Completed Game Announcements / Re: Unavowed

Wow, amazing, amazing, amazing! Well done on releasing this! I'm putting this on my to-play list.

The Italian translation is complete, and I'm advertising in Recruitment for volunteers to proof-read the English text and the translation.

Here's a sneak peek of another scene:

Outside house

Still a few more animations to do, bugs to fix and things to clean up. Getting there!

My game This City at Night is nearing completion, and I'm looking for two or more enthusiastic proof-readers:

1. The game text is almost 50,000 words long, so reading it will take some time. Perhaps this job could be split between two or more people.
2. I have also prepared an Italian translation (for my Italian friends here whose games I have translated into English). I am looking for a native Italian speaker with a good knowledge of English who can check my translation for any grammar mistakes or phrases that don't sound right. (I have prepared the translation manually and not just run the English text through an online translation service.) I have also advertised for someone on the Italian site www.adventuresplanet.it.

Any willing volunteers will of course get a credit at the end of the game!

Many thanks,

Paolo

A long-overdue update...

Not too long to go now. I still have several animations to do (which are what takes me longest), some bugs to fix and a few other bits and pieces. Soon I will be recruiting a proofreader and in a few months, I hope, some play-testers. Watch this space!

Great, it's good to see this out in an English version!

Recommended - definitely put it on your to-play list.

Big congratulations to everyone who won an award last night! Good to see a nice spread of winners this year rather than one game scooping the lot.

It was way too late for me to stay up to the end so I'll watch it on YouTube - thanks to Gurok for uploading it.

So that's 8pm UTC.

This looks nothing short of stunning. I don't know how Ben manages to outdo himself with every new game. His work is so beautiful it makes me want to cry :-D

I should have posted this a while back, but anyway:

There are a couple of lines that slipped through the translation. For anyone puzzled by the French lines, here are the English translations:

Talking to W. Whedon in the desert:

French: Crois-moi... je sais de quoi je parle. Je suis à  moitié Elfe et moitié Elfe du Feu, et ils se détestent mutuelllement.
English: Believe me... I know what I'm talking about. I am half Elf, half Fire Elf, and they hate each other.

In the café in the human city:

French: Un rat!! Aaah c'est dégoûtant!! Il y a des rats dans ce pub!!
English: A rat!! Argh, it's revolting!! There are rats in this bar!!

Hi fnordperfect, did you get through in the end?

Spoiler
Assuming you need some water for the girl in the desert? Don't know where to find any...

Can someone give me a hint?

This is the one you need to tackle.

Hints:

Spoiler
There are no sources of water around, but someone can give you some.

Spoiler
Someone you have already spoken to has told you she can provide water in a special way.

Spoiler
Talk to someone in the desert.

Also...

Spoiler
What do you have that could be used to hold water?
[close]

Spoiler
If the answer to the last hint is "nothing", where you could get something that could be used to hold water?

Spoiler
Somewhere in the human city.

I hope these help.

Michael2968, CaptainD,

A hint:

And a requirement:

Spoiler
Do you have something you can use on Moriarty so you can examine the box?

If not, then have a look in

OK, I'm stuck in the same place as Michael2968 (first message in this thread).

Spoiler
I have dressed the mannequin and hung the cross from the hook.

I have played past this point before,
Spoiler
before I learned how to save the game
[close]
but it is not working for me this time. If I remember rightly, I have to
Spoiler
put the ring in the bowl and then put the blood on the cross, but nothing happens when I try to put the ring in the bowl.
[close]

Is there something I have not yet done? As far as I can see, I've been everywhere. I've also tried
Spoiler
turning the yin-yang symbol to see if it needs to be on the "dark" side
[close]
but that didn't make a difference. Thanks.

Is there a way to save this game? There is a load option but I don't see save anywhere, and pressing F5 doesn't do anything.
#55
It was a blocking animation, which is probably equivalent. Thanks for the info.
#56
I'm not sure whether this is an actual bug or a feature...

If you set Visible to false for an object, and then animate it, the game hangs. Obviously you wouldn't want to do that, but my game was hanging and I found out I had forgotten to make my object visible before animating it.

At the very least, I think this should generate a warning at compile time or runtime, or maybe it does already and I didn't notice it?

PS: I saw this in v3.3.4, build 3.3.4.2.

Thank you, cat and Snarky, and everyone else involved, for a brilliant and fun night! Big congratulations to all the winners. It was nice to see the awards were spread out over several games rather than one scooping the lot. All the awards were very well deserved.

Now let's all get busy making and finishing next year's crop!

Voteeeed!

I can't wait to find out who's won!  :cheesy:

It's nice to see a good range of games there. It's going to be fun playing them and deciding which to vote for.

And a nice surprise to see This City at Night among the nominees for Best Demo. Thank you so much to everyone who nominated it!
