Haha excellent third podcast - this is becoming a mandatory part of my saturday morning routine, love it=) I really liked the format of it this time around with the discussion topic (remakes) and the reviews section. It just keeps getting better and better.

On a side note, I haven't seriously played Abe's Odyssee but I loved Exoddus so I am shocked that they want to start doing remakes. I don't see the point since they're on the Playstation Store anyway. I agree with the sentiment about doing remakes so that games can be played on modern platforms. I wouldn't have thought the original Tombraider needed a remake but they made a good job of Anniversary.

I don't get all this bashing people just because they like IE. Get over it.

I've dabbled in web design a little so I *know* you have to jump through hoops to make your sites look pretty in IE aswell as the other browswers, but for actually using the internet I don't see what difference it makes what browser you use so long as you are comfortable with it. I favoured Firefox on Windows then went Mac and used Safari until it started grinding to a halt. Now I use Chrome almost constantly and i'm very happy with it, but I don't see any reason to start flaming anyone for using IE.

At the end of the day, all software has its good and bad points, and people learn and problem-solve differently, so naturally they will find different software to their liking. Personally, despite all the rave reviews of it, I still don't 'get' the Gimp. It just isn't the right fit for me (possibly that is just the Mac version though which doesn't feel like a native app). I don't see that it matters what developers think is the superior browser: Regardless of the technical whizzbangs under the hood, the only thing that matters is that people can actually use the thing and enjoy doing so.

I do agree that users should be encouraged to upgrade if necessary, without rapping them across the knuckles for using a browser the developer doesn't like. It would be impractical for companies to support older software indefinitely. How effective this gimmick will be is doubtful though.

Listened to this when I woke up this morning.. what madness!

I agree about the music being a little loud near the end, although overall it was very well put together. Thanks for the talk about animation. I don't have to ask my noobish questions now :embarrassed:

I loved it, especially Grundislav's stuntman story. At first I thought you were going to say you'd walked into the bedroom wall or something silly but no, and not even away from public scrutiny either.. Wish I was your neighbour. Legend

Look forward to more.. I don't want to be a Loser.

Dropped a few pennies in your cap..

In all honesty, this is not really my cup of tea and by that I don't mean any disrespect to Mark or Screen 7 (To be fair I should really give the demo the benefit of the doubt when I have the time!), but i'm keen to support Screen 7 in whatever way I can, not least because I think Mark is awesome and I have fond memories of Adventure X

Best of luck with the production and to all those involved

I think you will find AGS very accessible if you do as the others have said and take a step back and learn AGS. Yes, scripting is involved but it's all explained very well in the tutorials of which there are many. It's also coupled with a very nice graphical interface that lets you set things up very quickly. Me, I still get a buzz out of just seeing things move across the screen.

Start simple and build from there, nobody expects you to produce a game over night. Read the manual, watch densming's YouTube videos and then put that into practice, even the stuff you consider basic. Make little rooms with a few interactions. Meanwhile I would recommend you take your main idea away from the computer and flesh it out on paper. That will give you time to mull it over and think about the challenges you might face. Break it down into smaller components and you will start to see how the snippets you are experimenting with from the tutorials relate to how you might create the full game.

By all means ask for help when you cannot find the answer in the manual or forums. Be respectful and friendly and i'm sure you will receive a warm welcome. It's not a competition, you have nothing to prove except to yourself, so just go at your own pace. In the end we are all beginners in some way and we are all constantly learning. Enjoy it.

I look forward to seeing what you come up with

I agree, the first one  I like the grainyness of the sand in the second one but the glow is too much I feel. The.. what do you call it.. the sea foam looks a bit too artificial but as someone who couldn't do any better I don't feel I can criticise.

Gorgeous, gorgeous work as always!!

I looked at the A-Z list, but there's no option to sort by date.

Clicky clicky where it says 'released'

Not that obvious, but all the columns on the A-Z page are sortable.

This was a very good idea for a competition, it's a shame you didn't get more entries ( I feel guilty I didn't get around to attempting this.. but I did look out my little Haiku book though :) ) and Cleanic deserves the win. Well done!

Just to confirm, I also only have the Modify button and options. I do not have the Profile Info and Actions sections that Tabata has.

All I have is:

Profile (in the Nav Bar)
Summary (Profile menu subitem)
Account Settings (Profile menu subitem)

All three of which take me to Account Settings

The last subitem I have is Forum Profile which takes me to the page to edit my profile. I cannot see my public profile. The options are the same regardless of which way I have the options toggled (sidebar or above)

or
http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?action=profile;u=6554;area=summary

both take me to Stupot's summary page and I can see the show posts link etc. Same with yours AGA.

However substituting my own id in either address dumps me at the Account Settings page, even though the url remains unchanged.

It turned out great Icey! I still see some grammatical errors but overall it's a cohesive story. Well done! I hope your teacher is pleased

Yeah, the summary page seems not to have been implemented? It takes me to Account Settings too. Looking at the SMF manual and at other sites it seems should be at http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?action=profile;area=summary;u=userid where userid is the number you see when you hover over one of the modify profile options.

I've just played through Eternally Us again with the latest version and it works flawlessly. It also made me cry. Again. It is a hauntingly beautiful game :~(

I've briefly tried Unga Needs Mumba and there doesn't seem to be any problems. I get a notification now that games cannot be run either because they are corrupted or (more likely) created with a version of AGS prior to 3.2 which is handy. I might have a bit of free time this weekend to test some more games hopefully. Is there a way of telling which version of AGS was used to create a game as I don't see anything on the games page or in the info about the exes (Using Get Info on my Mac)?

Okay... I have created the "compact" version of this layout:

Although I mentioned the whitespace, it didn't bother me really, however having tried the compact theme I do prefer it so thank you very much for providing this :)

I was a bit confused at first as I didn't notice (admittedly big) button to Modify my profile. It seemed odd floating above everything else like that and I started waffling about an alternative way to show that menu but i've just now discovered the toggle button on the right hand side.. much nicer ;-D

Really, you guys are wonderful, the forums are evolving into something something fantastic more and more each time I look! 8-0

Yeah, everything seems really BIG, there's quite a bit of whitespace.

Good job though! Everything looks so clean and shiny!

I like that the 'recent posts' link is now at the top since i'm always on that page. I also like the map and i've added my pin :D

Haha that's the plan! Thanks guys, and belated birthday wishes to SinSin's little girl :)

Happy birthday gameboy, have a good one!

I think being shorter they now look more like cups rather than mugs.

I think they look fantastic Darth, well done! :D

I just thought it would help to separate them from a similarly colored background!  Well that and I rather like how it looks :)

I like it too, it makes them 'pop'. All really good smileys so far but I would definitely like to see this set get the seal of approval so I can start using 'that eyebrow'

Once they are all in, perhaps m0ds could commission someone/ProgZmax to bring them all a bit closer together stylistically? This may sound a little precious, but it will annoy me if some of them have outlines and others don't. Or some are high-contrast and others low-contrast.

I guess it's being optimistic since I know creating these is a lot of work, but if there were enough of them, it would be cool to have a choice of which set to use so it wouldn't matter if they were stylistically different.
