I always wanted to be Han Solo when we played Star Wars...

Anyways, what are your first Indy memories?

I remember the first time I saw Raiders. Or at least the first fifteen minutes...
I was like, 3 or 4 at the time and my dad showed me the intro scene. I ran for my life screaming when I saw Satipo's impaled corpse.

Adios, Shawno.

After that I remember Temple of Doom coming out and the talk of the school yard was monkey brains and snake surprise.

Just pulled a marathon. Watched all three movies plus the bonus stuff.

Yep, still the best movies ever made.

Seriously, this is just wierd.
I got a copy of Leisure Suit Larry 2 off Ebay like a month ago, and I was going through the contents tonight.
There is a name written on the disks.
That name is...

Well, in all honesty, there's nothing he can do.
Seems like he's accepted it.

I am very interested in seeing Larry trying to get laid in college. The amount of potential there is insane. Jocks and frat boys and the obligatory prude dean of the school + a young Larry = Whee!

However, my faith in Sierra is less than zero, so I'll just make up the game in my head.

Thanks guys. Sometimes you just need to feel the sympathy.

And yeah, I understand the theory behind it. There are too many robberies to investigate blah blah, but I mean, wouldn't the fact that punks know that these crimes aren't investigated only lead to more robberies?

What a disaster.

You know, once in high school I told a girl that one day she'd see a story on the news about a real-life Batman, and it would be me. This may be that day.

Anyways, my big fear now is that they'll return for all the stuff they missed the last time, which, while not likely, includes my old adventure games and my guitar, and so I've decided to build an ingenious trap of somekind. Something devious and vile. Like an eyeball-melting-acid-device.

We were robbed today.

My entire DVD collection, gone.
Playstation 2 and all the crap that goes with it, gone.
Same for Gamecube.
I'm still investigating for more.

The worst are the DVDs, because I had a lot, like over 50, and some were limited edition and are out of print now.

Oh, and we may not be covered by insurance.

Also, there are about 600 finger prints all over the place, but apparently police don't investigate breaking and entering, so too bad.

So basically, feel free to rob whomever you want, because as long as you aren't caught in the act, you're free to do whatever you please.

Do cops actually do anything? I'm serious here, what are they for? Seems like if it's not a murder, riot, or traffic violation then they write a little report and go off to Burger King (yeah, I saw the cop that was at our place there right after). I swear, there are greasy fingerprints everywhere. Couldn't they at least put them on file or something? Or is that too logical?

I suppose that's a bit dramatic, but I can't think of an instance ever when a cop has helped me with anything. Even when I was almost killed in a hit and run accident, they were rude and insensitive. I was in fucking shock and they just made a report and sent me on my way.

edit: Oh yeah, and I broke a tooth in half today. GOOOO ME!

Yeah, but like I said, power-mad dolts.
Our school was pretty tame, not a lot of drugs or fights, since we only had about 200 students, so I guess they had to find some way to make us hate them.

As another example of assholes trying to ruin good memories for kids, one year we wanted to put together a band for our annual talent show. We wanted to play something like 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' or whatever. They refused. No reason given. I guess they didn't like our taste in music. They recommended we play 'Something by Peter Frampton'. Cross one great childhood memory off the list.

One year they accused me of cheating on finals and said I'd either have to repeat the grade or change schools.
I called their bluff and told them I'd changed schools.
I didn't change schools, nor did I repeat the grade.

This other time I almost got suspended for wearing shorts too early in the year, despite the fact that it was 32 degrees out. Don't remember how I proved they were morons that time, but suffice it to say, I didn't get suspended.

And yet another time I got in late from lunch with a buddy of mine, so we left our jackets in one of the bathrooms (we weren't allowed into the locker area if we were late, and would face detention if we asked to be let in). When we went back my jacket had been stolen.
The next year we were doing some fundraising after-hours, so we got the special key to use the maintenance elevator. The door opens. The janitors trolley of janitorial crap is sitting there. My jacket is hanging off of it. I decide just to let it be, since the poor guy must be in dire straights to have to steal a jacket from a kid, but my friend wigs out and tears the jacket to pieces, literally. They try to get us to buy him a new jacket, we refuse. I prove it was stolen. They never admit being wrong, however the topic mysteriously never comes up again, and the janitor in question dissapears without a trace the next year.

Point being, the people that run public schools are nothing but a bunch of power-mad dolts who are easily outwitted by the students in their care. I'll try to keep this in mind when my kids are in school.

As far as shenanigans go... hmm... let me think about it a while. We did a lot of dumb stuff, but I'm not sure what's original and interesting and what's just the regular teen-aged stupidity.

Howard Stern got pulled off the air in Quebec for making jokes about french people.

I guess all the jokes about jewish, black, italian, female, short, tall, fat, skinny, rich, poor, dumb etc people were okay though.

Quotehang out, joke around, remember what they did on the weekend, not kill people in car crashes, not vomit every other day, not complain about self induced headaches, save money, not worry their parents, heroin

Oh.

Actually, it's a skill that we develop early to know how much to drink before you make yourself sick/forget things/kill people.

Unfortunately, most people are not good at this skill.

Would you believe that I've never been sick from drinking? Throwing up is my absolute most hated thing of all time, so I make it a point to know when I'm going to hit that barrier.

Bah, I think this thread is heading into make-shawn-look-bad territory.

Yeah, I drink, yeah, there are better things to do. I have no excuses. I need a hug.

QuoteA 21 year drinking age would be irritating, by the time you're that age, you won't be stupid enought to do all the stupid things you want to do when you get drunk.

I was stupid enough.
In fact, at 25 I think I can say that while the stupid things may have changed slightly in their nature, they are most certainly still there.
Although the definition of 'stupid' may vary...

Anyways, I have to say one of the most annoying things ever was going down to Florida with my girlfriend when we were 20 and being denied entry into every damn bar and club around. I was practically a veteran drinker at that point for farts sake.

So what do teenagers do for fun in less alcoholic parts of the world?

Not that I condone underage drinking of course...

I wonder if we'll eventually be able to vote fictional characters into office... Oh wait.
#316
Yeah, I'll probably add more in-game things like that as well.
I'm not totally against these compilation things, I just feel that the authors should have some say in it.
This compilation is a blatant cash-in. They obviously don't care about the fact that half of the content is illegal. They obviously don't care about the authors of these games. Their cover artwork is garbage. Try to find some info about them on the web. Good luck. I would have told them to go to hell if they would have contacted me.

Seems like our community has reached the point where we have to start protecting ourselves. Fine with me.

This Game is Lickmysweatyscrotumware

Lickmysweatyscrotumware is a response to people who think they are being smart by making a quick buck off of other peoples work without said other people knowing about it. It is not meant as an insult to the good people out there that just want to make it readily available to the masses. Those people are cool. They promote free stuff, which is great, so go and click on their web banners and junk. Let it be known that they don't have to lick my sweaty scrotum. Unless they really, really want to. Which I wouldn't if I were them. Even I don't know where it's been.

This game may be distributed freely, provided the following:

- The contents of the game are not modified in any way.
- The contents of the original distribution package (The original one that I put together, I being Shawn Guzzo, and not you, being, whoever) are not modified in any way, including adding your own little crappy text files.
- You are not a greedy whore just trying to make a quick buck off my work at the expense of unknowing consumers who are unaware that you can download it free on the internet. This does not include websites that make money from advertising (like www.the-underdogs.org), even though pop-up ads are annoying.

These rules may be circumvented by contacting the author (moi) and discussing it like intelligent people. If deemed a non-asswipe, the author (moi) will then grant you permission to do whatever it is you want to do with the game. In fact, there's a good chance he will, just because you were nice enough to ask.

If you purchased this game as part of a compilation or whatever, I can only hope that the distributor made it clear that this game is in fact free. You paid for a cd or download or something, not the game. If this is not the case, feel free to let me know, and I'll do what I feel is appropriate. I will not refund your money. I didn't get any of it in the first place.

If reading all of this has annoyed you, well, you can blame that lovely entity known as Greed. I don't think the simple courtesy of asking permission to include someone else's work with your own is much to ask or unreasonable. Some people seem to think otherwise.

Thanks for understanding.

So, did I miss anything here? Any blatant loopholes?

I'm willing to bet there are a couple of StarWars games next for Lucasarts.

Maybe one or two.

Dozen.

Per month.
