My opinion is that if you really want to have lots of work remaking or demaking something that was already done, then go ahead. It will be tons of animations, dialogue and backgrounds not to mention coding...and it was already done before by experienced people...
My point is, think twice before diving into a big project, any kind of big project really. But having so much work on something that isn't ours is something that doesn't work with me. But that's just me.

Qptain Nemo mentioned OSD games (I'm also currently doing a OSD game between projects) and it looks like something you could work on as well as a first project. Or the RON series. RON is a great place to start that allows you to focus on scripting above everything else.

Because you wanted an opinion, I'll say that you should go original content all the way.

I strongly oppose this purchase guys. We should think really well on where to spend our money.
It does sound like a good buy but as far as we know the people are happy and the city is active and dynamic, we have dozens of people that want to speak to us and nobody had any complaint about food.
I know that things may change but maybe it should be better to access the real food production of our kingdom, like said before: grain, meat, fish, etc...

I've got a sketch as well to show:

Droit du seigneur or Right of the Lord,
refers to a collection of putative similar rights allowing the lord to spend a night and have sexual relations with a subordinate woman. They also are known as prima nocta, mainly when they include the notion of "first night".
According to the most known variant, it was a legal right allowing the lord of a medieval estate to take the virginity of his serfs' maiden daughters.

Ponch,
iconic master pieces more often become cult artwork than something praised by the common folk.

With no benefit whatsoever for me I invite every reader of this thread to try out the Barn Runner series. Why?
Because its creator is a talented cow artist with broad skills from design, artwork and story telling.
If you still wonder why to play the Barn Runner series, then don't forget that the cow creator draws the most perfect boobs ever made in video game history.

Time Stone was cool.

Baron, fantastic work! Thanks for that!
I also think we should extract as many information from the merchant as we can, so

Quote> Ask MERCHANT his name, where he was born, and who he's related to, and what does he know and think of the surrounding KINGS
, ask him for a map of all his routes and significant places/towns/kingdoms (even if we have to spend an extra turn);

I too believe that we need more guards/soldiers and I believe Baron and me wanting for a census of our kingdom to on early posts. We could then find out how many unemployed fit men could be trained by Lancelot.

Spoiler
Ryan, sorry to reprehend your ideas before, peace!

Ryan, I think Wham has done a great job. It's not easy to encapsulate a fantasy story into a forum game. At first things look strange but as we play it's easy to see why Wham does it this way.
Also, the commands we supply are quoted and supported if they sound interesting to other players, it's not fair to Wham to give him 3,4 commands in a row and it's less likely that other players will support your ideas.

I completely forgot about the princess and the key, probably the main goal of this game!
But, yes, the list is a good idea and supported by many.

There's every likelihood that the next mysterious audience will be a qualified gardener!  Or at least an unemployed gnome....  Really, what we need is a secretary who can peek into the waiting room and compile a list of who is waiting, so that we can prioritize our audiences and make more efficient use of our royal time.  For the time being I guess the Jester can handle that:

>> ORDER JESTER TO LIST NAME AND BUSINESS OF ALL VISITORS & PETITIONERS WAITING FOR AN AUDIENCE

And then that wraps up the day, so....

>> CHILLAX FOR A BIT!

Also, we should start thinking about a queen for our king, or at least a night out on the local tavern. Kings rule better when sexually satisfied. And the cow is not an option.

A gardener shouldn't be our priority at the moment, although I have the feeling that once we have a wizard he'll want herbs and shit.:=
