Hooray for Baron's 1000th post!
We should convince WHAM to create a new community game, that was really great.
Take care and it is really comforting to know that whatever we do or say, you'll be there: watching, nursing odd thoughts about our personas, silently making comments about our bad sense of humour, thinking that monocles should be trendy but at the same time being proud of being the only AGser with a monocle...

I've laughed and farted simultaneously before but nothing compared to the noisy fanfare the reading of this thread brought me.

I just want to say that Adam West can still be found in Family Guy and that he does...er...a good job. He's damn funny!

Hi Armageddon,

My experience told me that it varies a lot.
I supply drawn B&W backgrounds to a artist, he then colors it and may correct some perspective issues as well.
I'm sure that a full original background will increase the price.
When I started gathering artists to my game, on various internet sites, I received really discrepant values.
I'm not telling you how much I pay now (it's not much, I'm just a working normal guy) but I can tell you that I had this guys wanting 400 dollars for coloring a background! On the other hand, there were people that would do it for free, for 5 bucks, 10, 20, etc...
So, it's clear that professionals and guys that have been doing it for a while will charge you a lot of money. Amateur artists will drop the price according to their own experience of market prices as well, or if they are just starting to be paid for work, etc...

One thing I am sure of is that free artists don't really work out well. For both ends of the deal. You can't really expect that your work will be done in a decent amount of time and they will eventually loose interest or give priority to paid work. You may also loose a good friend...

My opinion on this is pretty much what has been said regarding negative issues with photo sprites.
There is the light issue and Goldmund had to turn every frame into a small gray pallete, it worked in his game but I guess it restricts the genre into horror and similar.
The angle that you will shoot your characters will be a massive task when trying to fit it into backgrounds.
But this said, and because you have cinema experience, you can be starting something that no one achieved before.
If you have the time and will to build cinematic rooms with different angles and thousands of sprites then it can become something really cool.

At the moment, nobody did it really well. But that doesn't mean you can't do it.

Don't you think Batman movies are much better recently than the older ones but the actresses are less hotter now?
Kim Bassinger or Michelle Pfeifer, you can't beat that!
Therefore my guess for this one is clearly The Man Behind The Mask.

This actor wears the same clothes in all his 2 movies.

On a side note, without Thatcher we would not have Robert Wyatt's Shipbuilding and a lot of angry punk rock...with every crisis the poets are the ones to speak for the people, I guess...

I really liked The Life Aquatic, the best being Seu Jorge (It means Your Jorge) singing Bowie songs.

I also liked Rocky IV for different reasons.

Thank you LucasArts(Films) for great adventure games!

I have the feeling that even Double Fine productions or if Ron Gilbert keeps making adventure games, the outcome will be something really different from those classic LucasArts games. It's not even a feeling, it is a fact.
I mean, to make retro-like adventure games you don't need millions of dollars, you need a solid small and talented team.
I read that Double Fine were asking for 18M to make Psychonauts 2!!! The investor (minecraft) lost interest...

So, will we get something of a mix between Psychonauts and Grim Fandango? Would it work?
We hope so, but anyway we should not feel nostalgic about LucasArts, they belong to the Classic Age now and that's a good thing.
