It's probably possible to rip the models and put them into Uru: Ages Beyond Myst's engine*... then construct a decent game out of them.

Actually, that's not a bad idea.

That's be all well and good if the models weren't crap, too. :(

I love the art style for this - looks great! Downloading now... :)

EDIT:
Just finished and loved it, thanks! Really short and left me wanting more. The sound effects were really good, btw and gave the animations real force.

My God, you're kind! :)

I'll get this tested in the next few hours and get back to you.

Thanks so much.

EDIT: Works a dream!

tzachs's idea sounds like the simplest solution. I'll have a go at it tomorrow. Thanks everyone :)

Actually, would putting a:

Code: ags

if (active inv = key)
{
Mouse.ChangeModeView(key cursor animation view);
}

in repeatedly_execute_always for all inventory items work?

So, I'd like to be able to have an animated inventory item cursor hotspot marker sprite. At the moment, the ordinary cursor will animate when over a hotspot/object. I want to have the inventory cursors to do the same.

Any ideas?

Have I missed this somewhere in the help file/manual?

Thanks,
Mark

REALLY like the look of this... Art is very nice, clear and simple! :)

Like the sound of the story, too.

Good luck with it.

I just wrote a little post about this game over at HardyDev.com

It's not bad for what it is. Not really sure I'd call it an adventure game though, really. But it's an amusing little diversion. Hopefully, if they make more of these, they'll take on board what works and what doesn't.

Not a lot of the "game" part worked, to be honest. Neither did the character models. I doubt they will change it all.

Oh yeah and the voice acting is god-awful. Gave the impression Smith and Gillan couldn't be arsed with a 'silly video game' or something.
#190
Yeah, I was lucky to catch it at the Arts Centre on campus. I can't imagine many standard cinemas will be showing it.

It won't be long before it's shown on Film4, hopefully.

I got bored on the THIRD stealth bit and gave up. The character models are sub Fifa 2004 as well...
#192
I agree with you totally. It was brilliant and managed to make me laugh uncontrollably and be poignant and thought provoking all at the same time.

The few developers who have managed to sell AGS games successfully have also, quite inconveniently for everyone else, made something that is very difficult and time consuming look very easy. You shouldn't let it stop you trying, though. :)

Too bad there wasn't a puzzle to build something out of them.

The scripting would have killed me! :P

Glad you liked it.
#195
Oh, of course. I need to make some cursor images for all the inv items. All this will hopefully get added in the 'post-MAGS' build :)
#196
That's odd about being stuck, the walkable area is a big rectangle covering the whole area. :S

How do you mean

the sled is difficult to attach to the robot?

Bugger, re: picking up the sled. It's not urgent though, so I won't re-upload it again...

Re-downloading then.... never saw that message. Sorry.

Not your fault, mine. For over-looking the inclusion of a simple if statement. ;)

Spoiler
The "use the bug on robot too early" bug is now fixed.

It's a complete game ruiner. :( If you re-download this is now fixed. The box is a reference to the film, so it would be nice to have some fun little animations, yes... :) There is one of these for if you use the bug on Eve, however.

I was going to make that joke in my reply but thought against it! ;)

@Darius Poyer: Yeah, because of the nature of the gui I'd created and some of the logic, it worked best as a kids game. Thanks for the praise. :)

@roll: Yes, all the graphics were drawn by me.
