and it continues! Great. I love the more detailed artwork, the wallpapers in the office, the car outside the window and the usual umbrella stand with a gun :D

So I made some more longplays, here are some, more on the best youtube channel there is.
Just look at that, I even made a banner image you can click:

But who care about logos when there are Point and Click longplays to watch and hopefully new games to discover... here they are:
(all download links in the video description on youtube or just search the ags games database (except for theropods...))

Toffee Trouble in Creamville

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RdnXaYaanpc

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6HlxrsBtA_k

Toffee Trouble in Creamville follows the footsteps of clumsy Toffee and how she substitues her father, the mayor of Creamville and everything goes wrong. Cute characters, funny dialogs and the bittersweet story about the sugary catastrophy make you want to find out more and help the sweet people of Creamyville.
Watch your calory count after playing this game and don't get diabetes while watching this longplay.

Theropods

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0cy8X-n1Qf8

Theropods was made for the Adventure Jam 2015 and takes you back to ancient times of wild tribes and dinosaurs. Not so heave on a huge story, the action packed game is about rescuing your friend who barely survived a dinosaur attack. Crisp and beautiful pixelart and a fitting soundtrack engage you to play through the game. The puzzles are doable, some more in game hints about what is supposed to happen would be nice, but the full game is still in development.
This game was made in flash and not AGS but it think is is fun and interesting no matter what!

Beacon

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rH72-bk7LdM

Beacon (not bacon) is a very very short game with stunning steampunk artwork by Victor Pflug, the creator of Primordia (released by Wadjet Eye Games). Great atmospheric sounds and a tense setting make Beacon a fun game to explore, play it now or watch the Longplay and get spoiled...

Second Place is for Losers

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kselWytONzo

Second Place is for Losers is not quite a point and click adventure game but a different take on a racing game made in a point and click engine (AGS) by AprilSkies  / Ape Marina (who also made Tales). You play the one sperm that will become you and you have to beat the other sperms on the way to the egg inside your woman's body. There is no second chance, second place is for losers! Somebody just had to make this game!
The game has 2 difficulties, this longplay shows easy mode first, then a an almost done but still failed hard mode attempt ( #1:44 ) and finally a completed run on hard mode ( #2:52 ). This took a while but I did cut all the other failed attempts, you can try yourself to see how hard it is :)

It really depends on what style you're going for. If it's pixel art (like the recent ones posted in the Kate and Shelly thread) then it's best to do them at the game's resolution. If you're going for a more "painterly" look, like Ilyich's work, then you might want to paint them between 2x-4x the game size and then downscale them.

this sums it up, and FF is more pixelart, and downsizing pixelart is most likely giving crappy result, so for Pixelart character portraits either paint at the game's resolution or another possibility would be to just roughly sketch the face at higher res, resize and go straight into the coloring/lighting/cleanup process for pixelart.

In real life, I think killing one person is the same as killing the entire human race.
If you kill everyone there's nobody left to punish you.

this is so unsettingly true  :-D

I think it is really easier to actually paint portraits at a higher resolution than 320x200, maybe 2x or 3x size will be better. then resize it, try different resizing algorithms, see what fits best and give it another pass of cleaning artifacts from the resize and working out details at the lower res.

what would happen if the gov would force the chinese population to use a state coin? Will people be scared of total state co(i)ntrol and get more btc or will they be scare to not be able to access all their btc anymore and buy lots of statecoins? That would make btc fall quite heavy I suppose. But can the state really enfore a cryptocurrency on people? What will people do that don't have electronic devices just because they cannot afford them but still need to handle money to survive? Can they block access to bitcoin wallets?

wow, very interesting the best past of the intro is how he appears from out of the dark @ 1:12.

the light from the side changes from redy orange (best color imho) to bright green to bright yellow orange (and the phone disappears on that, probably behind the paperwork). Some of them seem like neon sign outside of the office, but then, why would the neonsigns outside your office change so much, so this indicates a change of location to me. if there wasn't the green light it could be different heights of the sun outside the office, but the green gave me that neonsign vibe. just saying.

somehow I think the statusbar icons could benefit from a smaller rounded corner than the rest of the elements, but for now I removed the background on the statusbar as a suggestion. I like it better this way :)

This looks nice, but will require some coding, otherwise the status bar will be peeking out because it doesn't hide automatically when the icon bar is shown. (As well as making sure it shows again when the other GUIs are showing, lilke the Item window).
Another solution would be to make the iconbar solid but add a border to the bottom of it so it looks less plain.
what about adding a 1% opacity black background? Not noticable, spreading out the gui and reacting to mouseover and the like.

I had some time on my hands and animated the starfield of the background :)

all 4 frames in one imgur gallery:
https://imgur.com/a/6oDUS

tweening the transparency of the images over each other over 1-2 seconds each could look even cooler, but would require the tween module, way too much for a template... or is it? I'd be happy to not have to import the tween module all the time :)

bitcoin is on some plateau, it could go down from there (if at all, a max of 500 down, no more) or more and more people buy in and it goes through the roof again *yawn*
It seem the ~3000$ value is some magic value the curve dances around, just becaise people want to buy below 3k, some get nervous and buy for close to 3k but above and thus it rises again and the less than 3k bidders get nothing, maybe it goes down below the 3k but my estimation is a rise, but if it goes below 3k, then not by much....

also ether (ETH) has dropped a lot in value but is on the rise again, maybe the rise continues.

Have any of you converted their pre-fork BTC to BCC already? Can you just sell this then???

niiiiiice. I love it when a plan comes together :D

General Discussion / the blender 3D thread
Sun 24/09/2017 12:37:06

with the release of blender 2.79 this free piece of software is getting better and better and there is no better time to start getting into blender than now (great, this line always works, I just have to update the blender version number :D). More and more AGSers are using blender, myself included, so think of this thread as a place to share your blender artworks aside from the critiques longe, a place to ask questions about blender, no matter if for your game backgrounds, lighting, or just some animation you do beside gamemaking and as a place to share and read about interesting tricks and shortcut for using blender.

Buckethead wrote a blender plugin to automate exporting gfx for AGS games:

The new denoising feature for the cycles render engine is absolutely awesome. As the name hints at it denoises the resulting rendered image a lot.

jump to #1:30 in the video to see the comparison!

blender is getting better at aniating 2d as well with v2.79, just look at this video demonstrating the many uses of the grease pencil and cool distortion maps over images and smooth interpolation of these.
