No Monkey, Magintz is being totally fair. ezboard, The problem with Yahtzee, those were the good old days.

I want to reply to that but don't know what to say :) It made me laugh... sigh I do miss the good old days.

Perhaps now I'll be one post closer to "breaking out the bubbly" ;)

Not to be a pedantic but unless your account says "transferred from ezboard" I doubt you can reminisce about the good old days :P Now those days were magical. But I do agree that times have changed and the community has expanded a lot since those days.

Well done you! To get one's game on Steam is like winning the national lottery. First AGS game on Steam?

Yes, although Dave Gilbert had ECC on Steam despite it not being made in AGS that is still and achievement.

I agree that despite a lot of bad press the NHS has always been good to me as well. Usually you can see a doctor within 48 hours and you know the only thing you'll usually have to pay for is prescription medication; unless you're low income or Welsh.

I know I have the peace of mind if I needed a quadruple bypass it would cost me the same as getting diagnosed with a cold but on the other hand there are lots of people who abuse the system or misuse the good nature of everything.

A lot of people go see a doctor every few weeks for a sniffle when really any person with common sense would know just to get an early night and they'd be fine the next day and if not then think about going to see a doctor. This drains the doctors time making them a lot busier and perhaps a visitation cost; even if it's only £5 might help stop a lot of unnecessary visits (and could be made free for pregnant women, children, under 18's, unemployed etc...) I know it's a further cost but I know I wouldn't mind paying that the once or twice I go to visit a doctor. These extra funds could go towards improving services and funding the nurses and people that deserve the money and something as small as £5 isn't a kick in the teeth like the Irish â,¬50.

It's nice that people post things like this as for those who have never had any real problems like this can hopefully learn from others disasters.

Damn dude. I've been there and done it all although never lost quite as much as three years worth of work. In fact I have now lost the same AGS game I've been working on a total of two times. Well the second time I copied the backup onto the original so I basically reverted 3 months work. It's what keeps putting me off from working on it.

Now I have copies on my USB key, stored on two separate hard drives and every once in a while I'll leave a copy on the web. The thing I'm always most worried about losing are my photos so I try to put all of those on CDs.

I haven't used it but for anyone else who is worried about the same problem:

PS: Avoid St. Pauls. I hear it's like Brixton

I lived there, well very outskirts of there. It isn't rough. Just unpleasant. Walking home from Uni I was offered many unspeakable acts of depravity from a lady of low moral repute; several times being offered to be "licked like a lollipop" and also witness to a bargain war between two ladies about the hygienic state of their... "product" and also the price of implied services.

yea I was at Uni in Bristol for a year and loved it! The suspension bridge is cool and if you cross over you have Aston Court which is a huge park and country home. Free to enter and wander round the acres of fields and forest they have. Bristol also has a zoo.
Oh and if you're looking ro a night out go to Thekla. It's a boat on the river but also a night club. Can be a little expensive... but you're on a boat mo**erf***er!

I've been to both Italy and Holland. Italy will be a lot warmer but has ice-cream. Holland has windmills and AGSers to assist organising.

Other suggestions:
Croatia? Somewhere like Dubrovnik?
China? Half-way between the Euros and Yanks.

Apart from the fake dialogue options and the horrible walking implementation, which I assume is due to it being targeted for the Wii, I rather like it so far. Feels a bit empty, but I guess that's the drawback of short episodic games.

So far I agree. I love the game just not so much the controls...

According to WikiAnswers

Quote
Actors with recognizable voices are paid very highly.

For normal voice actors, who aren't famous they are paid around minium wage, and are paid per line.

Like normal actors they have auditions, and the competition is a little bit less but still there.

You could always be really adventurous and use an alternative store for synonyms; such as an external file or by parsing data from somewhere like thesaurus.com using the tcp/ip plugin.

However these are silly ideas... silly but fun :)

General Discussion / Re: The BNP
Wed 10/06/2009 19:53:56
Yea. It's hard to see that the BNP got in; it's disgraceful but then again fair. They are a legitimate political party and in the words of James Bovard - "Democracy must be something more than two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for dinner."

I think Hugo Weaving could play a good George Stobbart. I think he's a great actor, although he's played some serious roles, and could pull this off. As for Nico I can picture Charlize Theron.

Reality-on-the-Norm / Re: Project - Recap

I'm sure it has been posted somewhere before but I went to see Dave Gilbert in NY last year at the Pecha Kucha game night and he gave a presentation on Reality on the Norm. It was a fun presentation that I think would be helpful to all who plan on making a RotN game as it is almost like a complete overview of the RotN universe and how it got started.

Nice, but I would like to see some scoring of some kind either a percentage or a number of thumbs etc... or at least a pros/cons list at the end within the summary to help, like mods suggested, make a balanced opinion.

The other thing I can suggest is maybe some factual information about the game, in a table would be nice. Maybe just a small factsheet.

Just some thoughts, but good going; it was a pleasure to read :)

To me an adventure game is all about the story, almost like an interactive fiction. The challenge lies in the puzzles rather than in mouse dexterity or how many Nazi/alien/terrorist type characters you can kill per second. The story should be a journey and an adventure; relying little on action but on the thrill of the experiences and the exploration. The puzzles should not rely on skill but thought, a true adventure game puzzle should not, for example, require you to complete a jigsaw but instead, for example, require you to open a locked door without a key using the items in your pocket McGuyver style.

As much as I think an adventure game is about the story and puzzles it is also as important to be focused on the protagonist

To sum up briefly: story, puzzles, characters.

Yea I forgot about Kentish Town, I really like it. Good night life, close by, better public transport; but for me too hustley and bustley.

Yea I have to agree with the whole heroin is evil thing. She knew the risks, hasn't she ever seen Midnight Express? That's put me off even taking a risk of someone spiking my bag with drugs.
