The bad news: Yes yes, you heard right! It's finished.

fixed link :)
Now for the worse news: download me (947kb) (updated version at bottom of this post)

Piratess is a game about a female pirate who's had a bad day, she's been captured and is going to be hung for pirating, you need to escape.

And the even worse news: Unfortunatly I never got round to doing exactly what I wanted with this. It was meant to be a medium to long game, but due to me losing interest on yet another project and also due to my very limited time I've had to stop working on this. Unlike my other projects that have remained in a dark corner of my hard-drive, or been lost to the ages. I have spent the past 2 or 3 days running through it fixing any bugs and spelling / grammar I came across. I sorted out the game so it has some form of an ending, if you can call it that, and released it.

The project actually started out as a test of the LEC style GUI, and I really liked how it worked so I began to make it into a game. I made up a story and began to make it, and now here we are.

This is in it's entirity and is 100% finished (woohoo, I beat m0ds to the mark of releasing something before him).

Enjoy :D

Edit:
removed pressing '.' to skip text and will now allow mouse clicks, changed the ending to please ProgZ, and added some small fixes here and there. Saved game included so you can see the new ending without replaying the whole thing

I'm a big fan of the tv series an hope this game is good. It won't matter if the art isn;t perfect so long as you make up for it in other areas, such as story, music, dialog etc...

I would love to hear the music you've created for it and hope you get this project finished.

global warming is a made up thing like the boogie man or michael jackson used to scare kids into doings as they are told. It all stems back to the prehistoric times coming from the latin word globalis - meaing false and warmingulos - meaing story.

The following diagram explains this:

Umm this isn't working, any of you techies able to fix what's wrong, it's not recognising any of the sprites, and when I try to run it, it mentions something about a string not being able to be declared or something.  I really want to have a go to try to get this to work.

Error line 41 of global script:
type mismatch cannot convert 'const string to string'

Silver on the pc. I once found a dreamcast copy and bought it out of histeria... then realised I didn't have a dreamcast, so came seconds away from buying one just to play this game. Then I remembered my uncle once had the PC version (far superior to the dreamcast version), so I phoned him up and he still had it.

As for the wizard, it's completly up to you, if the movie sucked balls don't buy it. If it could sell for more than you pay for it, buy it and sell it.

General Discussion / Re: Time Travel?

i think thats a hawkin's theory about only travelling between periods of time machine... ness.

Think of it like a computer, you need a modem on either end to send and recieve the data, kinda makes sense if you transfer that theory to time travel.

You may have to be a cat owner to like this, but still my favourite clip I've seen in a long while.

The power to think at incredible speeds, which would render learning a much quicker task, as would things like reading and solving problems, and because of this hightened nerve response of the brain make me super-witty.

So yea my super-power would be quick thinking, you may think it's lame, you may yell "How's that going to stop Magneto from eating all the salsa dip", but I think it would be cool...

If we're talking about crime-fighting type of powers it would have to be being bulletproof or some suchness, that way I would have no fear of death or injury and so would be able to stop the baddies... yeah!!!! :D

Or the coolest superpower of them all -->  :=

Yup.... I'll name a few.

Playing world of warcraft - waiting for a group etc...
   - I'll repeatedly jump on the same spot or in circles, or try to jump onto a wall and balance myself somewhere.
back at schhol we had "THE GAME" (damn it)
   - The whole idea of "THE GAME" is to not think about "THE GAME". If you are thinking about it you lose, so you mention "THE GAME" to everyone else so that they are thinking of "THE GAME" and also lose.
CS:S
   - If I'm bored i'll either knife the wall or ground to make a smilie face or just shoot the scenery to see the different surface effects.
Web-Browsing
  - Try to count the pixels on screen :P (J/K)
  - Do random google image searches for the most errenuous items and see what page number displays the first porn image. Like "ketchup".... sometimes if you choose something abscure enough you get some funny images anyway.

The Rumpus Room / Re: AGS Questionaire!
Mon 27/02/2006 14:44:54
Name: Gary

Age: 19

Female/male: Male

1. How long have you been involved in the AGS community? Err... not really sure, probably 5 years, how long ago was AGS in DOS and I can probably work out.

2. Why did you get involved in AGS? Love point and click adventures, fancied making my own one. Downlaoded AGAST but didn't like it. Then found AGS.

3. How do you feel that the fact that AGS is a freeware programme affect the community that has built up around it? I think it's great that it's free as it's keeping a small gaming genre alive.

4. How big a part does the AGS community play in your life? Everyone on the community is great to talk to and consider a lot of you friends, so I feel a very personal relationship with many forum members.

5. Have you been involved in making any games using AGS? Yes. Apart from my mags game and the few demos of unfinished projects I was a beta tester on chick-chaser.

6. Answer these questions if you have been involved in making AGS games:

a. Were you interested in game design/programming before you started using AGS? I had an interest, but AGS was teh first attempt at doing any programming or game development. I remmeber in school I used to make kind of adventure game puzzles on pieces of paper and play with a friend. I would draw a map of a town, and kind of narate a story to my friend who would move around town doing things and solving murders.

b. If no, do you feel that you would have got into game design without AGS?

c. Do you make games using other programmes, either freeware or not? How does the eperience differ? AGS 4 Life ;)

d. Has AGS inspired you to try and take up game design professionally? Yes, but the market is too competetive and requires too much skill. I like doing it at an ametuer level as I have 100% of the say on what I get to make.

7. Do you feel that there is a gender divide in the AGS community? Not really

8. Are you likely to feel differently about a game if you discover it's made by a female? In what way? No. I've played games made by both male and female and some without even knowing who made it.

9. Do you feel that AGS makes it easier for females to get involved in computer game design? In what way? Yes, it has a large friendly community on the internet that welcomes in everyone, male or female.

10. Do you feel that there is a difference between the types of games created by males and females? I can't say I have noticed any difference. At the moment I'm trying to think of games made by females.

11. Any other comments?
Lots of gender oriented questions... :/
