QuotePlease don't make me laugh.

I thought we were making each other laugh? To laugh is to love. Where is the love?

In a few years debates such as this will look pretty daft - you know, reminiscent of women not being able to vote or partake in politics or people of a 'different' colour not being able to even sit down in a bus kind of ridiculous.

Quoteresearch has shown

I'd be interested in seeing that research. Also, I wonder how many divorced or abusive parents took part in the research.

QuoteObviously, men and women are capable of breeding and creating new citizens

The government and everybody else is already complaining about how the world is over-populated so I don't see how that's relevant to the argument unless one were to pick at straws.

Wow, Earthworm Jim looks sooo weird in this game... ;)

As for the debate - you don't have to be strange to have views like Tennapel. Homophobic, probably, but strange... Nah. Hitler was a vegetarian who didn't drink but I wouldn't consider him a better person than the pie eating homeless drunk on my local high street.

Just sayin ;)

I'd throw those on my list, too. Goes without saying, really.

When I asked myself this question these games came to mind:

Force majeure II: The Zone
A Second Face
The Cat Lady
Ben Jordan 8
1213
7 Days a Skeptic
Maniac Mansion Deluxe (I know.)
Nine Hours to Dawn
The McCarthy Chronicles: Episode 1

There'll be more of my 'favourites' but I suppose it's usually the one's that pop in your head that left a lasting impression. The Zone doesn't get mentioned very often but it really is quite a trip and the music is fantastic.

QuoteAm I the only one who got really scared by Slender?

Am I the only one who hasn't played Slender??  :P

I should really make a point of playing that game. I often find myself actually procrastinating over playing games. I think I'm doing it wrong, shouldn't I be playing games whilst procrastinating? Ah well.

Hooray for Muphrey's Law :-D

Murphrey's Law hooray for is sure.

By making the protagonist utterly useless and dumping him/ her in a hopeless situation - don't forget the demonic abominations from hell. Facial expressions of said abominations should resemble (if human, characteristically in form) a severely drunken person with blood pouring from every orifice.

Voilà , Horror 101.

The game looks great :-) but I have to agree with Khris here - the translation really needs fixed. Any plans for this in the near future?

Fantastically retro with an interesting premise for an adventure. Looking good.

Thanks!
Yeah, Snowflake does one hell of a version of that song. Bloomin' phenomenal.

Update!

The final voice overs will be placed in to the game over the next couple of days. Therefore, I've set the date for releasing this thing to 27th June.

So, mark your calendars boys and girls - questions will be answered and answers will be questioned.

Fun fact!: If all goes smoothly and the game is released on the 27th, it'll have been 12 weeks since start to finish that the game was in production (opposed to 2 weeks spent on the first one) - which is roughly the deadline I set myself. Then I can go away again and spend 12 months on a game. Indeed, numbers can be fun.

The screenshots look quite interesting, nothing quite like an apocalyptic space/Sci-Fi adventure.

I'd reconsider the  30-40 frames walkcycle - that's an awful lot of frames! A smooth walkcycle can be created just as easily with 8-10 frames. Just food for thought.

Quote"reboot" the circle of life.

If you're not sure about using 'The Unknown' for the title, why not consider 'Reboot'? Sounds pretty cool.

Quote"you should try and get out fast then, before someone near you gets thirsty"

Surely "you should try and get out fast then, before someone else needs a leak" resonates more. ;)

Quotein case Selma did'nt tell you

Trust me, Selma told me EVERYTHING. Many times.  (laugh)

Hooray - I used that thing in my head (I think it's called a brain) and got to out of the containment chamber  8-)

When:

Spoiler
Everything lights up and the character begins to see in colour, you really know the adventure is about to begin ;)

I maybe did come down hard with what I said (although I didn't mean to) and I'm glad I didn't offend you with it. Without sounding like a complete moron - this game is really quite intellectual and, to be honest, I really wasn't expecting it to be. I guess that's the surprise.

It's a new format, I like that. This game could really benefit from sound and music, though. Then  I think you'd have quite an exceptional game.

Thanks for the help.

QuoteI too looked many times in the past for books, movies or games that were easily approachable, without paying the price of a loss in quality.

I'm really quite guilty of doing this. Can you tell?  (laugh)

QuoteBut I understood from your reply that not figuring how to progress made the poetry seem annoying, and that otherwise it would have been acceptable.

Not really. I get the whole cult thing and, whilst this game is very personal for you, remember, it's a game for my enjoyment. I have more patience than probably 90% of people on the internet. Life hasn't been easy for me either but I don't know if, unless I am under the influence, I could sit and take it.

Quotehaving to wait for him to tell his many words may prove annoying

I can't skip any dialogues, which gets frustrating. It doesn't need to be like that - if I read it once I know it already.

I'm going to take what you said on board (I already progressed a bit now) and try again. Just to spite myself!

Feedback is feedback. Any attention is good attention - isn't that what they say?

I am still stuck.  :(

I love the idea (and the cut-scenes, by the way). I really want to like this game...

I have played your game for quite a while, talked to everything, tried all 'thought items' and to no avail. It wouldn't matter if I was stuck had there been an ongoing interesting event or story taking place during which.

Instead, I see you are trying to make the experience poetic, but in quite (sorry) an annoying way. It's hard to see any adventure here.

I don't mean to insult you (seriously, I don't) but, can you see what I mean? The dialogue is good etc, but unless you point me where to go there is no game there.

I'm stuck in the can.

Now what?

Edit with further info:
Spoiler
I exhausted all dialogues, 'used' all thoughts on everything. If it is in fact timer based - how long do I have to wait? :)

Hi elentgirl,

I've downloaded your game (although the download count is still at zero - looks like the download counter has been turned off or is buggy, anyhoo...) and it's pretty cool so far. I like how it starts with the letter you receive and the voice over, it's a nice touch. You've created a nice atmosphere with sfx and some really nice writing in there, too.

My main criticism so far would be that the hotspots for leaving areas are a bit smallish. I also think I encountered a bug where I couldn't change the cursor from the inventory item I was holding. Still early doors, though - will let you know.

It all looks incredible! Funny video, great merch, wonderful graphics - what more can you ask for?

Hope you reach your target! A merry yarn...
