I think the website idea is better. i think it would be cool to have it like the games page and we could have categories for the type of resource e.g art, scripts, code, templates etc...

Sounds like a good idea, and I offer my assistance in moderating this new system, whatever it is. :D

I think what we should do is create an in game readme file, which states:

"If you paid money for this game then that is illegal, this game is distributed as freeware and should NEVER be sold for profit"

but then people would't want to put it on the magazines at all, so we could add:
"... unless my strict permission is given, If you paid money for this game please e-mail me at me@myworld.com"

but e-mail address' change?

I think we need to start thinking about security of our games. I make games for anyone, FOR FREE, I'd hate to see someone pay decent, or even ANY, money for my games.

I'd feel better if it was on a cover CD, as they're paying for the magazine with a free distribution copy of my game, but that would never happen with my game :'(

C'est la vie

p.s how about j00arestehg4yf4gg0tware

Minimi you can enter, but if you win again the person who comes in second would get to choose the rules, so it is spread more evenly between people.

Also i'll scrap the anno 2003 part then. :D

What is MAGS?
MAGS is a monthly competition for all amateur adventure game makers. The idea is to use AGS to create a game in under a month, following the rules set by the previous winner.

For more information please visit the Official MAGS Website

Why should I enter MAGS?
I'm not here to tell you that you should enter MAGS, but merely allow it as a creative opportunity to help you work to a deadline, improve your skills, and generally as a good kick-start for the new comers (a.k.a n00bies).

MAGS is the perfect opportuninty to make a game, and the wonderful prize is to announce the net month's rules, and all competitiors get the game placed on the MAGS website.

MAGS is meant to be fun and is aimed at everyone, despite their skill. If you have poor art skills work on graphics, and vice-versa, as the voting is based on "favourite" games, and not the most artistic, you may get help for the competiton, but must not get anyone else to do any part of the game for you.

OCTOBER RULES
The game must contain at least 3 different inventory items that have never been used before in any adventure game*, and the inventory items must have something to do with a puzzle to complete the game.

the plot must contain one or more elements of the following:
-post apocalyptic world
-time travel
-divine intervention
-horror
-the meaning of life

Must contain one (or more) forum member(s) (or) their descendant

*Saying any adventure game is a bit too restrictive and confusing as most people havn't played ALL the adventure games EVER made, so we will restrict this to commercial Sierra/Lucas Arts games - SO NO RUBBER CHICKENS AND GUNS! we're looking for original.

As usual ALL games must be in by 25th October - Have Fun :D

That person has some amazing talent.

WOW, quite a lot of people have raised their hands, and I thank all of you, but I feel that I should really try to pull this together myself. Over the past few days I have come to realise how much I enjoy hosting MAGS, and how many more games I get to play becasue of it.

Before owning MAGS i never really played many of the games simply due to the quality of some of them, but I have grown to admire the skill, dedication and overall quality of the games.

It is at this point that I feel I do not want to give it up just yet, but savour it while I still can, to do this I will require help tho.

I wish to try to resurect the old ceremonies, but with nice, flashy newness, and bring back it's 1337 factor. I think that more people played MAGS games to watch the humourous ceremonies at the end so I am going to be looking for:

Character Artist's / Animators
Background Artist's

All I'll need is the same few rooms and one host character, and I will also get the winner to send me the protagonist .cha file to accept the award.

I may also require some help with the scripts for the ceremony, so If people could please come forward and offer some help I would much appreciate it.

Thanks

Magintz

P.S - Any help please e-mail me at magintz@blueyonder.co.uk

This month was very close, we had plenty of good games (although I feel ashamed I havn't had time to play any of them, but soon I will :D)

There was some trouble with Minimi and his "problem", but all that ahs been dealt with, everything is back to how it was and we are not going to disqualify him because this is a fun competition.

This month was very fun and it seems very odd that this may be the first time this has happened, but we have a draw!

Yes you heard me! a draw, between Puddy Penguin by Minimi and Genbus Favour by taryuu.

What we shall do is let mini-mi and taryuu each send me their suggestions for the rules and I shall decide upon a happy medium, please try to get your ideas to me ASAP, as the extension of this month has not left much time to organise next month.

Heh, well the original ms paint image took me literally 1 minute tops, then in photoshop I spent about 10 minutes, coz the coffee stain and textures were being real ba*tar*s.

I might post a little tute for the coffee stain, but not tonight coz I have work to do.

Ciao
#895
Would anyone actually be interested in playing this game purely from the screenshot
#896
TK - That seems to be the problem with me, everythign is becoming messy, but thanks to the new MAGS site things are nice and easy.

I'd like someone to come in, who could put together a monthly ceremony like DG used to, and someone to remember which games are in development and also to remember to not forget about the deadlines - occasionally it might be extended to help people (e.g this month with Ginny)
