I quite liked this joke. It shows, how much this game, when finished, will kick ass :) Now go for it!

Well, I do often get those "You don't live twice -- try it out!" spam mails. I do find them rather amusing.

Quote from: Mr Matti on Tue 31/03/2009 01:16:03Yep, and in Unreal (or something similar) the blood was replaced with "oil" (black was used instead of red).

Yeah, and the soldiers in Half Life were cyborgs. I loved, how, when you applied an uncensoring patch and messed something up, they were soldiers again, but lost screws, when you hit them.

It really would be interesting to have some kind of chart with the most sold video games in 2008, just to check what games were bought most.

SpacePirateCaine: Wow, those animations are great. Cool stuff!

Isn't Germany really bad for censoring, banning and cutting out violence in games? Or is that just exagerated?

Depends, and there's much discussion here about the process. Sometimes, the censoring is ridiculous, not only with games, but with movies also. The Happening for example was rated 16+ and was cut on the more violent scenes (i.e. all the scenes containing blood). Watchmen instead was also rated 16+, and as far as I now, it was uncut. It might be me, but I consider Watchmen way more (unnecessarily) brutal than the Happening. So much about that.

As far as games go, most of the shooters don't have blood or rag-doll-characters in it, but are 18+ nonetheless. Dead Space on the other hand was 18+, too, and uncut, by the way. Sometimes I just don't understand it.

At least all the sex and boobies can stay. I guess that's the better alternative.

Oh, and they have increased the size of the rating stickers.

Cool, eh? I guess it would have been better to rate RA3 18+. A red one would be a tad more suitable, don't you think?

It's even cooler on the much smaller Nintendo DS covers:

Look at at this chart:

That's the ratings of all the videos games released in 2007 and 2008 in Germany. The games you mention tend to have a red rating (not for anyone under 18), some might go into blue (16+), if they are heavily cut. Even if you cut those out, there are 75% of games suitable for 12yos and younger. Sounds reasonable to me.
Unfortunately, there aren't any charts of the early years of the USK.

The adult-oriented games might have become more brutal, but I might be wrong.

Quote from: Ghost on Thu 19/03/2009 22:41:21Well, extremely low-res (320x200/240) is getting poor support by recent graphic cards, and on larger monitors it looks a bit shabby, too, but to be honest, modern kids will probably just think there's a typo in the manual ("Duh, 3200x2400, they missed a zero!"). High res doesn't just sell better, modern players expect it. They don't even think you can go lower than 800x600.

Is there even a modern adventure game that supports widescreen? Could image that with drawn backgrounds this could be difficult.

Yes, but I'll be on vacation tomorrow ^^

I found it very good. And as Makeout Patrol has said, the opening credits were fantastic. Brilliant stuff!

These are quite old ... they're from 2006, I guess.

I never finished the town, unfortunately. Too bad.
Ah, these old memories ...

I really like The Colonel's Bequest. As far as I remember, the game could be finished wihtout typing in a single command (other than "open door", maybe). How many puzzles you solved, was up to you. You needed some simpler ones to solve the story, and if that wasn't enough, you could solve some deeper puzzles and investigate on the mansion's background story. I loved the idea.

Other than that, every puzzle is fine, as long as it isn't "Bring me a coffee!" - "Here it is." - "Fine. Now I'll tell ya."

What is this 'book' thing you're constantly talking about. ;P

Now this is a topic I'd like to participate, but I can't, unfortunately :(

Wow, that really looks professional and retro, and the FoA-GUI adds to it. The characters look awesome.

Some minor things:
- I'd center the verb-labels. As for now, some are a bit off (i.e. Schließe and Drücke, maybe Ziehe)

Weiter so!

Quotebtw, I hate the fact that firefox 3 blurs the strechet images...Is there any way to avoid that?
As far as I know, the only way is to use Firefox 2.

It should work on your PC. However, I think there exists a demo of Portal. How about trying that?

That BG is the opening screen from Full Throttle, first showing the clouds with the Lucas Arts logo, than slowly scrolling down with Ben as voiceover. It's one of the greatest opening scenes ever.

Just wanted to say that you have a great sense of atmosphere, Snake. I would love to play this game.
I really like the sky and the stars.

As for the brightness, it's fine on my LCD.

I try to continue writing on some unfinished projects. But I'll be happy if I reach the 20.000.

Good luck you all!

I've only reached 25,000 two years ago, but it nonetheless sufficed for finishing the story. Unfortunately, November is not a good month for me for writing so much.

I really liked the game, too. The graphics were simple and clean, but very effective, the animations were well made and the sounds convincing.

What I'd change is the inventory. It would have been easier to handle and less annoying if there had been an inventory button always on top like in MI3. But apart from that, This Game made me smile.
