i'm guessing this girl is the same age as you? 13? well, her hormones are probably tearing her apart right now, and any decisions about sexuality are not to be taken seriously. I know plenty of girls who thought they were a lesbian, and even had girlfriends when they your 14-15, but now they know they're not. Its probably just hormones. But if its not, well, theres not much you can do about it, all you can do is be a good friend.

Not being taken seriously is a major way of oppressing non-heterosexual people. I know plenty of girls who thought they were heterosexual, and even had boyfriends when they were your age 14-15, but know know they're not.

Never assume anything, but please do take people seriously. It is quite offending having to "prove" that you are one thing or the other. Why is it so hard to just accept people's sexuality without going "she's out of her mind because of the hormones" or "she's not old enough to be gay"? Why can't people be taken seriously even though they may change or redefine their sexuality later on?

Saying "it's just a phase, your sexuality isn't for real" is not very friendly in my humble opionion.

Can anyone recommend a good resource hacker for .exe files so that I can exchange the icons to high-res versions?

Any suggestions for a free dosbox program for the mac?

I would be very happy if there could be a MacOS X port of the run-time engine. You see, several prospective players of the game I have been developing for the last two years have asked me about it and I have been turning them down.

I realize that 98% of the AGS users are using PCs (as CJ states in the FAQ), but I believe that the reason for this is that the editor and the runtimes aren't available for Macs. As a PC user, I wouldn't use Mac-only software too.

Due to the large number of requests for this, I wonder if this could be accomplished somehow. I mean, it is not as if it would harm the AGS community - quite the opposite: games would reach a larger audience (and would have to be designed for one mouse button or alt-clicks).

Heck, I even have programmers in my beta-test team that are hassling me to do a port. (And no, I didn't develop a game for two years just to steal it or distribute "how to hack your savegames" tools on the web.) Allegro seems compatible with MacOS X... so what are we waiting for? Let's give it a shot. Or is there something I have missed?

Ben Jordan ... go create! (Oh, got carried away there. Sorry.)

Ok, thanks.

To clarify matters: you CAN use MP3, but if you distribute more than 5000 copies (I think, check with Fraunhofer) of the game commercially you are required to pay a large sum of money to Fraunhofer that has the license. OGG is a similat sound format that is free to use. And from what I have heard, a bit better. I am making a commercial game and will use OGG for sound.

I have two rooms, one with the "Quiet" setting and one with the "Loud" setting. And I have enabled crossfades. Problem is: when I switch room from the quiet room to the loud room, the music that is crossfading away suddenly is cranked up and gets very loud.  :o

A workaround would of course be to turn the music off before switching rooms, but it's not really a nice solution. Seems the cross-fader doesn't take these volume changes in account.

And I'm still using AGS 2.62

There is no try. Just see the posts. Or as one of the orphans said: "There is no post".

What makes FLIC really nice is the portability. I think your suggestions sound reasonable. But it really is up to CJ.

But my FLICs are the same size as the screen. This is not a big problem, but it would be nice if the clearing was optional.

Try leaving the defunct harddisk to a service shop. They might be able to help you.

I developed such a module for the Swedish Broadcasting Corporation - in VBScript, integrated with Microsoft Word. But they haven't released it, unfortunately. And I have seem to lost my copy. :(

Well yes, and, uh...yes. You would have to move the dialog text to other scripts... I guess if you have a lot of dialogs already written it would be very time consuming to do this, but I guess it's up to the user whether the want/need the increased functionality I offer. No hard feelings if you don't use it mind you, it was just a suggestion. ;) (and ATM it's still under construction anyway)

I would love to use it, but since the sheer amount of dialogues in my current project amounts to a short novel, it would add immensely to development time. I'd rather improve on and add extra material instead. But perhaps next time, then? :)
