Only thing looking odd is the land seems to be curving upwards at the sides, like this - "U" . It would normally be straight or curved downwards (like an upside down U but much gentler).

So the problem is the shape of the island?

Edit: Maybe a different shape would help? This one was drawn with helper lines from 1 point perspective layer.

Looks a lot better now. I think I'd try something different with the cracks too... Not sure what.

Like this:

For proper depth perception, the lines should all lead to one vanishing point. This was taken from the angles of the walls leading to street, but it would probably make things easier to have it more closer to the centre.

I think the contrast of lit/shaded areas might be too strong. The perspective on the boxes still needs some correcting. Maybe add couple more patches on the wall where bricks are visible. Overall, it looks quite nice and functional.

Here's a background I've been experimenting with. It's an attempt to draw in style of KQ/FOA/QFG. It's supposed to have some bushes and a tree, some taller grass etc. so it wouldn't look like poured-on green slime on a tree stump. I'm trying to finish bigger things first but I'm having problems pointing out problems.

It's drawn in PSP, mostly by freehand mousing, smudge+colour cut and zoomed in pixel by pixel work. C+c and ideas welcome.

Here's a new one with different shape:

Most people who want to go for S&M (!) or DOTT -style backgrounds seem to do a weird perspective with random lines pointing whereever and think that that's it. That's where studying the references becomes essential. Drawing DOTT style is just as much following strict rules as drawing Indy FOA style. It's  warped but it's anything but random.

For tutorials, anything that tells how to draw correctly in perspective would be a good start. 3-point, close vanishing points gives a nice warped result.

The walls are off perspective... that makes the room look sloped.

Well, my job as a computer/network techie/admin/support person would be quite a lot easier. So I'd just sit in my office all days and enjoy The Silence of the Phones.

I hope they wouldn't sack me.
