Quote from: Crimson Wizard on Wed 05/03/2025 11:30:49This has been the standard behavior of AGS for years: if you start the test run from the editor, it deletes a compiled file from Compiled folder.
There were certain reasons for this in the past, but that no longer is a case. So this behavior was removed starting from AGS 3.6.2.

Thank you. Although I can't imagine what problem that was considered the best solution for, it's a moot issue now.

When I build my game and then run it in the editor, as soon as the game launches the built executables disappear. I'm using the latest version as of this post (version 3.6.1.31 P9).

Can anyone else confirm this behavior before I file a bug? I'm running the editor on Linux using the Wine compatibility layer. I'd like to confirm that people who use the editor on Windows have the same issue.

WELCOME TO LIMBLOB

A short and simple adventure

Story:

You arrived at the adventure game afterlife. Sadly, your poor
performance in your last game has left you a blob with no mouth or limbs.

You need to find a way to get limbs to be able to leave the afterlife and go into your next adventure.

Use of the theme: (light spoilers)
Spoiler
As you get more parts for your body you get access to actions or verbs. For example getting a mouth allows you to talk to people and since some of them are removable having them or not resolve different things.

Nicely done. And the puzzles were challenging enough that I even restarted once to make sure I hadn't overlooked something.

Quote from: pell on Tue 04/03/2025 06:29:45Here's mine.

Migth be just me but isnt the windows build missing like the main exe file? I havent tried running the Linux one but that one looks ok

The download is fixed now.

This happened last month too. Now I understand what's happening. If I run the game from the editor after building it, as soon as the game launches, the build files disappear.

Here's mine. It still has placeholder art, but it's playable. There are multiple endings, depending upon your choices during the game.

I'm mostly done. After a few final touches, I'll be in by midnight my time.
#27
I'm still too far behind. But I'll definitely have something by the new deadline.
#28
The editor keeps crashing on me, and I'm losing changes even with saving after everything I do. So I won't meet my goal of making it by midnight, but I still plan to get something in before I go to bed.

I mistakenly deleted the virtual machine drive I had to run the AGS editor in Linux, and setting it all up again is proving to be a pain as usual (getting the editor working is the hassle, not setting up a virtual machine). So I probably won't make this one.

Edit: Also, as usual, I'm too stubborn to know when to quit. So I got it working eventually. So it looks like I'm still in.

Quote from: Radiant on Mon 10/02/2025 17:33:01My idea: have a classic Sierra menu bar, but you cannot use the walk / hand / eye icons because you're missing those body parts. You need to find them before the interface fully works.

But I don't have time this month so if anyone wants to take my idea, they're welcome to.

This could be interesting. I'm really struggling to come up with an idea for this.

Are we allowed to use assets i.e. game dev market for our projects? Like the ones in the humble bundles? (Music/sprites/sounds)? Or only free ones?

I think it has to be content that's freely available to everyone, but I'll have to go find where I read that. Of course, Stupot may clarify.

I'm already a good way into a script.

I've already got a story idea I like.

In honor of the short month, I'm going to commit to working on time management and getting an entry in by the deadline without the need for an extension. I challenge everyone else to do the same.

It should be working now. I hadn't set the project to be publicly accessible.

That download link isn't working, so I have it here:

I know I'm probably a user interface curmudgeon, but it's a little jarring as a viewer for the screenshots in the "Play Hundreds of Games" section to be covered by interface elements.

It's not that the wavy windows look bad. But the web design is partially hiding the very information the page is there to show. Maybe the waves could be moved down a bit, but then there's a lot of extra space taken up. Maybe a more subtle wave can be used that doesn't interfere with the screenshots, or rectangles with rounded corners if normal rectangles are too stiff for the design.

@VampireWombat

I took a look at MMM. The graphics look very nice. I know you got stuck in asset development and didn't finish the game. Looks like you're all set up for the next "finish your MAGS game" topic.

For whatever it's worth, here are a couple of issues I encountered:
Spoiler
When the player character is facing any view except towards us, it is in silhouette. Also, when the character climbs onto the ladder, they get stuck. Pushing and pulling the ladder works even when the character is on the ladder, but nothing allows getting off.

@WHAM

I just finished a playthrough of POS. Very nicely done. Kudos for fitting a fairly fleshed out story and replay value into a game jam entry.

I'll probably play through a couple of times more, but I did want to point out what was probably a bug while I'm thinking about it.
Spoiler
I made hot chocolate drinks and gave the girl a cup before spiking it with alcohol. Then when I spiked the remaining cups with the licquor, the girl got sick without drinking another cup.

I didn't plan on participating by myself this month, but I'm willing to handle the art side if you or someone else wants to collaborate.
I don't have much time for coding either, but I'm sure I could cook up some backwards puzzles or a stupid plot, if needed.

We'll have to do another one sometime. I'm hoping there's another "finish your MAGS game" topic so we can finish our last one.

Definitely interested in collaborating to make a game, do you have Discord?

I sent you a private message.
