Write a short book, a novel or something. It's not necessary to publish it, but it will work wonders with the swirl in your head.

edit
This book is for the discarded ideas that you just cherish too much to abandon and they'd ruin your game if you didn't.

Sorry for bumping the thread, but I'm almost done with FLE I.

Production update:
10 Dec 05

Part I is almost ready, since I don't have voices or music, consider it as 85%.Ã,
Part II will be a couple of rooms, either separate or compiled in this part, but I don't know yet... :-\Ã,  I may add it later in the school year, or not add it at all...
Part I is quite playable without part II, anyway...

Check here
how it's going to function.
Proofreaders are especially welcome!

Yes, I messed it! :-[

Interaction editors are nice things to have around, lol

But thanks for the suggestions.

Of course the games are freeware and free to download, but still if you have 700Mb or 4.4Gb it is worth paying 10$/GBP

There will be some copyright problems with the games if it goes officially. For example, if someone plays something, AGS or not , that seems to have "very influenced" graphics, music etc, they won't start suing people. But if they pay forÃ,  a CD, maybe someone will notice...

On the other hand, I think a CD, even paid, is a good idea especially for those on dial-up, provided that the games remain free for those who can't afford or find or simply don't wish to buy the CD and that the game authors are not bypassed.
My average downloads used to be 7 MB and I never downloaded anything bigger than 12-15 MB whan I was on dial up, and this excludes too many good AGS games. I think 10$ for 10 games is a lot cheaper than the average dial up connection.

You'll just need to script each hotspot on it's own. Unless you want to make a custom function that would handle it via mouse click detection. That would anyhow be about as much work as going through them one by one, I think...

I thought so...

I need the following actions realised after I "look at" a hotspot:
Let's say I look at Hotspot 1. I want message 0 displayed, hotspot 2 enabled and 1 point added on first execution. So far so good, I use the interaction editor and everything is fine, only I want this sequence to happen for all the remaining hotspots...
Example: Look at hotspot 1, display message 0, enable hotspot 2, add 1 point on first execution, look at hotspot 2, display message 1, add 1 point on first execution, enable hotspot 3 and so on...

Is there a quicker way than using the interaction editor?

Thanks.

I think that there is enough room for the character to walk among (or above??) the graves or behind the rails. It didn't even occur to me as a problem before I 've read about it. I think it depends on the "scenario".
I agree the myst is too bright, looks like sunlit dust.

Congratulations! The baby looks lovely, a really cute trouble-to-be... ;)

and I hope she'll catch up with the AGS manual soon :P

Now serious, there are so many parents in here...
I use threads like this to show people around me that gamers do have a life away from their keyboard.

General Discussion / Re: Good morning

There is a persistent gap between midnight and 11:30 in the morning during working days.

[foggy memories]

The alarm clock is set to 6:37, so it must have been 6:37 when I got up. I can't confirm it since I was half asleep. I don't have black smear on my face and foam in my eyes, so I must have used the mascara and the toothbrush appropriately. I must have taken the correct bus and went to the correct office, with the correct clothes on, because buildings, people and files seemed familiar and nobody said anything about my outfit or the time I hit my magnetic card.. First appointment is always at 8:15, so it is likely the first person arrived at 8:15. I found myself holding a hot cup of coffee at 11:30, a cup that was recently used, so it must have been my second coffee. Since I'm not fired, it seems that first coffee helped with automatic reactions such as answering phonecalls, filing envelopes and smiling to people.

[/foggy memories]

11:31 The day went downhill from there... :(

Hi

I need a french native speaker to pronounce some 120-150 words for a (not strictly) game.

PM if you are interested, only 50-60 words are ready  for the moment.
Thanks

Although someone' s art and personal taste might be Ã, deformed by education, they still express that person's inner self and psychological status. So their art may appeal to the people who share teh same ideas or had the same cultural influences.
But marketing and prejudices are very important.
I'm not sure creativity is a conscious process. I think it's just a way to channel your energy into something expressive, or you'll burst out.

I don't remember where I saw this phrase, if it's someone's signature in here, sorry, I nicked it Ã, ;)
"Everybody has talent, the rare thing is the courage to follow the talent to the dark place where it leads" Ã,  I think that's what makes the difference Ã, and gives Ã, art that survives in time.

Unrealistic:
To have six weeks off work and travel with no more but room reservations for a day, thenÃ,  go to the next destination that seems worthwhile. Just me, my newspaper and my book, to try and sort things out.

But : no money, no leave, which is 4 weeks anyway and things never get sorted, really.

Realistic:
To go away for a weekend. To go to the port/bus station and just get to the ship/bus that's closer.

more important things later, like raising kids?

Like in "while raising kids, the one decides that wants some time alone" kind of situation?

Maybe the decision is not up to you any more , you know. When you tell a girl that you want some time on your own, she starts planning a life with plenty of icecream and none of your sight. Buying her a ring AFTER that? Sounds like escaping via engagement. Don't be surprised if it's her that will make an announcement. It's all about trust, isn't it?

Anyway, I think this kind of decisions is deeply personal and not even the people who know both of you can give advice, let alone online strangers.

It doesn't mean that a single art contributer will recieve undevided attention to a much greater extent and quality than you can get here.

I, for one, wouldn't dare to post in a forum where the members are mainly professionals. I've seen many good pictures in here, from people who might be professionals but who don't go around with that label. So, I find it is easier to post my work in here and get some comments or suggestions without the feeling of taking exams at school.

I would add some candles. Churches always have candles. They provide very atmospheric light, which is something you could use. Unless it's your objective to create a more dark and cold place, of course.

--Erwin

Candles can still give the  dark and cold feeling if they are not lit. I'd also suggest some low hanging chandeliers, their long suporting cord could fill up the upper picture a little.

It would be quite complex to manage that, though. There is a built-in Replay feature but it's undocumented because it doesn't quite work properly yet. Also, in order to play back a replay you have to exit the game and load it up again, so that wouldn't be any good for your purposes anyway.

I know, I always steer clear of variables anyway!  ;D  I just hoped it would be simpler. If you have ever played "The Sting" you know what it should look like .

Beginners' Technical Questions / replay steps
Sun 13/11/2005 11:11:06
Hi

Is there any way to follow the character's steps and replay the game in a film-like manner up to the point the player succeeded or failed?
