Finished it earlier, I must say it exceeded my expectations.  I wasn't sure I'd enjoy it as a platformer, even if it was by Tim, but I did.

If you're ever looking for a game, chances are Roger has it in IRC (#ags on quakenet), I don't know where to get it over http if the underdogs won't work.

Exactly, if we lived 10 years ago it'd be a different story.  Now I'm not saying it's technically impossible to make a modern commercial success in AGS, Runaway could (ignoring a couple of graphical features) have been an AGS game, and that sold well fairly recently, but it took a professional studio to make.
I know at least one highly reputable person in this community is trying to make a quality, high res commercial game, and is having real problems getting enough talented people to work on it, I'm not sure it can be done without pay up front (Something Chapter 11 are resorting to, I hear, and they aren't even going commercial).
Tierra are probably the most committed in the amateur adventure making scene and it takes them a year to make a low res remake, that's just a taste of the work that would go into a successful and original high res commercial length game.  I really can't see their Himalaya Studios game selling much outside their current fanbase, hopefully I'll be proven wrong.

Yes, I found that.
Fatman just about covered expenses, personally I don't think any AGS game is going to be making much of a profit, ever.

Yes, well, adventure games are so ten years ago, and character portraits are generally used in even older games due to the low resolution of the room characters.

(And people DO use it, play the ben jordan games, or the king's quest remakes, or the hamlet)

I'd like it even though I don't use Linux currently, I'd still compile linux versions of my plugins so that the linux engine can play the games.

Like Petteri, I'll probably pass on Brittens, Mittens is enough expense for me.
#968
Yeah, GK3 was fully 3d though, not just characters.  There is no easy engine to do this in, currently.
#969
Yes, I know that, I took more than just the time to read, I used it for a few hours.  I'd have mentioned that but different keystrokes isn't something that bothers me too much about the gimp's interface, PSP has different buttons and that's fine to use, it's the windowing that makes the GIMP suck.

I don't think an over 18 limit is neccessary (for Mittens either actually), there hasn't been one for Brittens before, we're just a group of friends anyway, since when did going somewhere with a friend who is under 18 become a legal liability.

I'll try and come to Brittens, although Mittens is top priority.

As the page says, this really is just a hack, to get a background window in.  It's a small improvement over normal gimp, but floating toolbars can still go underneath images, unlike PS, which makes it pretty impossible to use for me.

No more questions please, if you think it's not completely against the spirit of the rules then it is ok. Ã, One room is not to be taken as a technical AGS limitation, an attic with boxes you can look inside is fine, a yacht that gives you a cutaway view when you walk inside is fine, an arcade where you can play pong full screen is fine, it's all fine!
#973
No you can't.

I'll enter too.

I am not sure about the rules on hardcore graphic art, I would imagine there are few limits, on video most hardcore porn can be sold now, except bestiality, scat, simulated pedophilia or necrophilia and things like that.
Druuna would be fine under British law, I'm sure.

He's petteri's friend.

It's on the games page, try searching for different terms, you'll get it the eventually.
#977
Walkable areas don't, but as far as I can remember, you are free to place characters off screen, and use a blocking and direct (walkable ignoring), walk command to get them onto the walkable area.
#978
Have you tried the gba version of Broken Sword?
Psp would be better of course, with the voice acting and "high" res.  At least it can do 320x200.
#979
It makes no difference in the case of sprites either, they are stored uncompressed.
#980
It makes no difference for AGS, and they are not almost the same quality, they are exactly the same quality.
