I discovered a two minor problems:

1. When displaying dialogue alternatives, the background music stutters.
2. When displaying a large MPEG, the first seconds are not shown as the program loads the file. As soon as the file is loaded, the MPEG plays normally.

But hey, it runs! That's GREAT!

Great news! This means that Linux won't miss out on the ~ 15 min of video in the Zone!

Is there any way to mute MPEG audio playback if sound was disabled in winsetup.exe?

Edit by strazer: Fixed in AGS v2.71 Beta 5

No, that did not do it really.
#105
I'll try that. Thanks.

The first time I play an MPEG with sound on a Windows XP system, the sound stutters during the first second of playback or so. It does not happen on later PlayVideos. Can it be fixed?

MPEG support for linux would be sooo nice! Good work!

Even though I plan to sell my game, I am not afraid that my work will be ripped off. I have bundled the game with a distinct graphical style - with logos and stuff to make it stand out but wouldn't register a trademark or anything as I do not see the need.

I totally agree with GarageGothic on this and plan to be very liberal in giving promotion copies of the game to other people.

... and my own game which I work full-time on for the next two weeks!

Very, very nice. I really enjoy what I have seen so far.

You should spend some time on the music as well.

I certainly do not recommend AVI for movies like that. Convert into an MPEG (for compatability) or to WMV (for small-size and Windows compatability).

I have had problems with ambient sounds not playing at all. Has anyone else encountered this?
#113
If so, it could provide video support for Linux as well.

Would it be possible to support Theora?
#115
Well, if 800x600 would have been available when I started developing on AGS, I'd use it. The same with 1024x768...  :-[

Or go queer and refuse to. :p

Or have the grayscales of a bitmapped font lighten/darken the base color of character.

Sounds like a lot of quite unnecessary work... :)

A question: is it possible to add some sort of movie support (other than FLC)? That format really sucks.

Possible? Probably. How? I don't know.

Every library I've found so far that "doesn't suck"(TM), is usually under a GPL license, which means I can't use it. When I have found video playback libraries under a friendly license, they're usually ancient and don't even compile anymore, or they only work on Windows.

If you could specify more exactly what you need (I am no programmer), then perhaps I could get my test group to go look for it?
