To be confirmed. It's all down to when the AGS Award ceremony is set for (late-March-ish). When we know the exact date, I'll close the voting a few days before it.

If I were to make videos, should they be full playthroughs?

When is the deadline for voting?

heltonjon and I are not going to make the deadline, but we're still going to finish the game we started.
#64
When does voting end? I still have to play ddavey1983's game.

Quote from: heltenjon on Sat 01/10/2022 11:46:32Agreed, the topic is super! I hope lots of AGS-ers jump on this one.

If anyone more artistically inclined than myself need a hand with story, dialogue or puzzles, feel free to give me a shout.

I'm game for a collaboration.

Great topic. I'll see what I can come up with.

My game should be ready for release tomorrow. Didn't think I was going to get it done in time but looks like I will now barring a major disaster.

I'm glad someone else is jumping in to challenge glurex, because I'm not going to make it this time.

I have the story and puzzles worked out. Now I'm figuring out the logistics of some of the puzzles and prop handling.
#69
I like the topic. I'll jump in this time.

Pell, the zip file is empty. Could you please re-upload to itch.io?

Stupot, I have an unfinished game and could use an extension if possible. If not, I'll release it anyway after the deadline.  ;)

Thanks. I fixed it. I don't create zip files very often on Linux, so I didn't pass the right options to the archiver.

OK. So I said it might be something really small. This isn't even actually a game. But hey, I said I was in, so I wanted to do something.

I actually thought there would be at least a bit of narrative, but I couldn't remember AGS functionality quickly enough at the last minute. So only the final part went in.

Thanks. I was hoping this would go up early. I'm definitely in, even though it may be something really small.
#73
Mine will involve pirate treasure, but I have a few twists from the norm in mind if I can work them out.
#74
I'm in if I can get the AGS editor installed in a VM. I don't remember what all I did last year, but my attempts to install dot Net in Wine yesterday went unrewarded.

Edit: It looks like I got it working. See you all on the 31st.

Short but very funny and entertaining.

Thank you.

I'm going to bow out unless I get a flash of inspiration for something I can do well in a couple of weeks. I like the idea I was thinking about, but it needs some more time to incubate.

@pell
Spoillers inside!
Spoiler

I just didn't think of steeping into the pad and then press the down button... cause for some odd reason I though he would walk out of the pad to press the button.  (laugh) Maybe the fact that there's where he walks to when I press the button elsewhere in the room, and his arms being so short.  ;)

Thanks. I was a little concerned that could be confusing.

Skyfall:

I was struck for a long time now sure what to do. I did enjoy the puzzle though.  :) And was fun to zap animals up and down.   (laugh)
Good first game. Keep it up.

Can you elaborate on what you were confused about? I was trying to make it understandable without words so anyone could play without needing to know English (or how to read). I intend to make more games with that criteria, so I'd like to know were I'm failing.

My thoughts on the entries this month follows.

Skyfall:
Spoiler
I played this a long time before the others, and I remember thinking this one would surely win. I was impressed how a love story was combined with repairing a space station. The puzzles are connected, so I experienced this mostly as a beautiful mood piece. If there is such a thing as modernist romanticism, this is surely it.

I think the comment about this game feeling like a children's book come to life, hit the nail on the head. Good mood, mooing and a fine first game. I'd like to see it expanded.

Midnight Squadron:
Spoiler
A scary story which plays like the first part of a larger game. I liked that the exploration was extended by events. There wasn't really much to do - this one is more about following the story, but it's engrossing and suitably dark.Creepy-looking monster!

The Penthouse:
Spoiler
I actually was stuck here for a while because I hadn't discovered the hall to the south. Oh well. Long game with well-thought-out puzzles and story, multiple solutions and multiple endings, kind of, anyway. The scorecard in the end was impressive and added a lot. I liked the original plot twist about needing to hide the evidence. A gem.

Over Roger:

Okay, while I seldom will vote for the arcade games, I tend to be drawn to trying them out first. I had fun blasting cylons. The game was a lot more difficult when playing with the keyboard, but once I opted for the mouse, I got the hang of it. Very satisfying to see an end screen in a shooter. I tend not to get that far.

Vertigo:
Spoiler
I liked the graphic style and the crazy world premise a lot. Could there be more stories from the people living in the treetops, I wonder? A bit of pixel hunting for me, but it didn't hinder my progress. A couple of good puzzles in the bridge scene. Not difficult, but made me feel good when I solved them.

My vote vent to:
Spoiler
The Penthouse. I spent the most time with this one, and I was never bored. On another day I may have chosen Skyfall because that was the one that most gave me something I wasn't prepared for, in a good way. Solid entries by everyone!

Thanks again for the feedback. I don't know if I'll expand the game. But I'm sure I'll reuse the character and/or some of the assets.

Does it matter whether that's the player character or another character? Because after changing the player character's script name and it's starting room, I had no problems even when I moved the character around and walked into another room.

I mean, this error happens not in game, but in editor. By "moving character", I mean dragging character around the room editor, not walking in game.

Changing character's room in script does not apply to this, as script is only executed at runtime.

Ah, OK. I was assuming Cordate's error message was thrown by the engine running the game. Now that I look at it again, I see it was probably thrown by the editor.
