Someone take action and make a new tune contest.  I feel the need to compete.

The Rumpus Room / Re: The music thread

Favorite genre is Jazz (real jazz, not smooth jazz).
Guess I should list some people I listen to-

(Insert famous jazz guy here:)
Wes Montgomery (the guy in my avatar).
Joe Pass
Charles Mingus
John Coltrane
Miles Davis
Charlie Parker
Wayne Shorter

And some newer guys too, like Gordon Goodwin's Band, Gary Urwin's Band, Pat Longo's Band

But I listen to anything I can get my hands on.  Lately I've been getting into symphonic goth metal (nightwish, epica, et al).

No seriously, I don't know what it is but for the past few months I have had strange things happen to me in my room, and only when I am in my room. I'll go to sleep, but while in my dream state I will open my eyes (a friend of mine was also in the room when one of these things happened) I can see everything quite clearly, so I know it is not a dream, I cannot move I feel trapped. But I can start to see things while in this state that actually effect the room (like I seen things coming through the walls that scared the livin' crap out of me)

Do any of you know what this could be?

I've actually heard of this.  I saw some documentary on it a long time ago.  Apparently it's not harmful to you (except that it's pretty scary).  I don't know much about it, but I'd suggest seeing a doctor (or maybe a hypnotherapist, heh).  Anyway, the documentary I watched was a long time ago, but I vaguely remember the name as "sleep paralysis", as well as hypnagogia.

Interesting stuff.

Oh, come on. I just spent eight hours reading that! Thanks a lot for the link. I'll be going to class now instead of sleeping through the night like I was supposed to.

Seriously, I don't know how I missed this comic, and thanks for linking it.

Hah, yeah, I should be doing history homework right now  :P

Sorry for the insane bump, but I thought I might as well mention that I play this god forsaken game as well.

Mind you, I tend to only play on the weekends, as for I'm really busy this year.

I got the game in June, and I've dabbled a bit with a few characters, until I finally decided on my main, an Undead Priest, level 44 atm (trying to race my friends to 60, hehe).  Server: Dethecus, in case you by some remote chance play on the same server, which you probably dont.

Now to scan the competition forum for a music contest, hehe.

I might go back to the IRC channel someday, if you're lucky....  ...

General Discussion / So what did I miss?

Well, this is the first time I've logged on in like 7 months. I'm pretty mad at myself for not coming back here so often. You guys are all great, I just had to come back.  I won't be making many games, but I'll still be hanging out in general/cc forums.

Just posting this to say hey to everyone I used to work with/talk to/troll.

I didn't know you were gone!

Really? I haven't  been here since about December or so to a couple weeks ago.

I tried downloading your game, but I guess the file got removed from the server or something.

General Discussion / Make a South Park you!

South Park Studio!

Hours of fun, especially if you watch the show.

(That's me!)

You can't save it as an image file, so use Print Screen.

Any takers?  Maybe this wasn't as good an idea as I thought, especially if you're working with MIDI.
I'll see how this works out at the end, and if no one enters I'll think up something else

I won by default. That's good enough for me  :=

For this week, we're trying something new. Any genre you want. But here's the catch:
You must record your own samples, and they need to come from your mouth.

You can add effects, mess around with the pitch, whatever.  All I care about is that the samples are orally generated sound effects.

I happen to have an example that I did a while ago.  I recorded all the sounds, added (too many) effects and messed around with them using the FL 4 piano roll.

(Note: When making your song, please don't use as much reverb as I did  :P )

Have fun.

Woo!  I'll start it right away.
