Estimated release date: December 21, 2012.

That last line was the icing on the cake!

Wow, sounds great! Definitely the most exciting game announcement so far this month... ;)

Love the platformer-esque style of the pixel art. Very very good if you are just learning! :)

Small Update.

First post has been edited to reflect the progress I've made. Graphics and scripting now up to ~70%.

I've added a new "Polish" progress bar because it will need a lot before beta testing starts and it means I can ramp the others up to 70%! ;D

Oh, and here's a screenie if you missed it from the critics' lounge:

Spoiler
OK, back again. I've got the Molotov Cocktail on the cell door. It won't let me light it but there is no way I can warn George...

I've still got the cut-out from when this was in the "letters" section of the local paper... ;D

OK, I'm stuck right at the beginning! :P

Spoiler
I've spoken to everyone in the supermarket and the pub. I've talked to the shaman guy. I have all the objects from the shaman shop and the supermarket. I've got rid of the guy waiting in the coffee shop but not the woman. I've also gone to the creepy house and read the book on the shelf. I've gone up to the cave exterior but can't do anything there. Can't do anything anywhere now, in fact. I'm a bit lost...

Sorry to be depressing but after all the fiddling about, I still like the very first image best. With a few little bits tidied up it is a simple, clean, clear background.

P.S. Kris's edit makes my eyes hurt! ;D

Yeah, I really like the retro one. There are a few things that need neatening up because of the conversion, though:

1. There is a rough bit of shading or something by the door that needs simplifying.
2. The yellow beam in the sky looks really silly in the retro version.
3. As with the yellow beam, you need to alter the red cubes and the purple lines, they stand out (in a bad way) and it isn't clear what they are.
4. Put some glass in the window.

Other than those things it's fab! :)

EDIT: The animations are really impressive! The guy needs to stand up straighter in the side view, though.

1) post in the CL ...

This is great advice because, even if you don't get good critique (which you will, of course!) it will motivate you to finish the background and improve on what you have. And people will tell you it's good, etc. Which is nice...

That leaving a message box (the yellow things that pop-up when you mouse-over) open bug happens in many many programs. I think it's probably a windows bug more than an AGS bug.

Yeah, just report them. CJ can re-create the situation in the newest iteration of the editor then, to check whether it is still a problem...

the double click mechanism has already been coded.. but no map.. it would mess with plot too much

Any chance of making it a module or posting the code somewhere. I'm guessing that feature could come in handy for a lot people...

So unless I find some willing pixel artist who is better than me, they are likely to stay the same with a few touch ups here and there.

If only I had the time...

Still, I doubt it will put anyone off, they were more than functional enough first time round.

Well since you asked, Epi 2 will mostly take place beneath the mansion but there will be some of the original locations as well.

Re-drawn? ;)

Super cheesey but it looks lovely! :)

Thanks again for the comments everyone - all this enccouragement/pressure ( :D ) really spurs me on!

Lets just say Ben's returning a favour... Also, he's much better at 'dialogue' than me!
