Okay, how do I get to the sprinkler system? I imagine I am suppposed to use the smoke bomb on it to cause the commotion. Also where is the soup that is supposed to kill the mutants? Throughout this game I never see it?

You will never see the soup once you've given all the ingredients to Jon's mom.  For some reason, you just "have it".  I believe you use the smoke bomb on the pipes in the room where the mutant audience is,  or on the audience of mutants itself, to set off the sprinkler system, and the soup sprinkle goes from there. Let me know if this helps.

The room next to the stairs on the first floor is where you use the boxes.  It has the fireplace and broken window.   Use them on the head statues, and you will be able to enter another screen.  Let me know if this helps!

I  couldn't  even figure out how to drop anything out of the cage!  Please let  me know!!

Any idea how to get out of the cage?
I have lettuce, carrots, coin, metal bar, rubber duck, and opened can of monkey feed.  I've put the curtain in the cell up and down.  Can't pick up the fur in the cage.  Have talked to the snake.  Can't talk to the man standing outside the cages.

It's been a while since i played this.  Have you tried buying anything from the candy shop?  I would look at the books you have in your house, to see spells, and recipes, etc...  Let me know if you need anything else.  I loved this game!

It's been a couple of weeks since I have played this.  Have you read the books in the house yet, for recipes on what to brew up?  I believe you need to make the recipe to proceed.  The croc puzzle comes in much later in the game.

I can't find the tuning fork, and I do not have any book.   I've altered the horn, but can't go from there.  Talked to the maestro in the library.

OK, I finished it.  I re-loaded, and my cross was back.

To the game creator,
Is there only one ending to this game?  There was something I never used?

I took the big step back, and yes, you do need to do things in that order exactly.  Don't talk to Mr Creek at all about the plant until the frenchman tells you the english lord is a drunkard.  Go back and talk to Mr Creek. Then the plant will be ready to take the juice from.
I have the whole map now, and have entered the forest.
My cross has mysteriously disappeared now, and I think I need it to proceed.

did you also tell the frenchman your real name when he asks you?  I think this may be a  way to get you to where you need to be.

I've tried giving it to everyone.

I had to keep walking away from the hotspot where you can leave the Frenchman's screen, and just click like crazy in that lower right corner. Try talking to him again, and then walk away.   The pirate prisoner has the first piece of map.  You need to use the rock you found to sharpen the sword you found in the cave (let me know if you were able to get this).  Give this to the prisoner as an escape weapon, and he'll give you the first piece of map.  The frenchman tells you later that the englishman is a drunkard, and that he'll give you his piece of map for the flag you stole from him.  So, I'm assuming I need to find alcohol, for him to give me the flag?   The flag is nowhere in sight. He won't let me walk behind the screen. If I'm missing anything let me know

ok, I have the coconut sliced in 2, the oil, the rag, the knife, the tobacco, the whistle, the orginal map, and the first piece of map for the forest.

I know the frenchman wants his flag back for the 2nd piece of the map, and the englishman probably wants a drink, but I am clicking around like crazy and can't go any further

Walk into the trees, so you're  a bit in the middle of the screen.  You should just be able to pick up the branch (it looks like a tree).  Use the branch to pick up the hanging bit of lianna, that's stuck up in the tree toward the left of the screen.  Pick up the mushroom that's the farthest to the right of the screen.  Your cross should be back in your inventory, even though you didn't pick it back up.  Use your knife on the cross to cut off the chain.  Combine branch, lianna, chain, and mushroom to get the coin.

I did this a couple of hours ago, so hopefully, I'm remembering this right.

I'm stuck trying to get the map from the englishman and frenchman.
