[ joke ] If it was animated, I guess it would glow or something, but I didn't touch it. I wouldn't experiment with strange thingies in dark shops now, would I ?Ã,  Ã, :PÃ,  [ / joke ]

It doesn't exist!"Ã,  We can't expect that from kids, and we shouldn't shield them from it preemptively because they will grow up to be psychologically and emotionally underequipped in dealing with it inevitably as adults.

I agree, children will grow up eventually and they will have to face it without a parent or teacher standing by. The more innocent and ignorant the child the more they will get hurt.
The important thing is to tell the child that what may seem normal in a game/film/book/comic strip is not necessarily a good approach of real life. Although I hapilly shoot NPC in games and I love crime/war films and violent action books with the usual amount of sex scenes in them ,  I hate it when people hurt a child, kick a kitten, abandon a pedestrian they hit with their car , push an old lady at the supermarket to reach the cashiers first or mistreat and disrespect women only because they can .

What computer games taught me, is that in real life we don't have a "quicksave" option...

It is obvious that she was going to kill someone close to Harry and very much needed by him, but unless she had her book drafts ready from the beginning and inspiration never struck her since, I don't think she knew, either.
Sometimes I believe she keeps an eye on the various HP fan sites...

As long as Ron and Snape stay alive, she may do whatever she pleases as far as I'm concerned...

I'm leaving for Japan on Sunday morning

I keep going over in my head what I need to do/buy/pack and I've made lists and I think I'm pretty well prepared but I can't help the awful feeling that I'm forgetting this or that,

Have a nice trip, take care of youself and enjoy your staying there. Don't worry about shopping and packing, because it is certain that you will forget the 10-15 most important things... After all, Japan is not a desert island or a raided planet!! I'm sure they 'll have a supermarket somewhere, don't you think?

Living on your own is not that terrible. By the time you will get sick of watching favourite T V series for hours , sleeping whenever you feel like it, making your nails at 2am, having your hair in a mess without anyone noticing, making games when you're too tired to go out, wearing (or not) whatever you like, decorating your new house the way you like it, sleeping with the radio on to feel a human presence, leaving a light on to help you with your fears, watching DVD 2 hours before going to work, ironing one shirt at a time and having less washing up to do, you'll have already made new friends, developped a daily routine, found a way of keeping the house tidy and clean clothes handy without much effort and bough the silly shower curtain you always liked and were always ridiculed for!! :)

If your relationship is strong, distance won't destroy it if you don't let it . Mobiles, internet, videophones, telephones...the traditional perfumed letter, sealed with a kissÃ,  ;)Ã,  ...Ã,

Queen Kara.....I'm finding the same things as well, have checked the walkthrough.Ã,  First part says to take coat - where is coat? Then it says to make coffee but can't interract with anything?Ã,  Any hints please

Spoiler
When you talk to the woman, you ask for her coat, so it is in your inventory. You have to hang it at the coat hanger next to the kitchen door. No hotspots in the kitchen should interact before you do that. Then look at the mugs to enable the rest of the kitchen stuff.

To be honest, I didn't like the HP films. They left all the important things out and focussed on magic tricks and love affairs.

The HP films had love affairs? I must've missed Harry and Hermoine going at it in the second one.

It was no Harry AND Hermione as in "together"...

You can see the 'numbers' behind the game more, the walkable areas, the simple design. it's not a game world and you're not 'beat it' you're just trying to figure out what the designer had in mind...

I've noticed that, too, since I started using AGS. Whenever I play a game, all I see is walkable areas, hotspots and animations and I'm not a even a professional. I was playing Discworld Noir (II?) with my sister and she was mad at me explaining her the technical details instead of trying to solve the *ahem* puzzles! The good thing is that if the game is good, I can still dive deep in the  story and enjoy it.

But on the subject of the films, the 3rd one was waaaay better than the first two. Even if he did overuse the bird flying into whomping willow joke.

I haven't seen the last film yet.To be honest, I didn't like the HP films. They left all the important things out and focussed on magic tricks and love affairs. But again, I rarely like films based on books...

As for the aspirations of the authors...I guess you need both guts and a big ego to publish your inner thoughts, so, yes, I think they believe "theirs" will be a classic...in its kind at least. I don't think they'd publish otherwise. Thanfully, there is also the Reader, who can distinguish <censored> from classic/palatable and keep a balance in the books universe...

In 50 years time, I don't think that the Harry Potter series will be as popular as LOTR.

I don't think they are real litterature neither extremely good written. I feel I could had skipped some pages in book 5...
Rowling keeps putting spicy details and wannabe twists for people who like reading too much between the lines , but this doesn't mean a deeper meaning exists.
But I don't think HP was ever meant to be a classic , as in Hugo, Shakespear, Tolstoi or others of that kind. It is a teenagers' book with well researched, believable second characters. (My favourite is Ron, because he's soÃ,  clumsy). This may be why adults like this book.
I haven't read the new one yet, but I enjoyed the previous ones, as we enjoy a shallow but well made cinema film , with nice settings, nice music and a drop-dead gorgeous heroÃ,  :P I had fun and that was it.
HP books would last longer in time if there wasn't that silly marketing craze, which makes the most of products and then discards them for the next one...Rowling may become rich, but her books won't last in popularity. Which may be a good thing, because then, some people may read them just for pleasure and this is a nice thought...
Reading books for pleasure, I mean. Children will buy a book to read not a book to boast to theirÃ,  friends that they bought it at the exact time it was released...along with mugs, notebooks, T-shirts and the rest of the marketing suppost products...

I usually find that if I'm stuck on a puzzle for more than a couple of hours, I will resort to a walkthrough - rather than leave the game and come back to it a day or so later.

Same here. I'll use a walkthrough if I 'm stuck for too long on a puzzle. I don't want to miss the end of a story or the view of great graphics only because I got bored of trying after a few days... But I take great careÃ,  not to read more than I need, I don't want to guess possible solutions. And I must be really stuck when I use it. I never use phone or fax, not my style...

I hope Egyptians are considered post worthy.

People dying as seemingly random targets when they are not directly involved to anything is appaling and unfair, whoever they are...and it is very probable that we will hear more of this kind of news.

On various forums - as well as here - I have read through people discussing the ending of the book and combing over evidence to suggest there's something more twisty to it. Has anyone considered that Rowling is just a bad writer? :P

Why do you think we spent so much time in the various HP forums suggesting plot twists?? Doh!

Getting old doesn't have to change anything.
Provided that you are reasonably healthy, mobile and unaffected by dementia and such.
If the above stands, getting old in heart is a matter of choice.

Something to do with poison??
(Not a native speaker, but "poisonous " is my idea for this sort of things...)

It's not ageing that makes me feel uncomfortable, it's the mind disabling illnesses (eg Alzheimer's) that go with. I fear ilness, not age and ilness may very well occur while I'm still young.Ã,  Aged peopel who are relatively healthy are quite happy. The ones who take their life as it comes, try and find ways to beat fear or loneliness. Sometimes they are more active than me!!
And I hope I'll never ever accomplish ALL my dreams, because that will be the day I'll have nothing to live for ... They say that having all your goals fulfilled is a punishment.
I have achieved nothing important and I'm 29. I have realised many dreams instead. MY dreams, not other people's. And I have more...all of them unrelated to each other, just for the sake of it. I have many half-finished plans, but I'm not worried about it...I'm actually happy about it. What I don't like is the possibility to not be able to think of something new to learn.
Concerns about our age are normal, they show we have an inner self that is not as superficial as we'd like to think...

I can't see it.

Page has exceeded its data transfer limit.. We must be able to see the picture within the hour .

"Abysmal" has to do with "abyss". Deep is one side of it, disastrous and scary ;) is another. "Deep" as in "very very low".
