What is this penis-thing you're constantly talking about?

But seriously: When I first saw the image I thought: What's so crazy about a Mega Man avatar. So I guess I wouldn't notice it in a small avatar pic, neither.

Cool for you, but ... will AGS 3.0 still be available for free?

I really recommend the album "The Great Cold Distance" by Katatonia, and as a second, their album "Viva Emptiness". They've reduced the growl-shit or their first albums to a very small amount, so you might want to take a hear.

For example:

Another band you might try is the german band Subway to Sally and their albums "Nord Nord Ost" and "Bastard".

P.S. Where is "Edit Topic"? At the top (were I would expect it to be), it just says "Reply | Notify of replies | Send this topic | Print".

Editing the topic of your first post should do it.

Try to add a sky. It will definitely improve your BG.

But what you wrote in your initial post has little to do with a sense of realism, it has more to do with probability, and as such it's not very relevant. You establish realism by explaining things, by setting up moods. You create probable stories by compiling statistics, which is not interesting.

Nice said. I second that completely.

I seem to have some painter's block or something like that. Really, since a few weeks, every background I start ends up like shite. It once has been easier. Perhaps I'm getting old.

But I'll try to come up with something.

And you're right, there has been a time, when there were many good entries. Perhaps it's something supernatural. ^^

The first AGS game I played was Pleurburgh, and I really liked it. But when it comes to "Which game gives you the best nostalgic feelings?", it's No-Action Jackson and none other.

Yeah, it has been the other way around. Before the reform, àŸ was found way more often, e.g. in "FuàŸ" and in "daàŸ". The reform stated, that after a short vowel the "àŸ" should transform to "ss", so that you would know how to speak the word. Hence it's now "FuàŸ" (with a long u) and "dass" (with a short a). This change was one of the many good ones the reform brought

It has been spelt "FuàŸ" before the orthographic reform, and it's "FuàŸ" after the reform. You are only allowed to write it FUSS when using capital letters (since there is no capital àŸ).

In the German language it's very easy to write from hearing, whereas in English, there doesn't seem to be a reason, why "hear" and "bear" look the same, but are pronounced differently.

I'm mainly talking about particular words... if people hadn't invented words in the past we wouldn't be able to talk to each other today.  So why can't I invent a particular word, just because it has never been accepted by any dictionary makers.  Many people in history have 'coined' certain words.  So why weren't they told off by their peers?  Why were their new words allowed?  Why didn't Bill Gates come up to them with a squiggly red pen every time they wrote something unconventional?

Day by day thousands of new words are created. If people like them, they will most likely use them themselves. And in the end, if a majority of those who speak the language know and use it, it will even be accepted in dictionaries.
All those language organizations or those who decide upon orthography, they might encourage people to use this or not to use that words or grammatical phenomena. But eventually they will conform. If cases die out, they die out. If prepositions change their governed cases, they will. It has always been that way.

Gives me like 5 hours more spare time.

I like the Monkey Island II soundtrack, and I usually listen to it when I'm working on backgrounds.

I'll go for Perfect Sex Enforcer.

Haddas, Thomas, that's awesome!

I'll try to bring something up. It will be in German, but hey!, it's about voices, not languages.

Presumably yes.

Would there be a way to do it with properties?, e.g. let's say you have boolean properties for every action possible in the whole game, and then set the properties of each action, you want a character or object to have, to true. The GUI then could change depending on all the active properties.

Or maybe that's just plain bullshit and it could be done a lot easier. Don't know, really ^^

Hm. That really wasn't my topic.

I wouldn't have something against a normal round of BB next time, though.

I usually suffer from blocks and lacking motivation here at my parent's. I don't have internet in my own flat, and -- guess what -- I'm way more productive and motivated there.

My advice: Turn off your internet connection for a few days. Take walks. Make meals. Get fat. That really helps me.

I'm also the "I'm more productive, if I don't know how my story will go on" type of person. But while that might work in literature (and even there it can ruin the consistency of the story), it's hard in game-making. I do encounter the same problems there.

The house added much to your background, and I quite like it, though the perspective (the street especially) is weird.

Things I'd add to the house:
- an eaves gutter
- some kind of handrail for the stairs; it looks quite unsecure now
- The window doesn't look as if it could be opened; try to add a middle bar or something
- a flower box
- maybe a cellar window
- a letterbox
- a doorbell
- a bush

cheers
