY too ambitious :P.

As a sort of test game/demo of my AI system and perhaps even AE I have started another game which is a bit more simple.

It will contain one city and about 26 people. A lot of work, but much better than the 20 cities and 60 people that Smuggler had. Of the 26 characters initially I intend to only have 5 exhibit "intelligence". I will slowly build up from there adding "intelligence" to other characters as I become more comfortable (and get all of the bugs worked out) with the system.

I am currently still in the artwork stages which I intend on taking a lot of time with. This will be my first game with 100% orginal artwork ;D.

So, when I need this will be some time off still. Just to let you know though, I am still greatly interested in seeing it completed ;).

I was wondering what happened to you. Andail brought up the whole AI thing in the AGS chat Forum which eventually led to Helm digging up your AE thread. I was thinking of emailing you about that because I might be starting work on a project that could take advantage of the AE. Good thing that like all of my other projects it will begin sometime in the next ten years :P. I was a little concerned that you had lost interest in it.

Sounds like life has been doing its usual business with you. Good luck with everything. Hope all goes well.

Sorry didn't mean to make that sound like a request(using the word "request" was kind of a dumb way for me to approach that). I kind of thought it went along with what you were doing. More ideas or suggestions. I tried to draw/create stuff in Bryce...but, I just suck at it.

The stuff you said in your edit sounds super duper great, even if you don't do the whole 3D pack idea I think the community could really benefit from a nice set of character templates.

I spent about a month or two putting together a game that was meant to do that but, I got a little overwhelmed. It's a huge project.

Also, check out Scorpiorus' CCS plug-in. I used it in my game Keptosh. Download it and follow the characters around. They follow a certain path.

My second game was meant to "up the par" on this idea and not only make them walk a set path but have that path affected by their mood which would be set by their interactions with other Non-player characters.

Scorpiorus: Is the AE system finished? I never heard anymore about it. Just as that drifted off my interest in making my game did.

Andail: I have been trying to think up an idea for a game that uses this same system on a smaller scale. If you have any ideas and would like to work on a small project together I would be more than happy to. Just keep in mind that SMALL is the all important factor. I had 20 cities and over 60 characters in my Smuggler game. That's what got me in the end. Also, if you just have some ideas and don't want to work on a game, let me know. I am still interested in pursueing this project.
