Critics' Lounge / A tree

Here is my first attempt on a tree.

I'm rather pleased with the trunk, but I really don't know what to do to let the top look more ... threedimensional. It doesn't seem right the way it is now.

If you have an idea, don't hesitate to do a paintover or tell me your thoughts.

In thanks

Abysmal means something like very, very deep.

I'm living in a town near Karlsruhe in Germany.

Hi, there!

Here "The Beginning", packed with WinRAR.

Not really a background you could walk in, but it would work as a start-up-screen or a screen for a cutscene.

2x

Happy backgrounding!

Don't really know how I came to it. Don't bother either.

General Discussion / Re: London Subway

There was an "amateur" video on the news, made by some terrorists, showing, how to create bombs, where to detonate it in a bus to kill as many as possible and some other stuff.

I don't get it, how someone can be such blindfolded by his hatred, his belief or whatsoever. I just don't get it.

My condolences to all, who are involved ...

Oh, whoops, I forget to choose a winner ... Thanks to those, who reminded me.

Ali: A laser sword duel om the Time Square. Well done!
Zooty & friends: Good edit ... would have been even better if you could see the shoes standing on the ground.
Disco: Looks a bit messy, how you (or whoever the person is) are lying on the entrance shield.
Magintz: It could have been a bit more. And besides that, Marvin doesn't really fit in the scenery.
G. Peepwood: Your head is perfectly aligned to the body. You could habe adjusted the gamme a bit more to make it perfect.
Largo: I really don't get it.

Hm ... hard to choose: I'll announce Ali as the winner.

Good entries, anyway.

Hi!

Here are three songs by Hassu Irc -- not really a band, not really music. All this songs are played without preparation and with no musical skills. I do know some people who still like it, though.

Ein nettes Weihnachtslied (sehr besinnlich)
Die schwarze Fee
Pseudonym

All three are in German. It can be, that the downloading speed is very slow ... it differs from time to time.

Hm, the first one looked much better. The second one's edges are too ... sharp ... or hard ... or something.

Hm, my "song" is rather short (because I don't have the time to expand it in the next two days) and has many loops in it; but that's the only way I can compose music. It's done in Reason and is packed with WinRAR.

The Photoshop Contest; the only place in the world, where you win a prize after "beating" a politician. ;)

I guess, the rules are simple. Take your Photoshop or any other program you like and edit given pictures.

This contest's topic: A PLACE FAR AWAY

Now, what's this about? It's simple: Take a picture of yourself or a friend, a family member, a colleague or just someone from the World Wide Web and put him in a place far away. It would be nice if you could include the originals, too.

For example this. That's a friend of mine walking on a local field:

And - swoosh! - now he is somewhere in New Zealand or something (I didn't find the original mountain again):

By the way: The edit is grey, because it refers to a story, my friend and I are writing at the moment. Just an insider joke.

Happy editing!

The sidewalk shouldn't be unicolor. It looks out of place. Besides of that, your picture has improved very well from the first try.

I prefer the second one.

Very atmospheric picture! It has "feeling".

Self-publishing is a way to get a novel published, but it's very expensive. If you can afford it, go for it. I really enjoyed the first chapter, still waiting for more to come.

Keep it up!

Didn't have Broken Sword that kind of GUI? It didn't bother me, I actually found it perfectly fitting to the game. Sure, when you have verbs, a lot of actions per object are available, but I never saw a game, where more than two commands on any object made sense.

I'll try to compete. But when will the contest end?

And the tutorial isn't a "damn tutorial". It's one of the best I've ever seen; everything is written down step by step, and you can easily follow, even if you haven't done anything with scripting before.
