I really like the style.

Some quick modifications:

The composition is amazingly bad, the melody needs to be reworked but I like the general sound of it:

I m likely to update with a modified version. Mid will be added.

Edit: Here s the cakewalk file for the time being:

Thanks, I did read that section in the manual but didn t see the relevance.

What s the equivalent of:

int variable;

variable == 1;

when you re using strings?

That is what should be the second line here:

string variable;

(variable == ("New content"); ) <-------- ?

Yakspit's point about styles clashing when a single background/tune/whathaveyou from another artist would be used, struck me as well when I read the idea.

To get around this the categories could be more conceptoriented, for instance:

Music - Instead of a single tune that would be used somewhere in the game, a theme/melody could be provided ie something the requester could then make a tune of in his/her own style.

Sprites - Instead of a fully rendered sprite some conceptcharacters could be provided. For example, the requester describes that he/she wants a depraved clergyman character n then ppl could submit some conceptsketches.

The idea is that the submissions would provide the requester with detailed ideas/sketches that could then be ripped off more or less, but would have the requesters renderingstyle.

Then again, I m perhaps a bit too obsessed with consistency.

One of the reasons why I enjoy activities of this sort is that they make me abandon my usual patterns. So the more detailed the specifications, the further away it usually takes me.

So I guess my arm is raised.

I d stay away from notationprograms such as Noteworthy composer n the likes unless you re writing for reallife ensembles. Traditional notewriting is ment to be interpreted by musicians and if you let your soundcard do it you re bound to come up with a lifeless result. In addition they re really timeconsuming to work with.

I m not familiar with freeware programs of the kind but I d recommend getting a pre-Sonar Cakewalk program such as Cakewalk 9. It s old by now so it ought to be cheap, and is, in my opinion, the best sequencerprogram out there if you re focusing on midi.

If you wanna avoid midi you could use trackerprograms such as Fasttracker.

I really like it, most interesting gametheme I ve heard in a long while. Hardly any predictable parts, smooth transitions and interesting all the way through.

What I d alter if it were my creation would be:

(i) Make the contrasts a bit stronger in the arrangement. Alternate full sounding arrangementparts with thin sounding.

(ii) Although I m very fond of the celesta sound, using it all the way through might be less interesting than switching. To make the transition between the switches less abrupt you could use intrument with a similar sound and/or double the sounds. In this case I come to think of: glockenspiel, harp, xylophone or perhaps pizz violins.

Eagerly awaiting the following themes.

Excellent. Thanks for the info.

Is it possible, and if so, difficult to let the player use the textparser in dialogs?

Realising I m probably not very clear in my question here s what I m aiming for:

When I click on a person after 'talk to' has been selected a la LEC GUI, I want to let the player type in the "topics". So instead of choosing some printed topics from the bottom, the player would type in keywords to trigger messages.

Is this possible and if so difficult to make?

I guess what to add depends on what kind of arrangementstyle you re looking for. Rock ballad, Celine Dione, Musical, Frank Sinatra style etc.

Since hosting means not being able to participate I m not very eager to do it.

Arent there any other way to arrange these that s equally practical? Having a non-participating host means one less entry n the entrynumbers aren t very high as it is.

Anyway, I hope m0ds s willing to host.
#793
The backgrounds are way too saturated imo. I like the style though.

Cheesy lovetheme for some Final fantasy styled game/movie. Ending arrangement:

The arrangement got a bit messy, hope you can distinguish the melody.

Edit: Fixed the link - Added midi file

Some modifications:

Thought the hairstyle as well as the hat wasn t very '50s, n that the shirt was hanging a bit too low, making him look somewhat like a bum.

The style struck me as very artistic though n my modifications unfortunately made it a bit generic.

How about including 'How to' in the topic to raise the discussion's constructive value?

QuoteThe new shoulders make him look "strong like bull"

Actually they havn t been modified. What makes him look stronger is the:

(i) Smaller head
(ii) Narrower waist

It s all about proportions.

I m not very familiar with body anatomy so these modifications might be completely wrong. At least it s a try:

Scaled:

Believe it s fairly selfexplanatory. Very impressive rendering btw.

By the way, loominous, is a Sibelius file okay for you?

Sure, fine by me but I d guess that if you d export it as a .mid file then more people would be able to view it . On the other hand I might be the only one interested in these things.

So I guess it depends on the general interest. Would anyone else appreciate .mid files?
