They have shows of a lot of alternative, or non alternative music, at music festivals. Ã, Eurovision would be a lot less fun if it was about musicianship... and voting on that would be a lot less fun. Ã, Art probably shouldn't be a competition, but silly stage shows with cut out cactii and monster costumes, and awful but enthusiastically delivered pop songs? These are things everyone can understand and vote on just fine, and for most people it seems highly amusing.
Lordi isn't a triumph of metal or anything, but it was nice to see something that wasn't the same as everything else winning... the novelty entries are what make or break eurovision.

I don't really mind if you ignore the advice, but I do wonder which part you disagree with, because it's all basic facts. If it wasn't the case that it requires a lot of time and effort to make games then we'd all have a lot more of them finished. And it's certainly the case that people do import all their graphics manually. At least now there are a few enhancements to the importing, such as importing a number of sprites at once, or an animated gif.

If all you wanted was a paint program like graphics gale I could have suggested a few, but you seemed to want something to automate the process of getting things from the animation program and into AGS. There's no tool to do quite that, but in recentish versions of AGS if you can export your animation to an animated gif you can import that in AGS into seperate sprites automatically, and then if you select those sprites and right click you can "Assign to view".Ã,  That's the best there is right now, IN MY OPINION.

Patience is a prerequisite to making games, same goes for just about any other creative persuit. There's nothing that does what you are suggesting unfortunately. Organising 500 freehand bitmaps into views is exactly what every other person making a game has done... it's a very small amount of time compared to actually drawing them.

There are people outside the forums?

No. Yes.

http://aafiles.bicycle-for-slugs.org/full/The%20Adventures%20of%20Fatman.rar might download faster for you than an iso from archive.org.  Can't remember if that is the cd iso or just the files, but it has voice and music.

General Discussion / Re: Wii

Uh, the DS is selling great in america... (and everywhere else), and Metroid Prime Hunters has been out for ages... it's hardly the star DS game, though, there are many bigger selling and more anticipated games.
They also sold their cartoony games to a rather large market except for on the GC, which sold marginally less than the Xbox.

Not that I have any opinion on how the Wii will sell, it's too much of an oddball to say, I only know I really really want one.

Thought you'd bought your flights, m0ds, for some reason, but you're in the 9, and I'm pretty sure you'll be there :)
Train would be our other option, yes, there's a line from Barcelona to Alicante. By busses I meant local ones from and to the train stations.

I think the mittens van is the best bet. We need to make sure that all the barcelona crew are definitely coming, so we don't waste money on a 9 seater if only 7 show up. Ã, The two that haven't booked are Spleen and Layabout... are you guys certain you're going to?

As for cost, easycar's 9 seater cost would be £376.32. The routefinder route I got tells you to "Leave the V-31 and join the V-31." at one point, I imagine this is where you drive off road and around the toll, but assuming we pay instead, that's about £27.26 according to Farl. A huge car like that is going to get like 20mpg, and it's 303 miles, so we're probably going to need £50 worth of fuel, so in total: £50.30 each... this is similar to what return trains and busses would cost, and we get the use of the car all week, so I still think it's a good idea.

Cosmigo Promotion is good for pixel art animations, but most people use PS's Imageready or PSP's Animation Studio, or just no specific animation software at all.  Animation is generally more of a chore than an art form around here :(

OROW games aren't too short to put in the short games section at all, that's exactly where they should be put, just put on a warning about the super shortness if you want.  As I've probably said before, OROW was not originally conceived to be a competition, but I don't think there's any harm in voting on the entries, and it seems to get some people more motivated.

Speaking of which, OROW 4, if we do it on schedule, will be on the 22nd of this month, hopefully there will be enough interest to make it worth doing.

General Discussion / Re: mittE3ns

Well... half the people aren't really interested in the big games industry, and conferences in general sound kind of a crappy setting for mittens. I'd like to have a Mittens in California for any other reason, though! We'll probably have it in America next year anyway, it's been in europe two years in a row.

AGA is at E3 at the moment, it's his second or third trip there, so perhaps it's funner than I think.
#596
SSH, sure the community and Mittens are great, but I don't think giving your friends points for drawing nice pictures or making a post you agree with is a desirable thing, it makes community a competition.  There's really no benefit to any of the ideas along those lines, they'd only make the place less good... as far as I can see.  More random titles is fine though!
#597
We shouldn't have awards for posting on the forums, or awards for forum competitions, AGS is not about the forums! We have the AGS awards and they're all that matter.
#598
Perhaps not, but I do think we should do a headcount again in case it's too many people. Everyone has been quite vague so far... I'll write a list of who I think is coming, and we can correct/add to that.

Certainties:
scotch
AGA
CJ
LimpingFish
Spleen
Disco
Layabout
MattGoble
Creed Malay
Hotspot
Chicky
Hajo

Probable? Tell me.
Custard
Ashen
m0ds
DarkStalkey
Zoot
Magintz
Necro

Possible?
Petteri
RLacey
Ishmael

So that's 22 potentials, right now, anyone else wanting to come that I missed? Anyone on there can't come?
Ideally it'd be best to get as many people as possible out of the less than certain brackets, because it's in a house... with a certain and finite volume.

So are many mp3 decoders, it doesn't remove the patent issues.  Stupid software patents!
I don't think anyone would chase you down about it, but if you want to be technically totally legal you'd use something else.

It used to contain adware, and now it doesn't, I think.
