Hmm..

I think a better story would be :

Chris was standing on his toilet, hanging a clock.  He slipped and fell, bumping his head on the sink causing him to be knocked unconscious.  When he came to he had the idea for the flux capacitor AGS system, which is what makes time travel adventure game creation possible.

Something has been running through my head all day and I figured I would ask since there is a good mixture of different nationalities on here..

My wife and I are Americans, we live right near Washington DC, so we have normal run-of-the-mill (IE: non-southern) American speech patterns.  We watch a lot of BBC America and had this discussion the other night with some of our friends who agree:

Most Americans find British accents to be suave, even sexy sounding.  I find females with a British accent to be more sexy than if they spoke with an American accent, as do some of my friends.  My wife feels the same way about males with British accents (I need to be careful not to introduce her to any), as do some of her girlfriends.

Scottish, Irish, Welsh (very hard to understand) and other UK accents are similarly rated, but not as high as British (primarily the London, Liverpool and even Cambridge dialects, not so much the Cockney and others).

I was wondering if those in the UK have the same feelings about American accents, speech patterns, or whatever you'd like to call it?

Thanks!

lol Futurama = win

I have thoughts of santa and his reindeer dodging missiles as they try to land in a war-torn wasteland..

Or the Grinch running from zombies as he tries to steal christmas.

Or Santa -vs- Jesus in a battle for supremacy destroying the planet...  (Think Spirit of Christmas, the South Park pilot episode).

I won't be entering this one because I want to keep going on Murran 3, so if anyone wants any of these ideas, I'd love to see it hehe.

Nope, unfortunately it didn't work.

I just went ahead and began re-doing it.  I swear though, I am about 50% through it after about 3 hours of work.  Things go MUCH faster when you already know how you want it, what colors, shading, etc.   This much the first time around took me probably 7-8 actual hours of hands-on work.

Thanks!

I am going to have to check this out.

Any game with an interface button for "Kick" has got to be good.

I might be able to chime in here...

I read the recent interview in the blog that CJ gave, and he is really pressed for time at the moment.  He said that he is having trouble just making the existing version of AGS stable, fixing bugs and the like.  I wouldn't expect a new version for quite some time.

I also remember at some point someone else asking about this, and the reply being that it was too complicated to work into the app.  I dunno though, times have changed :)

Ok, so I spent about 3 days so far working on one of the backgrounds for Murran Episode 3, and I just went to open it, and it looks like the file is corrupt.

I use Paint.net for it, and all other files open fine, but it looks like this one is bad.  Does anyone know of any tricks to repair, or even open it fullscreen so I can grab a screenshot and go from there?

I REALLY don't want to have to begin all over again...

Thanks,

Bill

I think it looks pretty good.  I am not sure why, but for some reason when I first look at the image (every time I look back at it after looking away), it REALLY messes with my eyes.  I don't know if it is the color scheme, the size of the things, or what, but it makes my eyes kinda swim.  After a second it normalizes and I can see it fine.

Dunno if it is just me, but after my vision calms down, it looks good.

**EDIT:  Maybe I'm dying....**

Haha, those are really cool reads.  Good job on the interviews!

Haha :)  Thanks guys.  Neil is also back on duty, working diligently on sprites, portraits, and all the detailed little things I can't do well.

And speaking of Mr. Danger, I still get random emails about that.  It seems to have been some kind of cult hit or something.  Ah well  :=

As I said in my update above, I am back on the job, working on Murran #3.  I am posting 3 of the new backgrounds I've worked on:

One of the houses in Landsdowne.

One of the shops being terrorized by the strange goat-like creatures.  This is a long background I have cropped.  There are 3 stores here, a music store, flower shop, and an ethnic novelty shop.

This is a scene depicting a tranquil (or so it seems) park.

Thanks,

Hello everyone,

My prize for the May MAGS competition was a CD that Klaus sent me containing every game entered into the MAGS competition for the 5 years he hosted it.

I took the CD and put it on my webserver so that anyone who wants it can download it to enjoy.  There are some nice ones in there.

The zipfile is about 723 Megs in size, so it's large..

I will be uploading individual games this weekend so that they can be downloaded if someone doesn't want to get all of them.  I will update this post then.

In the meantime, the games are at :

Enjoy!!

Thanks,

Glad you like it :)

I am expecting to get it done by the end of July, then it will enter Beta testing.  I tend to have a LOT of spare time *cough* at work *cough* to work on it.

Personally, I prefer to compress all my files into .WAD files.  I can then use Doom to decompress them all as needed :)

Will there be any options for non lethal weapons like tasers or pepper spray? Just because I draw my gun on somebody doesn't exactly mean I want to KILL him.

Guard: OW!! You crazy bugger! You shot me!
John Connor: I can't believe it! You just shot that guy!
Terminator: He'll live!

It isn't that kind of game.  There was only one part in MC Episode 2 where you needed your gun, and that was in a non-lethal kind of way, at the end of the game.

As of now, there is no use for the gun other than two scripted events, but it's not lethal use, and you aren't using it on a person.  Using the gun on people or most items/object will get you a stern talking-to.

Without ruining the game, or giving too much information out...  When you see where this game is going with the story (especially related to Ken, the player), you won't care about using a gun :)

Here are some new screenshots, including the new character sprite, the speech portrait, and Turner's sprite, done by Neil (announced as new sprite artist above).  Also linking in the new screenshots:

**Note:  We are doing away with the shadow under the main character**
