But someone who "hasn't got a proper grasp of the English language who comes in here and demands everyone pay attention without following the rules set here" bugs the hell out of me.

The solar light has reached the outer space twice since I was 16, and I wasn't going to reply to this thread, until I noticed this remark...
I only speak for myself here, but I think people do try to follow the forum rules and use english, even if their posts are not "correct" enough.
I also think that some posts that are thought to be written in overfamiliar, or txt style , or "community" english, may be written from someone who doesn't speak english as a first language (sometimes the "mistake" is the exact translation from another language!)
I hope people here don't really believe that being good at making games depends on the level of written english!

<Note to self>
Ok, cp, enough ranting , get back to work now....
:P

I agree with "without following the rules set here"  , of course

It works, thanks.

Apart from the credits plugin which has a typewriting option, how can I dislay typewriter effect??  (writing text on PC for example).

i plan to use this as a supplement to my resume for when i apply to companies.

I think the site is nice, informative, functional and easy to use,
but
since you want to use it for job applications etc, I think it should look more...serious (can't think of a better word). What I mean is that
a) the person who will decide on your CV in the companies maybe some sour, internet-illiterate, average personnel manager with minimal or less sense of humour and your language will make them think twice. It's like going to the interview wearing your party clothes or something.
b) the green dots look fine to me, but someone may think it's the Word spell checker ...

Other than that, I liked it.

I'm at work and I'm reallllly bored. There are no customers in the store.

This is not as bad as being reallllly bored or really busy and having to take care of lots of customers ... :(

Playing this with a friend is good fun, by the way. Like in the old days... :)

Very good idea to revive a simple but addictive little game!
It reminded me of some very early holidays ...

It is similar to PC Paintbrush which i used many moons ago and that is probably why i am so comfortable with it.

Shawn

Neopaint can also convert pictures to 256 colours without significant losses.
I use Paint , Artrage or even Dogwafle and edit/convert my paintings in Neopaint.

you really should remove those monkeys, if you're not going to make them move. But if it's going to be an uninteractive start screen or something, then you can keep them in it.

I 'll remove the monkeys from the painting and add them as characters or something. I'll add some birds maybe. The main character will be hiddenÃ,  and this room is kind of transitive anyway, so not too much interaction needed in my opinion.

stuh's edit is really all you need (after changing the shape of the trees, of course)

I added some details (edited my first photo). Now what??

I guess he just wants deciduous trees

Correct.
OhÃ,  and it's "she" not "he".

The silhouette of a tropical forest? Boy, that's a tough job!
The tree tops could easily be mistaken for mountains and other stuff.

Hints: show some taller trees, to show some tree trunks (visual references).
It would also help to hang some liana (? translation I found) on a few trees and nocturne life popping in some places. The sound would do the rest.

There is another room which shows the jungle, with trees and all that, although it still needs work. This room is supposed to be the character looking at the night sky. I like the edit but I should change it to tops of tropical trees instead of coniferous.

Thanks for the ideas.

hey buddy,
trees are exactly what this needs and don't let anybody tell you different :P

It may have been my drawing them, then... :-[
Your edit looks good, only thing is that it's supposed to be jungle or similar.Ã,
(my jungle pic looks more than normal forest, but I won't tell you :PÃ,  )

It is supposed to be in theÃ,  middle of nowhere, character walks out of jungle after a rain (it is dark) but clear enough for stars to exist, there is no interaction, only scrolling words, so I won't put objects or hotspots etc..It is too empty though, and I cant find what else to put in a night sky!
I though of adding the tops of trees etc at the bottom but it didnt really work...
Edit
Does this look like tree outlines?? :-\Ã,  Ã,  Ã, Another thought: if character is in the jungle, I think the view of the sky can't be taht clear? I mean, should I show that it's a clearing, a river or something ?

I havn't changed the tree much, but here it is with a bg...

I like the sea.
I guess you are going to work more on the island's soil...Only thing is I find the tree should look "planted" not just "positioned" on the ground.

What NEW site could I add to my domain, like, in a sub domain, to keep people coming back?
I want it to be a site that people would WANT to come back to...

Did you think of what sites YOU like visiting? What is their content? Or what sites with many visitors have to present that generates that big traffic? You may like to make a list and adapt it to your own style, work and preferences. Add your site's adress to any informal correspondence.
....
Or you may even e-mail your friends and blackmail them with photographs from primary school if they dont get three people to visit!! :P

Thanks, it worked.
It took some seconds and gave a black screen first , I thought it crashed again, but it took me to the other room.

The credits plugin is a bit buggy, I see... There's no news of a new version, so we'll have to stick with this... There should be command for something like IsCreditFinished or something that you should be able to use to determine when the scrolling has ended...

I put
Quote// script for Room: Player enters screen (after fadein)
ScrollCredits (1, 2, 100, 150, 1, 3, 2);
SetCredit (1,"blah blah...", 65503,3,1,50, 0);
SetCredit (3,"blah blah...", 65503,3,1,50, 0);
etc etc
SetEmptyLineHeight (50);
IsCreditScrollingFinished ();
ScrollCredits (1, 2, 100, 150, 1, 3, 2);Ã,  Ã, if I don't put that one it pauses at line 5 or so and doesnt show the whole text.
}
and then problems start
I cant find what to put after that one
The most convenient would be to switch on an arrow or something after the text, so that the player can go to next room, unless I can have something else with less scriptingÃ,  :-\

I use credits plugin inside the game, to give some info , not for ending the game, but I can't change room after the scrolling ends. Nothing works after scrolling , I put player.ChangeRoom etc and I even tried to put an object after scrolling but the object or whatever I tried is on from the beginning and palyer changes room immediately after they enter the screen. I find info for static credits but didn't find any for scrolling ones.
Thanks

From the screenshots, your game looks as if it has very nice graphics.
OK, let's say that it's not puzzleless any more...but still unfinished.

But i would rather wait and play the finished game than play unfinished versions without puzzles etc.
I bet you've never been the child who secretly unraps christmas' gifts the night before... :P
