It's weird to write something based on word count.
If you have a good story, number of words used should have nothing to do with it.

Isn't writing creative process? This one here sounds like Soviet 5-year plan, where specified amount of potatoes had to be planted or machine parts produced.

Strange.

You see what it's good for. People write. If they reach the 50,000 or if they don't ... who cares? I always found it to be an accelerator for my creativity, if I have some kind of goal to reach.

Writing some poems ...
Is that all you care about?
Go make a game -- now!

Okay, time's over, and here are the results ...

Hammerite: I catched the atmosphere, but your track was a bit too background for my taste.

Tuomas: Your track caught the mood quite well, I really could imagine the whole seen. In the last part it sounded a bit like in the daytime, though, but it fits nevertheless.

Haddas: I like, how your track evolves from a not completely peaceful mountain top to a dangerous volcanic trip.

I range between Tuomas and Haddas, but decide, that Haddas will be the winner of this competition. Thanks for participating. You did your job quite well.

I made 20,000 words last year, but I don't have the time to participate this year.

Wow, that was a well written little game with some really good graphics. I enjoyed it.

Hi, everybody!

This competition's topic is

THE ISLAND

Imagine a small island in the middle of a huge ocean. There's not much to see there, but it has four extraordinary places to visit:

a) The Volcano
On top of the volcano, that reaches into the sky in the middle of the island, you can watch the fires blaze inside. It looks calm, but it might erupt sometime.

b) The Silver Beach
In the north there lies a beach with sand of silver. When it's night, magical creatures come out of the water and make it glow.

c) The Jungle
In the south lies a dense jungle full of odd looking creatures and plants. The air is damp, the trees high, and insects are flying all around.

d) The Village
Near the Silver Beach you can find a small village of primitive people. They pray to a nature god, whom they see in a gigantic tree near the village.

Make a tune that fits to one of these four locations. You can be creative within the given theme, i.e. if you compose a tune for the beach at nighttime, when all the magical creatures appear, that's as well okay as composing one for the beach at daytime, when nothing happens. You could also combine some of the motifs given.

Best would be, if one could tell the location you chose by merely listening to the tune.

This competition ends on the 23rd of October, giving you 11 days.
Have fun!

cheers

Wow, cool!

Great songs, everybody. Enjoyed hearing them.

To start the wave ... here is a quick one.

Nostalgia

One day Thomas found this old chest up there in the dusty attic. There were many photographs of times long ago in it, times of joy and sadness. Then ... as if he had lived back then, he had this familiar feeling, that can make man cry. Nostalgia.

I have to have my monitor at the right angle or it drives me mad, also I always, always, always run my internet browser in a window. I cannot stand to see it in full screen. I don't know why. I like seeing part of my desktop in the background. Might sound weird, but if a site makes my browser go full screen, i close out of it right away.

The opposite for me: I can't stand having anything in a window. Fullscreen is the only choice for me.

That's why I always assume beforehand, that I'll lose. Makes losing not so bad and winning much sweeter.
#752
Now that you mention it ... yeah ^^
I definitely should leave my room more often.
#753
Now, that I look at it a second time ... hm, I could be wrong here ... but where I live, doorhandles are on the left side.
#754
Wow, looks much better now.

2x

- added more shadows
- changed the tone a bit
- added reflections on floor

Hope that might help you.

This looks great, although I don't have the money to buy it.

Are you getting paid by Marlboro or what? On every second screen I see Lauren smoking ^^

Reading Mills critics, I have also one: I found it very annoying to talk to the fisherman over and over again, when I wanted to go sailing. After the first time, there should be a faster option, like using the ship or something.
#758
Wow, this project sounds really promising. I wish you good luck with it.

If net is broken for a few days, I am kinda "confused", because I am active on so many forums - similar to these, that I "lose track with them".

Yeah, I hate that one, too. Stuff like, when I'm off the net for two weeks or so and then it goes "There are 6.332 new posts." Darn.
