We have Quake 3 arena (not team arena) is that it.

And we want to play with you but we have only 56k is that enought?

Yes, not Team Arena.
It would be horribly laggy, but if you want you could give it a shot.

BOYD: My pc is crap with 800Mhz and 128mb RAM. I have 512k/128k broadband connection I think, but I don't have a clue how to run a server. I'm currently trying to find out, asking around while playing Q3 online. I think to run a server with enough power etc. for our group we would probably need a dedicated server with a really fast internet connection.

[lgm]: was that a joke about your dad or is he genuinely interested?

hajo: would you play?

It's great to see some people interested already, and I will update my first post to include any AGSers that are willing to play. Please just make it very clear that you are interested in playing or I might miss you.
BTW Nikolas it is a great game and is very much worth it.
Thanks.

EDIT: Are you out Flukeblake?

There is a game out called Quake 3 Arena and it has been out for a fair while now. If anyone has this game we could set up, using this thread, a schedule of games for us AGSers to play in and have a bit of fun away from the adventure games. Don't get me wrong, I love adventure games, but something different is nice too. So I want your ideas and a list of people with Q3 willing and able to participate.
Just an idea still, but it could be something.
Thanks.

Yeah, I thought I was going to vote for Mordy, but I have a new favorite now...

I really think you should use a picture of a cat or a dog for the body. It will look better, trust me.Ã,  The tusks look wrong. Nothing has tusks like that and it looks strange.

I wouldn't pat something with teeth and tusks like that!  :P

I think it is great as it is. You could make the colours a bit brighter unless it effects the gameplay. For detail or something you could give him a flesh-wound or scars or something according to his personality.

Thanks a lot Ashen. I searched the code but I must have missed it.

I was writing some code for a cutscene in my game when this error occured.

This is my code:
Code: ags
StartCutscene(eSkipESCOnly);
player.FaceCharacter(cMum,eBlock);
character[MUM].Say("Dum dee dee da da. Doo doo doo.");
player.Walk(175, 155,eNoBlock);
player.Say("Finally I've got a free afternoon to go vandalise the school with my friends.");
character[MUM].Say("I love cooking, I love my cooking.");
player.Walk(70, 120, eBlock);
character[MUM].FaceCharacter(player, eBlock);
character[MUM].Say("And just WHAT do you think you're doing?");
player.Say("Uh-oh.");
player.FaceCharacter(cMum, eBlock);
player.Say("Uhh, I'm just going to .. ah.. go out with my friends. Yeah, that one.");
character[MUM].Say("Okay. But be back before sundown.");
character[MUM].Say("And DO NOT get into any mischief.");
character[MUM].Say("Yes, mum.");
character[MUM].FaceLocation(105, 115,eBlock);
player.Walk(25,180,eBlock);
player.Say("Yeah, right!);
player.ChangeRoom(1, 1, 1);
EndCutscene();

What is causing the problem and how do I fix it?
Thanks.

Maybe if you move his shoulders up a little bit, his arms out a little, and make his head slightly less sharp.
I'll try to do a quick paint-over to show.

EDIT:

Yeah, you've probably got it better than I do. :P
Try moving his arms away from his body like I did.

If this only happen two months ago, it doesn't strike me as extra-ordinary worrying. One of my closest friends had to give up soccer permanently (due to some muscle inflamation which had to be operated) when he was about 12, and he was very promising at that time.

The thing about it appening two months ago is that it still hurts as bad as it did when it happened. Also, I am trying to be modest, but I'm actually close to making the state team to play against the rest of the nation. I did make the regional to play against the rest of the state.

In the past I have formatted a lot of times my hard drive, and although it takes a day or two to get it back on track and running, it is always better than before, cause I erase any previous stuff I didn't want, and since the only things you would like to keep are your AGS project and your documents, I say you're fine. Time to restore you hard drive and to make it even better running. Time consuming, but think the bright side.

On the knee accident: Well, that is really unfortunate, but unless you are going for it professionally, I can only say that you will find other stuff to do. And honestly, me being from Greece, sea is perfect! Do some swimming lessons in your country and in the Summer come to Greece. You'll see life with a different eye! Really!

I just think that having to reinstall everything is a bit annoying, and especially with some things that I don't have the program or cd-key anymore. It is true, though that everything will run better this way after a bit of time.
BTW I was looking at possibly going for it professionally, but this kind of blows that out of the water. I really would love to visit Greece sometime, but maybe not strictly for swimming. I am really crap (no, seriously crap!) at swimming, so that is going to be hard.

Ã, Work regular stretching into daily life, and the muscles and joints can become stronger and more flexible. Ã, Some types of vitimin suppliments may help to strengthen the joints as well, perhaps some multi-vitamins that may have calcium and iron enrichment, and some other herbal suppliments, such as Glucosamine and Lingzi, may help in strengthening the joints as well other health benefits.

I went to see a physiotherapist and she gave me some stretches to keep my knee strong. The muscles around it had wasted a bit from me not using it a lot.
I am currently taking Glucosamine in the hope that it works.

That's a shame... but what the doctors tell you? Bullshit. Absolutely.

My oldest brother, Alexander, was born early without his throat connected to his stomach. The doctors messed up the surgery so many times, it would take a small book to tell of it. He lived through it, and they said he could never play an instrument, do any sports, or any kind of running. He's now studying law in St. Johns, and:
-takes me to go swimming a few times a week
-runs laps around the block every summer
-and plays the trumpet for the school pep band.

Don't listen to them. You'll be fine!

I actually took the scan results summary over to the physio and she told me to get a second opinion. In January I'm going to go and see the same doctor who operated on my big brother's knees and ask him what we should do.
Also, your brother sounds like the kind of person who I would respect heaps. I have a friend with cerebal palsy (sp?) and people who say he's a retard get what's coming to them.

Once again, thank-you everyone. I'll just have to live it as I go and see what happens.

Some people may find this interesting in some sadistic, mad, or even humourous way. I have decided to post this thread because I feel that I need to confide in some people about what is happening to me.
About 2 months ago, I hurt my knee playing squash. I thought it was just some sort of extremely painful sprain, as they usually are. After about 1 month, the pain wasn't getting any better, so I went to see the doctor. He sent me to a specialist, who sent me to getan M.R.I. scan on my knee to see what damage had been caused. I got the scan results back and went to see the specialist about it. He said that there was signs of wear and tear on my cartilage in my knee, but other than that it was alright. He said that it was not bad enough to be operated on, and in order to keep it as good as possible, I should stop playing squash, the only sporty I really love. He suggested I take up swimming instead, as it is less stressful on the knee. I was very sad, because not only am I crap at swimming, but I am only a teenager, and retiring from my favourite sport is not something I want to do until I'm old and possibly grey-haired and wrinkled.
I'm feeling slightly depressed about that, but to top it off, I caught a spyware on my PC, and had to format it. I somehow managed to salvage my AGS stuff and My Documents but that is all.

Now I am finished telling my tale, and whatever you do, whether it be weep or laugh, I would like to have any support given.

Thank-you. :'(

I reckon one of Australia's greatest sporting moments was indeed when Jamie Dwyer scored the winning goal for the Kookaburras at the Olymics. Almost brought a tear to my eye, and watching it still gives me shivers up my spine.

That's pretty good. One thing I can see that does look weird is the eyes. It looks like it has those really cute puppy dog eyes! You just wanna go up and pat the poor beast. :D I think the eyes should be more like Mordalles has them, kinda like a cat's.

In my opinion the stairs look like they're too thin to step on, however, I can't confirm unless a character is placed into the pic. for comparisons.

Unless of course the character has pencils for legs :P

There is something that just dosen't seem right with the stairs. I think it is the wall downstairs. I'll attempt to show you what I mean.

EDIT: Here what I mean. I just did it in MSPaint.

^ Here is the part I think looks weird.

^ This is what you could do with it. If the room downstairs is stone. Or something...ish.
What I mean is that you could join this area onto the room below.

The Rumpus Room / Re: How did you find AGS?
Mon 12/12/2005 00:10:55
Sit down kiddies and enjoy the tale:

I was merely getting really bored at school, and I kept hearing a deep-toned voice calling out to me. It seemed to be coming from a place on the computer called "teh internet" or some such thing. I looked around cautiously to see if anyone else heard it too. The boy sitting next to my (coincidentally my best friend) named Nova-Invicta (his parents mustn't have liked him) was focused on his immensely boring school work. So it had begun - my quest to find an adventure game. I had recently played and finished Leisure Suit Larry and the Land of the Lounge Lizard. I decided to find a website which had adventure games on it for me to download. The voice told me to Google for "point and click adventure games". And so I did. I found the seemingly godly figure known as Yahtzee. I downloaded 5 Days a Stranger and 7 Days a Skeptic. They were so good and I was still under the infuence of the voice so I went searching for more. I found a site called Big Blue Cup, and wondered what kind of wacky viruses it could behold. As I went to click to the next page of results, my mouse-hand was taken over by the strange voice and clicked on the link. It brought up the home page and I saw the Games Main Page and realised I was in heaven. I proceded to download many a game on the school computers, and bring them back on my flash drive. Until one day I came home and looked on PC and found a program I had never seen before: AGS Editor. I abruptly opened it and as if I was an adventure game character being controlled by a player I began creating my first game.

And that, my friends, is how mozza bought his alarm clock.

The End
