General Discussion / Re: The Hobbit II

I understand what you're saying but is it really that bad that PJ lost weight and has a different look?
As far as I can see from the 2 movies, the message is still the same of Tolkien: friendship, honour, believing in one's capabilities and so on.
The Lord of The Rings was a global thing that moved people that didn't know Tolkien to the cinemas, I think that the people with the money were afraid that The Hobbit wouldn't do as well if it was a more conservative kind of movie so we got CGI sequences and all that. Do we Tolkien fans appreciate it? Probably not, but new generations will have to decide either to see The Hobbit or 47 Ronin...

I'd really want to see The Wheel of Time done by Jackson and his crew. That would be epic in every way, it's a massive work and Jackson proved that he can turn epics into movies.

Welcome back! We all take some time from AGS but always comeback.

You're right Ryan, let's see what the dinner guests all have to say about it. If our traders and merchants aren't happy with this friendship we have a good excuse to decline the pirate proposal and still have him know that we tried.

+1

Sounds good to me!

I've been playing this gem for a while now and there's only good stuff I can say about it.
You've captured the fantasy rpg mood completely and that's important to keep players "inside" your world. It worked for me.
I also like how you've structured you interface and interactions with objects and npc's, after a while it becomes intuitive and that's really good considering you're using the now old-right click to cycle verbs.
So far I'm enjoying the good music, graphics and quests while my character (mage) gets stronger and able to stay out in the woods longer.
It's been a great experience so far. Congrats to all the team at Crystal Shard.

I got gasses as well.
I had a very warm bathrobe that became my best friend (I also got a cold), a cool Vans wallet, small but very stylish and it's leather. Those were Santa's gifts.
Because I'm greedy I bought myself a drawing tablet and a Fujifilm camera that I'm practising on everything that moves on the house!

Pointy hats! Who is he trying to fool?
Seriously, we should find out with our traders if there's any inconvenient on signing on with pirates. If not, I'm all for having "friends" in high sea.

> Accept the gift and invite him to dinner tonight; When he's gone summon our merchants and trader representatives and inquire about this pact with the pirate.

All you've said may be true but I don't mind having a Tolkien based movie every Xmas, and c'mon guys, the movie wasn't that bad. I too have read the Hobbit and still hold great memories of it but it doesn't kill the experience I had. In fact, watching it made me go back to book 5 of the Wheel of Time and finish it, a book that was gaining spider webs for nearly 3 years!

Would you give shelter to a stranger knowing that he's being chased by unknown people?

Yup, you're on the right path Emont. Lots of talent for a first game. Congrats!

If Rorik is afraid of staying at a inn it clearly means someone is after him. We need to know more before we give him shelter.
I know we need friends and immediate danger isn't our concern but who the hell scares him so much?
I say we do things subtly but do it.

> Grant Rorik the privilege of dinning with the King, Jesterino and Lancelot, at the end of the day and turn (this should be our last action). The purpose of our warm, candlelit meal is to allow Rorik to tell us of his travels and adventures. Doing it at the end of the day(turn) will allow us to keep him standing by and us to carry on all the orders of the day.

#695
But who does he fear in our town and regular inns? Shouldn't we know more of the fate of his friends?
I'm okay with helping him and with what you both said. Maybe there's something to gain with his stay and knowledge but shouldn't we know more?

That's a great xmas present!
Can I get an interview? I have all those interesting topics to talk about, like religion, science vs religion, aliens, why Portuguese get their testicles removed if they cross the line and of course: games!
Just saying.
