Have you given whatever it is the game won't find the correct filename?  What is the file called?

While the main post wasn't a bad topic it seems to have moved on to a religious vs non religious, death penalty vs rehab, and even partly an evolution vs somethingelse and a conservative vs liberal type argument.  It often happens.. I'm sure everyone's seen them before, it's hardly ever a debate or interesting discussion unless it's very controlled.. so I think it's best to stop unless you have something really useful and interesting to add rather than each person stating their position on something and saying all the others are stupid ._.

And it'd be easy to start going on about what I think.. because usually we have stong beliefs about stuff like this, but I'm not going to of course :)

People will probably play a MI game whetever.. but I beg you not to use 800x600 :P

And no, I don't think there already is one at that res.. because most people would do a MI game in the original resolutions (320x200 for the forst two, 640x480 for CMI or EMI style).  But I think it's only really a matter of doing new high res graphics, so perhaps someone will help you do one.

I just said.. the colours aren't important.

And it should be palletised even if you are using high colour, the walk behinds don't actually get drawn, the pallete is just so AGS can work out which number walk behind the colour is, so colour 1 on the pallete would be colour 1 on the walk behind in AGS.

It makes no difference if the colour 1 is pinkin your pallete and blue in ags, it's the pallete place that counts..

No, you're probably right, although the transparent areas don't involve actually drawing anything they probably do slow it down still..
I just thought that the effort of it all for the speed gain probably wouldn't be worth it, but I can see it bringing in other possibilities so I like the idea :)

There aren't a huge amount of free resources around really, but people will forgive that if you make a good game with what you have :) And at least then people will know you can finish a game and will be more likely to help out with graphics.

Well, if you know how to get a website online that's a start.  Basically you need a host that allows hotlinking, this mean they will allow you to link to your images on other sites, like the ags forums.

One useful place to upload things for the critics lounge (it's for AGS users only) is http://www.2dadventure.com/ags/upload/upload.html

If your image was coolbg1.gif then you upload it there and then it would be found at http://www.2dadventure.com/ags/coolbg1.gif

so you come here and post your message with the [ img]http://www.2dadventure.com/ags/coolbg1.gif[ /img] command and your pic would show up :)

(you would take the spaces out of [ img] and [ /img] though, I put them in so the board wouldn't interpret them as me trying to actually put an image in)

Actually the colour doesn't matter at all.  It helps if you are used to working with palletised images.. make a palletised image, colour 0 in the pallete is the tranparency colour (black in ags editor) and the walk behing numbers go up from there on the pallete.
You should probably set the colours of the pallete to something similar to how they will appear in the ags editor though, to make it easier for yourself.

 :( the idea was that if you waited at the end for between 2 to 8 mins she would say that you found the easter egg (it was released on easter ._.) and she does the taking off top animation but after 2 frames it crashes.

Have you tried what it says to  try if the game crashes?

if not, try turning off the 85hz option in the game setup, if that doesn't solve it then turn off scaling antialiasing.
Hopefully that should get it to work.

How do you get to a room and have the main character in a different one?  I thought the main character was always in the room.

Are you asking then if the screen will follow another character if you change player characters?  Basically the game scrolls so the main character is in the centre unless you've used SetViewport, if you change main characters then the game with follow the new one.

I am still not entirely sure what you're asking but I hope that explains it.

What?  it sounds like you are basically asking if you change your players view will it still scroll.. to which the answer is yes.. but that's pretty obvious.

But basically he's just a guy who made some games and has now left, he annoyed some people a bit toward the end.. people have gotten over it now.
