Great to see the big turnout! Cool pix, everyone.

The intergalactic bankers who used this extremely remote outpost have been gone for 200 million years. Recent explorers nicknamed it "Planet Cash".

...and Tabata calls the winner: Kastchy!

Congratulations Kastchy! Here are golden stairs leading to your award:

Looking forward to whatever you choose for us next.

Thanks, Tabata and PacoTaco!

Ok! It's voting time!

The traditional categories:

Idea: Is it an original/creative interpretation?
Atmosphere: Was an interesting world created?
Design:  How well are the individual elements designed?
Composition:  How well do elements combine to create a pleasing whole, and lead the viewer to points of interest?
Functionality:  How well would it work as a background? Clearly defined entries and walkable areas? A good viewing angle?
Technique: How well is it rendered, within the chosen style? (in no way meaning the more elaborate, the better!)

Anyone can vote! Polls close midnight Nov 3th!

Excellent point, PacoTaco! You found a compelling solution. It's intriguing yet somehow ominous...I'm compelled to click that hatch and see what happens next.
Thanks for the entry!

Just a few more days, everyone! Works-in-progress are ok, too!

Great, Kastchey! Bright and lush and full of adventure!
We move the statue, and the passage is revealed...now how do we raise that gate?...I'm already playing your game in my mind...
Thanks for the entry!

Topic: Secret passage!

Bootleggers, princesses, resistance fighters, billionaire vigilantes, everyone needs a secret passage!
When you find one, you know you're on an adventure.

We had a Secret Hideout blitz last year - this time it's just the pasageway, probably disguised.

Voting: Nov 1.

Restriction: AGS compatible.

Thanks, Secret Fawful. Liked your entry a lot. Wish I could paint that well.
I appreciate the compliment, Ilyich.
And thanks for the win, zyndikate!
I'll start the next competition very soon. Hope everyone will consider entering.

Thanks, Sughly!
Looking forward to some competition - you artists don't want a 3D picture to win, do ya? ;)

Hi, all. Here's mine. Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata.

Where's the gameplay, you ask? Um..."destroy Beethoven with Rock N' Roll!"?

Idea - Snath3000
Atmosphere - 2d_Matty. I like how they got a rifle against the wall...just in case...
Design - Alan v. Drake.  Imagining books floating to the player if they enter the right code.
Composition - 2d_Matty
Functionality - WHAM
Technique - Snath3000. Wish more games were like this.

@ Alan v. Drake: I know, and a few more lights, too!
@Sughly: only when the set is basically a bunch of cubes. :)
#52
@ David: I made mine in Maya. Got the rust textures free from morguefile.com. Once I modeled one file cabinet, I just duplicated it around the set. The cables are simple, too, just extruded curves. Don't tell anyone.  :)

At the War Department archives.
Professor: "The files are gone! This is the Baron's handiwork!"
Winthrop: "Ooh ooh eek eeek eek!"

Professor: "Yes! Quickly, back to the time machine, Winthrop!"

I just realized I did another basement like WHAM and NickyNyce. :)

Amazing-terrific entries. Thanks to everyone, it was great to see the big turnout.
It's voting time!

Idea: Is it an original/creative interpretation of the theme?
Atmosphere:  Is an interesting world created? - Does the scene evoke a feeling?
Design:  How well are the individual elements designed, from clouds to doorknobs?
Composition:  How well do the elements combine to create a pleasing whole, and lead the viewer to the points of interest?
Functionality:  How well would it work as a background? Does it have clearly defined entries and walkable areas, as well as a good viewing angle? This also includes introductory shots of an area as long as a player character can be present in the scene.
Technique: How well is it rendered, within the chosen style? (in no way meaning the more elaborate, the better!)

Voting ends midnight June 2nd so vote today!

Thanks, Vukul! You've got us hooked. Maybe in some other Blitz we'll see if Jane survives...

Almost at the deadline, everyone. Just post a note if you need more time.

vertigoaddict - We're completely agreed. Nothing against reference in the rules. I'm a big fan of reference. In fact, here's the flickr pic that became this competition's illustration at the top: http://www.flickr.com/photos/christianmontone/4483056012/

Neil Dnuma - Awesome entry. A pleasant hotel, and yet those creepy dead trees that look like grasping hands...this vacation won't end well.

Jackpot today, thanks everyone! ;D

ArjOn - cool link, though it's not helping me with my new pathological fear of hands.

Vukul - nice attention to detail. Intrigued by the little ghost-thing in box 19. Looking forward to a mockup, if you have time!

WHAM - worth the wait! Glad it inspired a game. Thanks for pointing to the reference. It's totally acceptable to me - maybe some won't vote for it in the Composition category, but that's up to them. The way you used it is original.

gameboy - beautiful. Great colors & composition. I am drawn irresistibly toward the hotel even though it fills me with dread. Quietly terrifying.
