Well. Here's our hero, Maximilian Douleur, saving the world from an evil dictator who tries to drag all nations into 3rd world war.

Well, he doesn't even need the whip. On second thought, I don't even want to begin to think about that.

Most of the folks who post here are from the UK, USA or Aus.
I thought most posters here were Scandinavians.

I ment 120 wide and 160 tall but both are acceptable.  Nice work (all 3 of you so far)! :)

I'm more curious about the dip around 18.  What is it about that age that makes kids go off adventure game making?

Legal age of drinking. Well, in most places at least. Then when they sober up they come back.

What's "KS" and "OK"?

Random, mixed case alphanumeric. Takes a while to learn a new one, especially the longer ones, but they're safe from guessing  8)

For several years I've had my full name, birthdate, photos, photos of my house, full address, driving instructions and phone number up on the web. I use this nick for forums/irc since it's rarely taken, but it's formed of my name, MAttila KRIstian and I always enter the full one in irc client's real name field. I don't really see why people are so paranoid about their identity on the internet, I bet there's million times bigger risk of getting in the way of an axe murderer just by leaving your home for work every day.

So, as an answer to the question, yes, I would put my realname in the credits if I ever managed to finish my first game. It would be just plain silly to have done all that work and not take credit of it (no, I don't really get the Tierra guys :) ).

I'd stick with the real mbnet address, since the frames limit bookmarking/linking/indexing and the dot.tk address has a popup banner.

For the looks, a nice plain layout like that is worth more than trillion sites designed by "multimedia professionals". If I'd do something different, I might use bigger text and set it in css rather than in font tags.

I added some info in the Isle Thing thread on how I made my sea. Although I think my way works better with more close up views.

Since it's been a while since the last sprite jam closed and Evil hasn't started a new one, I'll do it because I was named as the runner up. If this isn't acceptable, then kill the thread. Here we go:

Moose Man, the superhero of Agsville, giving a news photo pose after once again catching evil villains.

Size: 120 x 160 px
Colours: 8

Happy pixelinatization!

Here's how I did my sea:

1. three-tone base
2-3. push tool, (in PSP) size 8 opacity 55
4. push & smudge, bigger brush, bigger strokes, less opacity
5. height 50% resize to be used closer to the horizon
6. tile the sea area, resized ones on top
7. push & smudge the tile sides
8. blue gradient layer
9. gradient layer's opacity to ~ 55%

In conclusion, asking people what the best so and so is, is usually not very productive.

You're just pissed because no one mentioned the dog kennel!!1

12431: The grass was done pretty much the same way. Base colour, lightness up/down tool, some smudging and colour decrease.

Ghormak: Yeah that's still unfinished but not scrapped. I'm just very slow :)

This is how I work:

1. Colour rough shapes with 3-4 colours
2. Push tool (small brush, medium opacity)
3. Darkness up/down tools to add shadowed areas
4. Cut down colours (in this case, 14 shades of brown)

I think my point was that "optimizing" a page for certain target audience (eg. IE5.0+ users who have JavaScript enabled and who run their browser on 1024 x 768 screen maximized) is generally considered to be bad design choice.

It's quite easy to make a page that reaches 100% of the users and still looks good. Regrettably small number of web site designers want to go for it though.

According to TheCounter's global statistics, 86% of users leave their JavaScript enabled (and 84% have Java enabled, but Java has nothing to do with JavaScript).

I didn't want to sound that much html purist :)

A crippling flaw is that the gallery doesn't work unless JavaScript is enabled. Size wise it's not awfully bad, being slightly under 70 KB, and the html is mostly valid.

user-agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; WinNT; en; rv:1.0.2) Gecko/20030311 Beonex/0.8.2-stable

Improvement suggestions:

- Leave out all JavaScript - scripting is supposed to be done at server side, not at the client end.
- Leave out the frames. Everything that can be done with frames can be done better without them.
