Whatever happened to renaming Columbus after this guy? (laugh)

Very cool game~ My son and I are enjoying it!

I got around to playing it a couple days ago. Firstly - I love the premise and the drab colour palette and general dreariness of the environment (i.e. living with mom, food stamps, no one trusts each other, everyone stealing everything they can, state propaganda everywhere - brilliant~ sets the scene well in just three screens), plus I'm also a sucker for anything CGA (or seemingly CGA as in this case).

I got stuck here:

Spoiler
I've got the screwdriver, card with sewing holes, food stamps and shopping list. I can tell I need to steal the light switch from the old lady, and I'm assuming I need to fix her TV to be able to do this but I can't seem to figure it out from here! If mom's phone call would come in, I'd call that single guy advert that seems to be looking for a lover of any age and introduce him to the old lady, but...

What should I do here?

I think the dialogue works very well, although there is something finnicky about clicking through the text that pops up. I can click once to get the whole message to display quickly, but then clicking is irresponsive (for a few seconds) to progress to the next message. Some items have several pages of text, so it is a bit frustrating to have these click delays as you try to escape a messaging thread you've already been through. Also, there is a 'room' that can be seen to the far right of ego's home (with mom). Is this accessible? It's confusing because ego walks through some black 'walls' but not this one.

It's otherwise a really cool premise and a very fun game. I don't know why, but I get the feeling this game would work really well on mobile. I could totally see myself killing a subway ride while playing this.

Is the music original? It is really excellent!

That's amazing (laugh)

I read the first book ('Dune') and watched Lynch's version in my teens (20+ years ago), and I remember thinking the movie did a good job of cherry picking from the book. However, the resulting movie was essentially a Dune speed run and doesn't capture a lot of the relentless, slow, hot struggles of desert life, which to me was key to the entire atmosphere of Dune.

The new movie looks kind of cool in some ways, but again (maybe its the colour) I don't really get the feeling Arakis is a proper unforgiving desert. Actually looks kind of pleasant!  (laugh)

Yeah the problem is games are so huge now that sometimes the ‘patch’ can be like hundreds of MB large. My son and I bought Overcooked 2, and I swear every week it seemed we’d go to play only to have to wait for some huge file to download and install (which seems to move at a snail’s pace through Steam).

Looks a little too polished, but Cannibal Holocaust?

Maybe I don’t play enough games, but I’ve never minded Steam. I actually appreciate having all games organised in one place and automatically patched when needed. Plus I appreciate the suggestions I get for additional games based on my ‘liked’ history. I don’t take advantage of the community options (ie chat with other fans of certain games), but that’s a cool bonus, too.

Sweet - the link in your PM worked.

Here's the error I was getting. I tried downloading the files a few times, but it didn't help.

Hmm trying to unzip the rar but I am getting an error. Is this happening to anyone else?

You can probably guess the game that inspired this:

Btw I have no idea why the car is melting (laugh)

Sorry for the delay, lakerz. This should work: https://filebin.net/thh83j9bwlbdqd89/thewhiteelephant.zip?t=j682ujgp

It's honestly something I started as a bit of a coding project with my son. We only finished three screens when the deadline hit and just decided to share it anyway (it does have both a literal and metaphorical white elephant though!)

My son and I didn't vote for ourselves, so I am assuming the one vote our game received was from someone with an agenda? (laugh)

It’s so realistic!  :-D Ok my entry coming soon...

I don’t wear nail polish, but yeah that would be frustrating.

Was the seagull carrying something from someone on a deserted island (ie a note)? Perhaps this item was destroyed while cooking?

(the other games are a bit shorter, don't be disappointed!)

Oh man you're in trouble. Nothing more unforgiving than the scrutiny of a five year old (laugh) (kidding)

Just quoting the original riddle so we don’t have to keep flipping back and forth.

My sister-in-law said me a riddle some time ago:

A woman goes on a beach with a portable stove and a riffle. She shoots a seagull and cooks it. Then she tries to eat it, spits it out and bursts into floods of tears. Why?

You may ask questions and I'll give you a Yes or No response.

Is she on a deserted island?
