I tried to draw a cartoony backround, but I feel I have failed, I can't get it right. It is supposed to be cartoony and spooky-cliche but I can't think of any thing
HELp AGS'ers, your my only hope!
P.S. Don't mention layers, I only got ol ms Pain-in-the-butt

First and foremost this will be a review of the Windows XP compatible, “Kings Quest Collection” not the games themselves, which have already been reviewed enough for any soul to find at his or her own leisure.
Recently released by Sierra, the “Kings Quest Collection” comprises practically all of the “Kings Quest” adventure games. Most fans won’t miss the only exception, “Kings Quest IIIV”.  The installation was painless, in my view too painless. I would have preferred more options in the installation. As it was, all I got to choose, was were I would put the file dump and then it was time to install. I would have much preferred been able to choose which games I wanted installed at that time. Installation took quite a while on my computer, and though I have worked with slower, I am sure most adventure fans don’t exactly go for speed demons. Then the system itself, barebones, but very user friendly just a list of the games and button under each to play and another to bring up the manual. Unfortunately, the game only has one manual, with all necessary information included. But even with editing to make each games segment as short as possible (though it does include the back story for each game) it still feels long and ill put together. It would have been nice to have scanned-in copies of each games original manual, but at least those are easy to find on the Internet. But I just paid 25 bucks (Canadian) for some old software I could download for free, at least give me some goodies for my respect for copyright laws.
In conformation of rumours, yes the illustrious DOSbox is used to allow Windows XP compatibility. And luckily the programmers have made it so it starts automatically when you start a game. The only typing you will have to do is in the actual game itself, like I said, user friendly. Uninstalling is again breeze, but again too much of one. Say I want to uninstall some of the games? Is it possible I don’t want all of them on my hard drive at once? Of course you can delete any of the dos games in their folders without fear of screwing up your computer, but I am not so sure about the seventh. 1.4 gigabytes isn’t much on a modern computer, but we adventurers like our games old, so upgrading can often be a downgrade in compatibility with our old favourites.
In conclusion, though it is nice to get these hoary old classics all at once, somehow it feels kind of sad. No more shall I search thrift stores and flea markets for these jewels of a bygone age. Nor more shall I bid on ebay franticly for a cd the probably has more scratches then drapes after a  millions cats have been at them.
On the other hand… this collection doesn’t have the ORIGINAL “Kings Quest,” or “Space Quest” or “Police Quest”, or anything Lucas…so come ye old adventure freaks, The Games Afoot!

When I read this story I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. It's just so darn funny. But what do you think of it? I can't comment anymore, its just caracking me up.

This pic I drew in paint after sketching it out on paper,
she was born and grew up on ol' Luna but left when the neutrality got to her, prone to mood swings and extreme opinions, she has rejected the zen based society of her home-world. she still has the stretched out look the lunarites are known for, but without their calm grace.
So what you all think? do I convey what the above statement in the picture, or is the description bogus?
Any Criticism or paintovers are welcome.

One of the things that annoys any AGS game creator is music. Not the musicÃ,  in itself but adding it to a game. There are basically three options, make it yourself, which requires extreme talent IMHO, get something off the internet with all the moral implications there in, or beg plead, and promise slavehood to some composer. But wouldn't it be nice if we had a music generator like the have the walkcycle, but a music generator would be nice.

This paper is about such a software, and though it probably does not work with windows, its a great idea, maybee some einstien can make a modual that does the same thing.
[edit]
here is where you can download said software, good luck making it work with windows

General Discussion / What Grinds Your Gears?
Tue 06/03/2007 22:07:45
I have created this thread so people who feel really bummed or pissed about something can rant about it, without having to create a whole new thread. Those threads can really clutter up the forum, especially when they get locked.
Here is an opener,

Empowered,
A good word, but overused, and used inappropriately in my opinion. Now I am not against anyone’s rights, but it really ticks me off that if a woman does something sexy, and feels good about it, she is empowered, but if a guy is turned on by it, he is a chauvinist pig. So you feel good about been sexy, good for you, that's a good thing. But what’s with the double standard?
I don't think of woman as objects, even when I am supremely attracted to one. Do men write love poems to their fridge’s? Do  we write a balled of the day the toaster broke?  Now those things are objects. What do you people think, am I chauvinist pig, or might I have something here? you tell me.

General Discussion / Computer Problems
Tue 27/02/2007 20:43:30
My computer is 800 mhz
                        128 mb Ram
S3 internal video card with 8 mb ram
                         Windows ME
My problem? The computer freezes up if if set for any length of time above 640-480, and sometimes even then. As well, if you put it in sleep mode, it with go  into a "coma' and not wake up unless you restart manualy. And by freeze up I don't mean just an unresponsive screen. No, the screen gets garbled, and corrupted, ad the computer stops working.
can anyone help?

Critics' Lounge / Tatterhood, C+C please?
Fri 19/01/2007 17:10:39
Some of you may have heard of the story of tatterhood
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tatterhood
I decided to design, though not make, yet, a game based on that story, which is one of my favorite fairy tales. I mean she's one kick butt heroine.
I decided as well to do some sprites as somthing fun to do to get my idea's  expressed.

in order from left to right, tatterhood, the magic teacher, and rosebud tatterhoods twin.
please C+C to your hearts content

At http://www.newscientist.com/article.ns?id=dn1775 they said that they have discoverd the basic average colour of the universe.
Weirdly enough, it is similer, though not the same as, that would be too much, to the default colour for a windows desktop. It makes sense if you think about it, we got very red stars and very blue stars, heck even a few violet stars, and whats in the middle? colours like that. but still it is amusing in a esoteric sort of way.

Critics' Lounge / Ghost from the Future
Tue 19/12/2006 20:13:28

I was making a game for Octobers MAGS
when I had the idea for a medieval inn haunted by ghosts from the FUTURE!
never got around to it, but it seemed a good idea at the time. anyway i got this sprite of a Canadian astronaut, it could also work for some parody of "the dig", in fact that would be a good idea, tell me what you think.

I was about to google something, when I was directed to this page. http://www.google.com/sorry/?continue=http://www.google.com/search%3Fhl%3Den%26q%3Dcanada
It asked me to type in this spyware protection screwy letters. I, like the sheep I am, typed it in. But when I tried ANYTHING, it popped up with the same thing, plus the logo looks weird. I think some hacker hacked into google and is using humans to get past spyware protection.

I am working on a MAGS game, and the maincharacter is wearing a cape, any refrances anyone might have for a walkcycle?any sides and all views would be helpful. I need somthing that shows how a  cape hangs and moves, but not billowing like a superhero.
Thanks In advance

This may sound silly but I recently (a few months ago) downloaded the latest version of AGS 2.71, I think. I was all set to make the world my own with mygame FINALLY created  and FINISHED. I was poking around when I realized somthing was horribly wrong. I couldnt find the add backround button. I looked everywhere, I checked help to see if it had been moved, but no, help said it was where it always was. but in the versio nI got it isn't.

this is a story I wrote. I like it for the most part, but I wonder what others think of it.
I can't improve without critics

***
He sat dry mouthed and gape jawed. He didn’t usually do this, but then he wasn’t used to being dead. Most people aren’t, but then most people aren’t soldiers. His brain was slowed down to 1/40, so slow that he didn’t even blink fast enough, so his eyes had to depend on the clear gel pack to stay moist. Good thing he had the gel packs, all he could do was watch. Something blurred at the corner of his eye, but it was gone before he could see it, probably some rat equivalent only the scientists would like. Well he was stuck here, might as well get comfortable, for a Dead guy. These and other thoughts slid slowly round his head as he sat waiting for evacuation. C’mon, when was the evac. ship going to get here? He sat, remembering the battle, it had gone well, he thought, They had flanked the bustards and then impaled them on the "Vang Cross and Strike" As far as he could tell, a lucky sniper had got him, he had been too exposed at the time he tried to take out that bogie. When he woke, there was no one around but the Dead. The official term for it was M.S.P., (Metabolistic Slowdown and Preservation) but to him, and most enlisted men, he was Dead. Not all-dead, the final show, the last hurrah, just Dead. Christ! Where were they?! When a brain turned morbid like that, you knew you had been waiting way too long. He was glad all the nerves were turned off down there or else he would have a monster itch, and no way to scratch. Oh great, now his eyeballs itched. why had he even thought of scratching. He would have laughed at the total absurdity of it, but he couldn’t do that either, but at least sounds of laughter echoed around his head. Ok, calm down, he was cracking up and he knew it, just calm down and pretend to take a deep breath. That nearly set him off again, but he squelched it in time. Still, this waiting was starting to really get to him. If they didn’t pick him up soon, he would go nuts, if he wasn’t already! How would he know he was crazy anyway? Well his thinking would be gibbled, but with his thinking gibbled, he wouldn’t be able to tell if he was crazy. That did set him off, laughter crackling inside his head.

He was so busy laughing, he didn’t notice the approach of the evacuation unit. He hardly noticed as they coldly looked over the Dead for sustainables, his near corpse looked over like a side of meat. "What do you think?" the junior medic asked "Well, this ones doing ok, physically, but endorphin readings say this one is going to need a lot of work to prep back to rated status" the older, more pragmatic senior medic answered. "Should we take him?" "Might as well, who knows, might be a soldier again some day" Having looked over the other Dead, loading the sustainable ones, as well as the all-dead, the heavily loaded evac ship rose into the uncaring sky.

I am looking for an mp3 or even .wav for a song that once haunted me. still does in fact. its called "Fare thee well" or"10,000 miles" and its by Mary Chapin Carpenter.  The tune has haunted me ever since I first heard it in the movie "fly away home" I never really got into the movie too much, but that song, played at the start and near the end of the movie, always game me the shivers. does  anyone have it, and is willing to upload it, or steer me the to some site? already tried metacrawler and google

hello fellow agsers, i wrote some stories recently, and I wondered what you thought. I posted them on elfwood, hoping for some c+c, but no dice. I wondered what you people thought.

Here they are!

"only" is the first part of a nearly abandoned story of an elf-orc,

"Dead Soldiers" is aÃ,  story of a soldier who decends into madness

"Monks shame" is a badly writen piece about the transformation of an unsuspecting monk.

Please tell me what you think, I can't improve without feedback.

As explained in the title this thread is asking that age old question, why do guys find two woman kissing erotic? I have my theory which I will get into soon, but I wondered what you guys thought. And female posters feel free to laugh at the peculiarity of the male species and post your own thoughts.

Ahem... My theory is that men find it erotic, is due to the fact that people (ALL people) have difficulty understanding something alien to them. To guys, the mystery is " why don't woman want sex when I want it"Ã,  since guys would gladly drop trow if woman wanted to too. But woman don't. So they cook up this myth that when woman go away to say, all girls collages, they must be doing something, because they don't want it as readily as guys would like when they are in a nomal population of guys and gals. Not to mention the added onÃ,  voyeur effect.

erm... that my theory, feel free to trash it.

I was playing a a winter rose, and I was wondering how the  snow tracks were programmed. I had an idea for a game (deputy e.i. and the spirit of theatro) but one of the puzzles required following a trail. banging my newbie head against this problem is the main reason i gave up on the game. if one could tell me how to do it I would be able to continue making that game with hope.

I have a sprite here I was working on and I have looked at it so much I am not sure if its good or not, so any critics would be welcome...
