I respect that he's prepared to talk politics with anyone, from the far right all the way to the centre right.

Lol fair enough

I'd like to watch his videos, but I'm too afraid of being DESTROYED with FACTS and LOGIC.

Haha yeah in one video he reaches through the screen a shakes the viewer viciously by the collar.

I think this interview with Rogan is actually the Diet Coke of Alex Jones, and it is pretty crazy.

Wow that Alex Jones shop is just a page of tears.

The thing to keep in mind with Alex Jones is that he's admitted to the courts that he's just playing a character and he's not like that in reality. My problem with him is that his "character" is about as vile as it gets, inspiring his followers to go after the parents of the victims of school shootings, calling them a conspiracy/hoax. He calls people he doesn't like satanic forces, evil, etc., and a lot of his ignorant fan base takes him seriously. I really like Joe Rogan, but I don't like that he gives time to people like this without setting the stage properly. I suppose it's like inviting "Borat" onto your show as a character, but in a world where most people think Borat is a real person.

I had never actually heard this guy speak before, as I just assumed what you generally hear about him - he's nuts and inciting hate. He is indeed nuts and draws wildly erratic conclusions about everything, but I have to say he's clearly a pretty quick thinker and I can see how his presentation style is entertaining to certain audiences. That's interesting that he had to admit it is an act in court, but I think he's more living his character than Borat. I mean, Borat is a made up persona. Perhaps Alex Jones himself is kind of confused between what is his character and what is really him.

I don't mind Joe bringing these types on. I mean, Alex Jones has been referenced by both Hillary and Trump, and he's got a massive following. I am an average guy, and I appreciate the opportunity to see what he is about in a context that is usually pretty skeptical (Joe is usually pretty good about telling guests to question themselves and support their views with evidence).

Alex Jones was on a few days back. He strikes as a nut 80% of the time, but 20% of his ideas seem plausible. His problem is he goes from talking about a somewhat regular subject (i.e. the US elections) to 'aliens are taking over the planet' in less than 10 seconds.  (laugh) Every other sentence out of Joe's mouth was trying to get him to calm down.

I've really been enjoying this Aussie offering lately. Brewed in bottle, so they've got a natural cloud and bit of sediment. Really classic flavour and very nice colouring:

Beer must be an acquired taste, when I tried a pomegranate flavored beer I didn't care for it, though it probably didn't help that the beer was room temperature instead of cold.

An argument can be made that pomegrenade is an aquired taste  (laugh)

Found this fancy little trio in a local supermarket.

Tasty stuff. Pretty strong for beer (around 7.5 revolutions), but man. Dark and tasty. I glued a cog to my glass to drink in style.

Interesting cans! I'm glad the beer turned out OK. Once in a while, I'll pick up a handful of beers simply for their unique marketing approaches, but it's really a crap shoot whether they are going to taste nice. For example, there's this Canadian brewer called Flying Monkeys (http://www.flyingmonkeys.ca/). Really elaborate cans, but the few times I tried them have been disappointing. This one is sort of a flat, drab, mildly fruity offering (not recommended):

Yeah, that definitely wouldn't help. I can't think of any beer that tastes nice at room temperature.

Was that the only time you tried beer?
It was indeed the only time I ever had beer.

Oh wow, well yes I guess luke warm pomegranate beer would turn someone off for good. Reminds me of the time I had a luke warm Spitfire ale. Horrible. Absolutely horrible. Undrinkable. (When cold a very nice beer!)

If you're willing to give it another go, follow Khris' advice. An idea might be to get yourself a well known lager (something pop culture has given a thumbs up might be the best introduction as not too complicated for the taste buds - Amstel, Heineken, Foster's, etc) and make sure you serve it cold this time!  :P

Very cool article. Thanks for sharing.

It's really hard not to draw parallels to the crap early days of other internet based services. I remember in the 90s figuring out really obvious ways to hack into my friends' geocities accounts or even things like gaming early pay per click services. I appreciate your skepticism, and I'm trying not to be stupidly optimistic, but as the article reports: each hack did indeed have a fix. Maybe some of the fixes weren't pretty (i.e. forking ETH and telling everyone to be cool with it  (laugh) ), but in the end the technology gets incrementally better. 51% takeovers of some of the less popular tokens are going to be extremely painful, extremely costly lessons, but the machinery of cryptocurrency will carry on in a slightly more specific form, and at some point a small handful of winning projects (or maybe just one project) will emerge.

One thing that gave me a laugh in the article is the rise of these new auditing technologies for crypto. I mean, crypto nerds used to espouse how projects like Bitcoin would pull humanity completely away from traditional banking and now you need a blockchain based auditing service.  (laugh)

My most recent beer was a Scofflaw Double Basement IPA:

Delicious, and 10.5% ABV.

Scofflaw Brewing Company has some good beer.  Basement IPA is good at 7.5% ABV.  They also have a version called POG Basement (POG stands for passionfruit, orange, and guava) that is mighty tasty.

You may notice by reading my posts that I live in the Atlanta, GA area.  There are a lot of great breweries here.

Sounds great. Yeah I like this age of independent breweries.  :P

Sometimes I like a beer for a pop culture reference behind it. For example, I read this short book by Murakami, What I Talk about When I Talk about Running, and in it the main character runs some crazy race that's longer than a marathon. When he's finished, he grabs an ice cold roadside Amstel.  8-) I'm living that spirit now.  ;)

Cool insight. Yeah I'm not saying sell the farm over this. But I'll maintain that profiting from the oscillating interest is likely to carry on into the foreseeable future. For example, I first heard about Bitcoin in 2013, which is 6 years after its launch. I watched at the sidelines while the price rose (I think $2K high or something) and then fell into obscurity and everyone said what you're saying now "there is no pattern to its growth" etc. But then WannaCry happened and everyone got excited again. I put money in and watched it go up 4x and then nose dive, and I'm sure there are plenty that watched the whole thing happen just like I did in 2013. The next build up and drop will rope these spectators in and the process repeats. Also, this same process happened several times even before I heard of Bitcoin in 2013 (if you map the Google trend searches for 'Bitcoin' with market cap and price charts you can see it's this constant oscillating in value as more and more people attempt to research BTC).

Anyway, you're right ~ there's definitely an irrational exuberance to it all. I highly doubt the majority of the money in BTC has any real idea of how BTC works. But I think the waves of interest and disinterest are far from over, and BTC is the only project with the branding and media attention to attract n00b capital, so from a purely speculative standpoint it is a likely bet that a few bucks in BTC will net something in the next few years.

Anyone have an experience with finding an audience?

I've become all too familiar with the feeling of publishing a game at the end of a lengthy > 6 month long dev cycle to receive very small metrics, if any.

We've improved, promoted on social media, diversified, added routine non-game content for retention,  It just doesn't seem to be working out.

In the past I've discussed going to expos/conventions and demoing the game but realistically you can only really see about 30 people a day. Of those 30, maybe 4 or 5 will follow up.

Maybe building a YouTube following as you develop would help? Filming content that covers some of your development day mixed with comment on trending topics would net you a following that's invested in you as a personality and wanting to buy products from a person of interest. Plus, comment on trending topics would get you traffic from outside this niche community.
