General Discussion / Re: My wish for 2010

I do too, we just can't help it. Lucky are the ones that weren't born in Uganda or other countries like that. They do not have a choice...

Looks really cool Wesray, it has that AGS feeling...

World Peace is impossible as long as people still think 2000 year-old religions are the problem and not themselves.

I guess so,
I prefer the first one as well, but the buildings on the left look strange...

Ben:  thanks, coming from you it's a big YES to me. I'll get rid of those white spots! It's a promisse!

Ascovel: thanks for the compliment, I wasn't really sure I had the craft to go for this kind of backgrounds...

1) yup, I'll put it higher;

2) I didn't notice it and it was accidental, maybe the bright blue and not having any reflection contrasts with the pavement;

3) yes, that was the "fill" situation...

To both, thank you very much, hope you can continue to help me out on this on further improvements!

Another update with the tips you all been giving me!

Well, everybody's talking about your game Calin, so it's always a good thing!

My opinion on the game is that I'm playing it and enjoying every part of it so far.
All the good things people said about your game I do agree with, and they clearly beat the not so good things.

To all that haven't played this game:
if your looking for entertainment at a very high level considering it's an amateur game then this is the game to play!

The town screen is very well acomplished, should look great when painted.
Your character art is pretty cool as well.

As for the kids fairytale style I didn't mean to follow that, it's just the way I draw.
I guess I do relate to the link you gave me.

Thanks for the support, I will for sure avoid Photoshop effects and keep with the pen and paper direction.

Thanks for the reply, Ryan,
I'll draw the characters on top of the paper drawn background on another paper, that way I'll not loose sense of dimensions, then will scan those.
This screen will be the opening sequence and I'm not planing on having inplay screens that far from our eyes anyway but I know what you mean, it can get weird with small characters loosing detail.

As for the craquelure efect I think you're right, it felt bad when I did it and it was a dumb choice when I think about it.

You didn't mention color selections so I believe I'm on the right track...

I decided on going with this style of drawings for my next project,

What do you think?
Is it too "unclean", even if it's not fully painted?

For the following year I wish I can cut down the nasty habit of spending long hours playing KingsAge, therefore not spending long hours with AGS...

I also want to make a decent game with scanned drawings but that's what I say every year!

Happy new year to everybody!

Geoff Byrne is the name of a character from the Weel of Time series, but from the look of the character I don't think it has nothing to do with it!

Are you going for a Weel of Time adventure, Sampy?

I declare myself guilty of putting copyrighted music in my projects.
My current project will come out with about 10 or more tracks from various artists.
Although I know it is illegal I sometimes feel I'm doing them a favour rather than stealing their rights as I don't earn a dime with the games and clearly promote their music to a restrict bunch of guys that do download my games.
But yes, I don't advise anyone to do it.

Completed Game Announcements / Re: Awakener

Great stuff again Ben.
Thanks for sharing it with us.
#1679
Of course it's not horrible!

Maybe the choice of colours mess with my head. I'd go for a warmer feel.
Anyway, as I said, it's a brilliant DEMO.
Keep it up!
#1680
I think it's a great job you're doing.
I really enjoyed playing the DEMO.
Dialogues and characters keep the spirit of the originals very well. I sort of went back many years back in time and didn't think that it was just another amateur MI remake.

But, I think that the Scumm Bar screen isn't as good as the rest of it. It's a shame really and I guess you could change it on the final version.

Anyway, you did a pretty good job with this DEMO.
Good luck!
