You know the little bush thing in the bottom left?

I think more of these around the place, especially around the far right tree. This would look good.

And also what I said before ^^ :P

Maybe bring the felled tree forward a bit and darken it? This will create a more defined fore-ground.

I like this a lot, the shading is very impressive!

This is fantastic, and your second edit was a real improvement, with all the suggestions took on board.

I think the second row of trees are important to the style. I don't really have anything against them.

The "entertain" bit is good, carry it on to continue the word properly.

And make something out of the "fire storm" bit, as it isn't particularly striking.

Life On Mars - was amazing!
Hustle - Always brilliant.
Spooks - another favourite.
New Tricks - is surprisingly funny!

I always "grew up" with the Beneath a Steel Sky set up, and it always seems really intuitive. Lucas arts classics are good too though, the GUI almost adds to the charm.

Even if this feature is advertised, then this would improve it. You see I didn't realise you could do that.

Hotspots annoying, and I got stuck because I clicked too quick and didn't read what the sailor said to me. Now, all I can do is type in the box, yet I haven't the first clue what to write because I didn't see what he said. I suggest you add a "say that again please" dialogue option with the text box.

Apart from that, very good.

joelphilippage, that's very Quentin Blake! I like it.

Go with Neil Dnuma's edit, as then it completely changes the perspective of the water at the front, so we need no longer get all confused about it! :P

The rest of the edits are very good, but...

If the river at the front of the scene is getting closer to the camera rather than falling off a hill or something it needs to get progressively wider as it comes towards the front of the background.

This has been mentioned before, but I still don't think it is wide enough.

Like this maybe, but touched up and much better, with the rivers flow extending outwards as well.

markbilly: done and done.  better you think?

Yeah, excellent!

I agree, all goes to Neil Dnuma.

Although, TheJBurger, that is fantastic, it doesn't have the individuality. I really wish I could draw that well though!

Are you going to make your own mouse interface, different to that of the existing AGS default? Maybe a Broken Sword or Beneath a Steel Sky type one?

I think this always improves a game made with AGS. As I personally believe that a less clunky interface fits many games better.

The water at the top of the waterfall needs to be lighter, like the water flowing over the edge, as it would be pretty fast-flowing at the top.

This will also make it easier to identify, I've only just worked out quite what the waterfall was :P

The trees need to get smaller the nearer the top of the screen, they get. To be consistent with the perspective of the castle. I'm surprised no one has pointed this out yet...

He originally mentioned something about making an RPG, if I'm not mistaken.  Most classically styled overhead RPGs don't seem to account for that.

Yeah, but because of the size, it really stands out. Plus, I'm not sure this is the ideal perspective, you need to use something like what Medical Waste has posted...

Looks great.

Maybe a slightly lighter outline around the shoes, and sort the shading on the front view trousers and he'll be perfect!

I updated the first post drawing a bigger castle.

Windows? Arrow slits? Flags?

All these additions would improve it greatly.

I think Neil Dnuma's is excellent. It would work really well as a Background, with maybe the character in a boat, or just used in a cut scene. The whole scene has lots of character, and the water looks very good as well.
