I'm using XAMPP. It's easy to set up and works fine for me.

Hints & Tips / Re: The Last Harvest

@paolo:

Spoiler
Hm, those three items should do the trick. But since TLH has many bugs, it will possibly only work, when you have talked with the beggar about the revolver. Then give the pillow, the apple and the stew to the beggar.

This year I made my first two games, which -- despite their bugs and crappiness -- both won in the MAGS competition. I wanted to start an RPG project, but failed in graphics, which I am currently improving. There are some other ideas floating in my mind. Let's see what 2007 will bring.

The game that really impressed me this year: 'Duty and Beyond' by Mordalles.

Currently playing ... and it's WOW! ^^ The interface is perfect, the ideas really good. Keep it on!

The screens look amazing. Good luck with finishing your game.

Look brilliant and sure is a brilliant idea, too. But unfortunately my computer here sucks, so I can't play it ^^ I'll test it, when I'm back to my home computer.

A big problem here in Germany is censorship. All those "killer-games" don't really involve "killing" or the causes of violence. If you shoot people, they don't bleed, they don't die. In the german version of HL, the (human) guards and scientists took a seat when shot, and they began to cry, in other games they just vanish, when they are shot. No wonder, reality can easily be misunderstood.

Do you see those faint blur pixels on the outside of the second and fourth guy's trousers? They will stay, when you import them into the sprite editor. Try to hunt them all down; they only will make your character look worse. BTW ... animating is alot easier when using a shading like Pablo did it in his paintover. You should really consider starting with such models and then -- if you want -- adding more colours by hand (and not with the blur tool). The blur tool can ruin your sprites.

I marked some overblurred spots with a red circle. That are places, where the colours of different parts melt into each other. Like the trousers of the fourth guy. The legs seem to be one block rather than two different. That's because your outlines are blurred, too. I painted some quick black outlines in to show you the difference. Working with outlines and then blurring the shades _inside_ could help the eye with recognizing the shapes.

I mean the coloured dots on the walls in both screens. Looks like a coloured noise effect to me.

And with blurred: Look at the character with the red scarf. His right hand seems to melt into the scarf. Try to have more distinct lines that form the body.

You shouldn't use coloured noise in there. It's confusing. Some parts of the backgrounds as well as the characters are very blurred. I think the "un-pixelated" style could work, but keep in mind, that this doesn't mean to have blurred sprites.

Have been very busy, so I have to post it unfinished. Tried an RPG style this time.

When the guests for the halloween party arrived, everything was set up already. The table was laid, the glasses were filled with bloodred wine. All the visitors thought of a realxing party, but when the discoverd the evil looking eyes in the bleeding picture, the realized, why they had been invited.

two one double o
two one o one
...
two one o ten
etc.

BTW: What I always wanted to know. How do you pronounce Pleurghburg?

If you have windows, open the control panel. Open the keyboard settings. There you can change the keyboard layout to that of other states: choose german (IBM). I don't know the termini of the english version of windows, I hope that was comprehensible enough.

Look excellent, and since I enjoyed the other games of this series, it only can get better.

Passed the first gap, grab the pickaxe and trade it with the watering can. Use the pickaxe to break down the wall. Grab the hook upstairs. With that you can grab the lantern.

The texture seems okay to me ... but we could probably be more precise on how to improve the bg, if it was complete.
