I liked that tape thing, the magnifier icon looks now blurred and differ a little from the rest.

I'd for the font one of five. Although both of them seems to fit the style pretty well, number five looks more interesting.

To leave the girlish look, I'd also stay away from the darker colors, (like blue). The pink layout looks very good.

Best idea, design and functionality: Krysis,
best technique: gameboy.

Hmm, maybe it's just me but I tell you, something is wrong with this project.

I don't want to grumble and say I don't like the idea, I do, but those artworks looks, erm... weird? I can't find that specific Loom feeling which the original had. It's very important for remakes, sequels and all that fan-made-stuff to keep it alive.

Personally, I liked the first EGA version the most. The graphic was simply awesome!

Good entries so far but I haven't seen any female orc yet. That's why I quickly decided to make one, first sketched on paper then tracked and pixelated. How do you like her?

(2x)

inspiration,
character size: 45 x 143px,
color number: 21 + one for background,
gear: MS Paint, L&M cigarettes, Tyskie beer,
time spent: a WHOLE yesterday!

notes:
Somewhat unfinished but I simply went tired of it. I wanted her wielding a weapon of some sort but after a shitty effect with a spear, I left the idea (although I was also thinking of a knife). So... well, here she is, an, um... innocent orcish girl.

Honestly, I don't like his head shape, so although I'm not good at pixelating faces, I did a paintover:

(5x)

Somewhat crappy but I used the same colors as you did. You might find it useful.

Just my two cents.

Hahah, sure! ;D Pretty good paintover!

edit: Yay, my 300th post! ;)

This one simply ROCKS!

It comes from my digart.pl profile. Unfortunately, there's no artworks available at the moment.

Oh, I'm now shaven-headed but it doesn't matter.

The Rumpus Room / Re: AGS Questionaire!

Name: Jan Teodor Czyżewski / John Theodore Tchyzevsky | Age: 18 | Male

1. How long have you been involved in the AGS community?

Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  One year (since April 2005).

2. Why did you get involved in AGS?

Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  I always wanted to make an old school adventure game. The AGS engine seemed the best of all available of that kind.

3. How do you feel that the fact that AGS is a freeware programme affect the community that has built up around it?

Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  I think it's obvious. The less you have to pay, the more people will be able to pay. AGS enables everyone to test it before and make a game of full value without any payments. This also helps people to improve their artistic and programming skills.

4. How big a part does the AGS community play in your life?

Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  It depends. Currently I visit the forums a few times a day. I'm also trying to make a game and improve my digital painting and scripting skills at once.

5. Have you been involved in making any games using AGS? You may list them if you want

Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  N/A

6. Answer these questions if you have been involved in making AGS games:

Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  a. Were you interested in game design/programming before you started using AGS?

Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Yes.

Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  b. If no, do you feel that you would have got into game design without AGS?

Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  N/A

Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  c. Do you make games using other programmes, either freeware or not? How does the eperience differ?

Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  A few. AFAIR, it was in 1999 and they were simple text-based adventures with lo-res static backgrounds.

Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  d. Has AGS inspired you to try and take up game design professionally?

Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Well, maybe. I'm trying to take the graphic studies and then obtain a bachelor title.

7. Do you feel that there is a gender divide in the AGS community?

Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Yes, there's much more males than females. But who cares?

8. Are you likely to feel differently about a game if you discover it's made by a female? In what way?

Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Yes. But it's not a negative feeling.

9. Do you feel that AGS makes it easier for females to get involved in computer game design? In what way?

Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ask female.

10. Do you feel that there is a difference between the types of games created by males and females?

Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  It's just as with, for example, books. Yes, it's a difference, maybe because women are more sensitive.

11. Any other comments?

Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Thanks. I hope my entry will be at least a bit useful.

I'm sure Stefano's now sitting over a bootle of some Martian whiskey in some Martian café with some breasted Martian chicks.

Hmm, I wonder how the house pics are made. Colored pencils?

I would change the GUI and switches. They're cut from a guitar!

It will be a hard choice, this is one of the best sprite jams ever!

Maybe Stefano has cracked under the pressure? ;)

April 22nd, I'm starting to worry.

Heheh, every time I see the "new posts" icon, I hope the winner is chosen.

It's something around 6:30 PM now in Brazil so I bet Stefano is still at work.

I'm afraid he lost interest on the project after that few "incidents" on the General Discussion board.

You better lock it up, Helm.
#98
Yea, of course, Anghellic.

You did the sprite today and put it in a game which was released a few YEARS ago? YOU are lame!

GTFO!

Welcome to the boards, Airgo!

No, I was just asking. Thanks. GREAT sprite, reminds me of HR Giger artworks.

Hmm... not to be jealous, but did you make everything by hand? Pixel by pixel? It must have been really exhausting. Which software did you use? Where was the inspiration? Put some info about the image you made.
