I am not being modest, as I think several nominations of TUM were deserved, but there were a few categories where lesser-played games should have been there instead of TUM (or other frequently nominated games)...

That just goes to prove that people should play more AGS games (that advice also serves me well...)

...all long legged avatars are expecting Shadowplay - I wonder what that means?
#23
question from an ignorant:

how to access the ags channel? I know I have to get a mIRC client (or something like that) but nothing else

Donna!!!!!
Shadowplay
By the Sword: Conspiracy
and part 2 of Bestowers of Eternity

btw, with the remixor hard drive crash, that's the third reported case of hard drive failure: me, danny and remixor...

so, don't forget to back up frequently (or get RAID): you could be next!!!

Not named yet (maybe The Brotherhood, Dances with Gods, The Next Generation, ...)
End of 2004, hopefully...
Will more than 100MB be too much for download?
If so, it will be 640x480, if not, I'll go for the full works 800x600 32 bit colour, "lots" of character animations, and as such I doubt that I'll stick to the schedule)

I am playing with no sound... what's the solve for the safe puzzle?

I've been trying out 2.6 and it has great improvements since the previous version I tried (2.54)...

However, there seems to be some kind of a bug when trying the cropping sprite feature: I cropped some sprites (a hundred or so) and it worked fine. "Now", when I try cropping newer sprites it seems to work right (they appear cropped when viewing) but after I save the game and run AGS again, those newer sprites are still with the size prior to the cropping (I repeated that again, one at a time or as a group as the result is the same).

The game is 800x600, 32bit color...

In any case, congrats, Chris, AGS is even better!!!!

Edit: OK, some more clues about the cropping problem: I also have a testing game at 640x480 16bit, and it happens the same... when? my older sprites were 640x480 (huge, I know) and I could crop them right - my newer ones are 320x240 (and although when I crop AGS delivers the msg: "n sprite(s) were cropped to 52x117" after I save and exit AGS, when I run it again those sprites are still at 320x240...

Edit again: No, that's not it... I tried again: imported some 640x480 sprites. Tried cropping a few - it worked... exit and run AGS again - OK... Tryed cropping some more of those 640x480 sprites - message says it works... but, after saving, exiting and loading game again, the last batch of sprites are still at 640x480... just out of the top pf my head: could it have to do with memory management or something (BTW I'm using Win XP Pro)

I've been playing the game at work, and, wow!, the game is a beaut - very absorbing, which in my present situation, it's dangereous stuff, since I really have work to do!

Great job, Dave!!!! Truly great!

Unfortunately, I can't get to play the game at home... I can, but F1 doesn't work (as it doesn't in my own game) - somehow, my wireless keyboard doesn't recongnise the F1 to F9 keys when playing AGS games... Anyone has the same problem?
#31
Beh, I should have played a lot more AGS games! I can't fill any of the nominations categories!!!! buh-uh...

(Can I vote for best character a character that features in a Non-Adventure Game?)
#32
well, panda!, it looks like babelfish translation (the phrase has english construction) but I can understand you... keep at it!

and how are we doing, relative to games?

I know fjeronimo was doing a major one with great art (done by very talented english fellow - he was probably a professional artwise...), and redruM has a demo (which I haven't played)... I am doing an ambicious game (probably too much, since it will be huge in terms of size... it also helps that I am considering having it 800x600 and 32-bit resolution - but it is looking good!) which I hope I can complete by end of 2004... And what about the rest of the guys?

I went to the dictionary. Quão means both(?) "como" (like or similar) and "quanto" (how many), but I don't remember ever seen that word used - perhaps is a poetic term or whatever.

And also, "como" (or "quão") means "like" in the sense of "to be like" or "to be similar", not the verb "to like" or "to enjoy"

In any case, Os Ultimo Quão Queijo is a striking title for a rock band, for instance - maybe you should get it copyrighted!

And where are the other portuguese???
#34
ditto! wants me to log in at the forum, although I'm already logged here...
I'm at work, behind a firewall and all that stuff, but I'm afraid it will happen the same at home ... (it usually does)
#35
Ola,
Bemvindo shotgun!

btw, "os ultimo quão queijo" doesn't mean anything at all!!!! "Quão" ???? Antic form of "Quanto" (how many)? The Last how many cheese?

I think that

SimBrothel 3069 : WhoreCraft - CUG

that is on the Non-Adventure Games should be ON the ADVENTURE Games list...
It's true that it is a mix between a strategy and adventure game, but most of the fundamental adventure components are there - besides the game is a riot, it's brilliant!!!

you're right, there's too much light - I'll have to tone down a bit... (the window is a larger "version" of the door you can see, hence the shape of the shadows)
and I see what you mean about the moss (especially on the floor, I guess), although I don't want to make it stick out too much... I'll try out some more...
#38
Yakspit: huh, I still don't understand where to use the opacity map (I know what it is and I guess you were refering also to the use of gradients or fallof, but don't understand exactly your msg)...
Do you mean, considering only the moss bits (emerging from the concrete), that the moss should be opaque at the center of those regions and be translucid near the borders with the concrete?
#39
3ds max 5 - although I find it tough: now that I am better with lights and texturing, I forgot most of what I learned about polygon modeling (and I still have to try out animation, NURBS, patches and loads of it)
#40
Thanks for the feedback and for the praise...

YakSpit, I don't understand where and how I should use the opacity map - for the moss, you mean?

The look of that room should make some sense within the plot, but those points some of you make , make me reconsider the logic of what I was thinking of (you see, the reason why the room is like that, is something the mainchar will have to find out)...
Dust in that room makes much sense, I will have to take care of that...
About the rotten look, yeah it's probably too much, compared to the other part of the room, even considering the plot...

Definitely, I will not make an animation of the mainchar going down the stairs (but something like the fade out so much in fashion even for games like Syberia or BS III) and probably will chose different camera angles...
