Also.. I'm curious about what happened with the last two projects you tried to recruit for. Did you ever release anything?

Before CJ gets any ideas, I veto the suggestion of bigger avatars. I say we go the opposite way and decrease their size. And the sigs as well. And the er, nick length.

You know, there's an option that will allow you to not see them at all.

And you use an animation, which is more taxing than a static 100x100 pixel jpg..

Speaking of avatars, I can't figure out where to change mine now.

Also, disregard those bumps on your testicles. Doctor appointments are expensive and Mittens is important.

No it doesn't. With that logic it would resemble me if you stuck my face on instead.

General Discussion / Re: Are YOU in a band?

Here's some of my advice if you're planning to go under the pickguard.

So far as lining the cavity with aluminum foil.. I wouldn't recommend it. It's cheap, but there are better ways. The aluminum can short your connections if you aren't careful with it, and it won't help much if you don't make sure it is continous electrically. There is always metal foil tape and special conductive paints that will work as well (AC repairmen keep metal film tape for taping up air ducts, if you know of one who will spare a small bit). If you replace all of the internal wire with shielded wire, you have no use for a shielded cavity anyway. I hope you're good with a soldering iron! The basic gist of it is very simple, just remember to heat the joint and apply the solder rather than heating the solder and applying it to the joint.

Eh, what else.. I'm gonna get a little heavy here, this stuff can be minor but in the end will make your guitar or bass electrically great. Ceramic caps are bad. If you don't believe me, check out this page. The difference may be minor, but it can help cut out boominess. If there are carbon comp resistors, you can replace them with metal film ones and they'll be practically noiseless. Your cable is also an important part that you probably don't think about. Those twisted wires help to create one long capacitor, so the longer the wire, the more the capacitance, and the more of your treble going down the drain. Try plugging in a 20 footer and then a small 6" cable. The clarity difference here is actually huge. The moral here is to not buy cheap cords, because they really do suck and there is a difference.

Those Mexican guitars are great, they're basically the same thing as the more expensive American-made guitars except for the electronic portion. They use cheap pickups and shield poorly, which is an easy fix that they use to justify the $600 extra you spend for an American guitar.

Bah, my point is more that America can hardly be dumbed down to only inventing the Nuke, and Scotland being the land of innovation. It's a logical fallacy. I'm perfectly aware that other countries have significant inventions.

Yeah, well, at least I don't bleed from my genitals.

General Discussion / Re: Work boredom
Wed 11/08/2004 00:27:26
When I'm bored at work I also play childish pranks and sometimes bring my computer and pretend to do homework but really school is over and I'm messing with graphics.

I have one co-worker who abhors cats. I linked an application we use all of the time for our work to a screen saver that had a blown-up picture of a cat with blood on its teeth hissing, and accompanied it with a very loud hissing sound. She almost killed me, but she had to go to the bathroom first. I'm still waiting for the recoil on that one.

For everyone's benefits, and those that will be able to recognise what ZVerily is after reading this http://www33.brinkster.com/agsquotes/view.asp?id=477

Oh yah, Blender doesn't have Z depth, or a Z coordinate at all. It's a 2d program in disguise.
#491
I'm beginning to wonder if this Zverily thing is just made up. Are you bastards tricking me?

Quote from: kingsized on Tue 10/08/2004 05:43:40
I once tried to use Blender and I lost all my coordinates.

I don't know what Zverily is either, but I'm a beginner 3d user too, shabz.

That's strange, because I've been using Blender for years and I'm neither a beginner nor have I lost all of my coordinates.

I suppose you were trying to import a file? I've never had to but I hear some of the importers work find and some suck. Also, some people press the number keys (which change layers) and surmise that everything has been deleted.

Sorry to bring this crap up again - I don't think anyone cares - but I just found the Siggraph 2004 Blender reel. It showcases a lot of awesome Blender works, all rendered internally or with Yafray.

Ironically, I was already keeping my boxes in mint condition when I was eight.
Then one day my parents decided we didn't need them anymore.
Whee!

My mom threw out all of my old boxes AND the diskettes. Halves of dozens of classic adventures, gone just like that.

I don't know how you could have not played through Cirque, it's a classic.  :P

I haven't finished a game to date, after knowing about AGS for years. I've made a few characters, rooms, and storyboards, but no game. I get tired of writing on stories that get old to me after a time, so I probably wouldn't play my own game either.   :-\

I wish I were you ô_à”

No you don't.

Respect yourself more than that, for your own sake.

In short I think that I don't have jealousy because I had a big awakening when I was 13 or so and I stopped getting angry, jealous, or frustrated to even a moderate extent. My parents had split up and thinking about that caused me to realize a lot of things. Once you try to understand how people think and why they think that way, you understand why they do things that you do or don't like. Once you understand, you shouldn't get angry, frustrated, or jealous.

Because I have gained that kind of emotional calm, I feel I'm able to think and solve problems better than a lot of people. But I'm no superhuman, I'm not perfect, and definately not something of envy. Probably most of the people you envy for whatever reason have huge problems you don't know about. Actually, just about everyone has a huge problem that they don't let everyone know about. If you think about that, it's also easier to not get jealous. *Atheletic people are often of lesser intellect. It's not always the case, but doesn't that make you feel better?

For example, lets say you fancy a beautiful girl who fancies a guy that you hate and does several things better than you can. Don't get jealous of the guy for being better than you at whatever the hell he does, and don't get angry at the girl for liking him. If you want the girl, try to let her know about your redeeming qualities and talk to her a lot. People often like to talk about themselves, so ask things like, "How was your day, What are you doing this weekend, What do you do in your spare time, What kind of music/movies do you like, etc." She'll love you for it, seriously. You could use that alone to manipulate a girl into doing anything you want, and many people do. But if you think about that.. if you don't really have anything in common with her, if you just think she's pretty, forget it. It's not worth it in the long run for many reasons, and getting jealous just makes it worse. Jealously will make you stupid, so avoid it at all costs. Focus on the girl and not the guy you're jealous of, in short, because if you focus on the guy then you lose sight of the girl, and you lose the girl.

*I'm speaking in American terms, I hope no one gets offended here, because it's true in the states.

Radio (Tesla, Immigrant, Marconi is a fraud)
AC Electricity (Tesla)
Tesla Coil (Tesla)
Brushless AC Induction electric motor (Tesla)
Vacuum Tube (Tesla)
Wireless Electricity (Tesla)
Radar (concieved by Tesla, perfected at MIT)

You can tell I'm more into electricity than other stuff, and I really like Tesla.

You have instantly won my respect. Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Tesla come up with the idea for the transistor as well?

No, so far as I know. I read the story about a prisoner accidentally discovering it as a sidenote in a book about a totally different subject, and now I'm unable to find any information pertaining to that at all. It was perfected in Bell labs though, for sure, years after Tesla's passing.

Apparently the US Navy was invented by a Scotsman.  ???

I think the problem here is distinguishing between Natives and Immigrants (Example: This page shows Einstein as American).. for me, if you are going to renounce all formal ties to your country and leave, you're no longer of that label. But that's just me I guess.

I've never been jealous. I can't really say why, it's rather complicated I guess.

Like Yufster, I've also often wondered what a massive orgy with my female friends (and lots of girls who I really don't know at all) would be like.
