In looking at the head, it seems like he doesn't really care, or need to care about aiming, sort of cocky. Which is how I'd imagine the sort who'd get a greek looking statue in his honor.

General Discussion / Re: Expressing Atheism
Sat 04/08/2007 12:12:54
People that ask for proof one way or the other kinda make me laugh (not in a rude or condiscending way though, honestly). I mean, you KNOW you're not going to get proof. No one that believes in GOD can offer proof that doesn't start with telling you how God makes them FEEL (not proof), and atheists talk science and logic AROUND the subject, because you can't disprove God. Not to say atheists are wrong automaticly, it's just that God is, if nothing else, an idea, and you can't definitely disprove an idea. I personally believe in God, and I simply can't be convinced that God isn't there. I could be wrong, but good luck proving it to me. And I have a strongly atheist friend who's exactly the same. I just woke up, so I don't if that made any sense. :D

Critics' Lounge / Re: Simpsons TV Room

The perspective kinda makes me feel like I'm looking into a tube tv set. Which is cool because that how I watch the simpsons...but it's weird without having a reason. But without playing the game I won't know how the perspective fits contextually. I think the image well laid out, and the artwork is very good. We'll just wait and see how it looks with the line work.

Yeah, the foward movement looks kinda eerie. And, not so much a critique, but will vomitting happen often in the game? I like all the animations outside of the foward one. his torso needs to do something.

Yeah, I was being a bit of a smart ass, which sucks, because it doesn't translate well to type. When it dosn't come off as litteral, it comes of as mean, and I was trying to be neither.

Thanks by the way. I couldn't think of the term second opinion. That would've made the original post a little more intelligable.

Yes. I'm looking for a second opinion. :)

Edit: I was simply wondering if anyone might be interested in helping me by reading through the story for my game. It's a fairly light read, and I  really would just like an opinion on it beyond my own. Thanks! ;) PM me if you're interested.

Well, I felt weird since I know none of you, but I went and peeked at a few of those videos and I've come to a conclusion...EGGY BREAD TASTES GREAT. I've just eaten my fourth peice!

That might be the funniest thing I've ever seen on this site, radiowaves.

I lieu of spending hours mixing your inventory about, try a more direct approach...do you know and trust any close by neighbors?

General Discussion / Re: I've had an idea.

I was planning on doing a mailer every few months for my recording studio, assuming I keep business rolling like it is now. Included would be a cd to everyone on my mailing list. I was thinking it wouldn't kill me to do the same for AGS games. Like every few months make a compilation of well liked / requested, free games (and I planned to check with all authors anyway). Maybe some interesting demos on it too. I understand the monitary side, and I'm working out the details still. Like a subscription, but free.

To Auriond : The paid service is an excelent idea. I'm already working on all the stuff I'd need to distribute audio cd's anyways.

It would mostly just be approval we'd need I think. Most games are available for download already. And as far as what to put on it, I would be more interested in peoples' suggestions, then worry about making sure I can put the game on. I'd really like to put this together. Maybe a poll WOULD be in order.

General Discussion / I've had an idea.

I was reading the games completed forums when I cam across something...a game I can no longer recall the name of was removed from it's host, and one possible reason sited by someone whose identity I can no longer remember either, was most people blow over a potentially good game with a gargantuan download. What if someone (okay, I'll do it ;) ) was to figure out a cost effective way to do a mailer sort of disc? Not really worried about the difficulties of it right now, because I was honestly planning something soon that would invlove a similar action.

I'm more curious if that would be a good idea in general. No charge or anything. How cool would adventure games compiled and sent to your door be? Maybe even AGS updates and stuff. Wow, I keep having more ideas as I go. Well, how's that start sound?

Join Jerk Perkins in his quest to save his kidnapped girlfriend, in this rock-a-billy high school struggle! OR...

You can join ME in my quest to make sure this happens! This is intended to be, not nessecarily ripped off from, but styled graphicly similar to Sam n Max HTR. I have the story moving along fine, and I'm doing okay with AGS itself, but I'm having a terrible time with backgrounds. So at this particular point I'm looking for...

*BG artist. 320x280.
*Help with sprites would be fantastic, but I THINK I can manage. ;)
*Music and sound. I'm not a bad musician, and I could do the music I want on mp3 just fine, but I personally prefer midis here.

I personally think writing's my strong suit, and I really feel strongly about my story and my characters.

If anyone's interested and would like to see it, I've got a good start on the story outline ready.

Everyone's work here is so great, and it'd be a treat to work with any of you. Thanks for reading.

"Even here?" Haha. I think everyone here has said at one point in their post, "But I'm sure it's a hoax". While I'm 80% sure it's fake, the thought that it's for real is pretty scary. Yes, it's a cool idea, if you take it apart like KrisMUC did, and it's cool if anyone who donated feels better about themselves, but if it's for real, I HIGHLY doubt they'll keep the kid one way or the other. 50k is 50k, and a house and a car are STILL a house and a car. Why add another mouth to feed? Not my point of view, but it's a sacm either way I think : pregnant or not.

Crap.

Cobra never said that. But as to what cobra DID say, I think the biggest difference is, no one's publishing child porn games. This seems to be more a debate over what should a government do WHEN they have to step in, but I think the fact that there's no child porn games (to my knowlage) being published, and there are a ton of ridiculously violent games releasing monthly proves the difference between the two. We are a prodominantly violent species. It's in our nature. We are NOT a prodominantly child raping species. (not saying it dosn't happen, but it's nota common human trait.)

What about the people that want to play these games? Maybe by your OPINION, they're sick. But, using a different arguement, anyone could make any game out to be pointless "shit". But people do want to play these games. There a lot of people who get aggression OUT of them by acting out moral no-nos on a tv screen. Sure, the game lacks story. Lacks even an argueable point, but a lot of relatively normal people want to play it.

Show me the SERIOUS developer that would make girlhunt. I think, if a sick enough person could actually find a team of equally sick people large enough to make girlhunt, they should go for it. If for no other reason than to prove a point. After that game came out, we would hear the same cookie-cutter crap from everyone who always has an objection to art (and I'm aware I'm nearly breaking this word by stretching it here) they don't like. "Oh, a girl was kidnapped and tortured....that NEVER happened before Girlhunt".

Maybe that's extreme, and I pray no one EVER goes to that place when making a game, but it's silly. I WANT to play a game that's been banned. I WANT to know why. There was murder before there were games. If a game makes a crazy, internally murderous person kill, then it WAS going to happen anyway.

This is a real question here...isn't there some history of people killing because they saw a n image or even a mixture of colors that set them off? I can't remember if I made that up. :P

I just bought an HP laptop the end of last year for the same purpose, and I'm completely happy with it. A few suggestions...

For recording, NOTHING less than 2GB ram. The guy at Bestbuy was preaching about Vista, and how I wouldn't need so much memory for recording if I had Vista, and blah. No. Damn Vista, and Damn that guy.

The GeForceGo video cards are better on laptops. The chip dosen't run as hot as the Radeons do. This is a laptop and everything is close to everything under the hood, so cooler = much better.

And as stated earlier, definitely try to get a numeric pad.

Have fun!

I'm kinda looking foward to Star Wars : SOTEGA. The tech demo was kinda cool. I love star wars, but couldn't think of a good way to make an adventure game out of it, so I'm curious to see if it's good.

I just finished Apprentice 1 , and I'm getting ready for 2 now, so 3 should be good too, huh?

My all time favorite was getting the rasp on Sam n Max. It was just funny to me cause it happened like 10 times and I didn't get what I was doing, then I got tired and left after sending Max to the crapper one last time. Just foung it funny I had to give up and the game gave it to me.

Worst ever...The final machine you have to fix in The Dig. If there was a system or pattern, I still don't see it. Five days of trial and error.

Close second...Having to inflate the gloves and balloon to use the elevator at the end of MI2. I keep sucking the air in thinking it'd make ME lighter. Oops.
