I think Foop wanted him to be more sad-looking. And I really like your first attempts; for first sprites they're really great. I really like the hair.

Try to find a mixture between the first and the second edit. For someone that sad-looking his pose is too relaxed. He maybe should look to the ground.

Keep it up, and soon we'll have very good sprite!

Well, it isn't a buloght or a Haddas, but it's a ... a ... some kind of soldier, maybe. One of those pretty ugly ... unnatural and fat magician soldiers. Yeah, that's it.

But it's my first 100% freehand sprite. What else did you await?  ;)

*edit: This guy really is humiliating. I'll print him on A3, hang him in the WC, and everytime I'll go to toilet, I say: "I will become a famous pixel artist." And then my alarm clock rings and I have to go to work.

1. x is 4 noobs.
2. Pan Pan!
3. Neither, nor, nor.

1. If you could rename the country you are living in, what would it be called?
2. If you could change YOUR name, what was it.
3. Is this a question?

Hey, these are pretty cool.

How about the band logo on their shirts, tattoos or stuff like that?

I really like how those guys look. You did a great job there.

The reflection of light on the helmet of the first guy almost has the same amount as the reflection of the headscarf of the second. As a piece of cloth the headscarf should have produce less reflection.

The hat of the fourth guy looks really flat. You could try to add more shading to it.

Overall, good work, Mordalles!

Here is a big one.

He actually is SO big, that he exceeds the dimension restrictions.  ;) Well, since I don't have the time to make him look better, he wouldn't have won, anyway. Not that I ever would win the Sprite Jam ... Guess, I'm dreaming again.

Mordalles, I really like your try-serra-tops. The first time I saw him I thought it was a photograph ... I then realized, that there are no photos of prehistoric beings.  ;D

Thanks, Darth, for your edit! Your made some very good improvements, that I like. I'll take them as an example to work with. Unfortunately I've no internet connection the next ten days, so I can't see if you all came up with other cool and useful paintovers. But I will definitly try to improve this bg in my online-absence.

Hi, trylle, and thanks for your edit.

I like what you did with the tree and consider taking this as an example to work with.

But the sky, although a nice effect, is very distracting and looks more as if a thunderstorm is coming. Also the cyan outlines of the horizon don't please my eyes. I also considered doing something with the sky, but it always ended up messy, so I intended to let it be. Guess, I'll play around with it a bit more.

Thanks for your help, anyway.

Hi, seaduck!

Wow, that's truly atmospheric. The only thing that hits my eyes is the breakage of Miss Liberty's arm. It doesn't look broken.

I like the broken moon idea, but why is the whole surface white, while the interiors are of a dark gray. It wouldn't be easy for the sun the cast those shadows.

But I enjoy the colors you chose for the diner.

On the next postapocalyptic diner contest, you'll surely win.  ;D

It sure does, but I also don't like the white highlights of the first version. And, looking at the backgrounds of King's Quest IV, the bright areas of the trees also blend with the ground. So I decided to keep this version.

If one of you would know a way to do it even better, then don't hesitate and give it a try. Maybe you can teach me a better way to solve the blending problem.

And you have my congratulations, too, Bernie. I really enjoyed playing your game.

And not to forget the other entries. Your's were also good.

Hi, YakSpit!

Your ideas were brilliant, and so I come up with a second version:

2x
-Version 2-

I hope the things, I changed, are improvements to the original:

- Altered the tree's dithering, amde it simpler. Better? Worse?
- Made the trunk more natural
- Changed the stone walls
- Remade the door
- Gave the grove some trunks and a bright side of life
- Added a distant hill
- Added a fence
- Adjusted the bench

About the perspective. I changed something, but I guess it's still bullshit. But I prefer to go to bed now. I can beat Perspective tomorrow.

Still, overall very lovely. You definately achieved the KQ4 style. Are you using this in a game? If you do, you'll make a certain Pesty very happy!

Thanks for your advice with the tree outlines ... I'll try that.

I'm not planning on a game, since I'm practicing with backgrounds so far. But I'll certainly do some more of them to advance. And then, maybe, I'll be able to make you happy  ;D

Hi, buloght!

First of all, I liked the room background (except for the shadow-regions in the corner) and the character art.

Two bugs I noticed: When Sir Bredd took the rusty sword, he told me, his squire would take that, but eventually it was in his own inventory.

When I had the chest open and used it, the program shut down, and I received the following message:

"An exception 0xC0000005 occured in ACWIN.EXE at EIP = 0x0045361D ; program pointer is +157, ACI version 2.70.864, gtags (1,0)

in InventoryCarrier (line 72)
from Room 1 script (line 443)"

And the thing with the two inventories ... hm, it didn't bother me, but if the game would have been longer, it maybe would be annoying.

Your works are very promising. I'm waiting for other stuff done by you, especially Kludden. Well, why was I thinking that?

Hi!

Thanks for the fast replies.

It certainly isn't the end of the world. This "dark matter" are, in fact, groves or tree groups. They look out of place when done in dark green, so I made them black. Mountains are a good idea. I try to add some.

I'll try to fix the tree's dithering, too.

Yeah, perspective. If once in my lifetime get the chance to meet this Perspective, I think I'll kick his whatsoever.

Hi, folks!

After some rather disappointing background-drawing I needed a rest from pseudo-realistic drawing, and so I decided to try something in the style of King's Quest IV, because I really like that style. I ripped some KQ4-backgrounds, looked at how certain things were done, and started to make my own picture. Here is the result:

2x
-Version 1-   Scroll down to see the second version!

How do you like it? I have trouble with feeling the atmosphere of my own works. So: Has it atmosphere or air? What would you change or add (or take away)?

I'm rather proud of it, but nothing is perfect, especially nothing of what I'm doing. How can I make the background even better?

Hi, buloght!

I love the black and the green knight, and your Gawain is very good, too, but he seems to be a bit too bright to me.

Congratulations for your first AGS game!

It's very lovely, graphics and dialogues are well done. I really appreciate it.

Merry Christmas, folks!
